Yay! Another success for charting. Congrats lgg xx

Hello ladies,

I was wondering if I could dip into your thread and ask a question about temping please? I am fairly new to it all - only been temping for 2 months following my MMC this year.

Am now 9DPO and this morning had a sharp temp rise. I entered it into Fertility friend who plotted it on my graph with a hollow type circle - so clearly thinks its a false reading.

My question is - would this qualify as a tri phasic pattern or am I being naive??

I would post my chart on here but I am clueless how to do that.

Thank you in anticipation!

theteasonme · 17/08/2010 09:49

I think you need to give it another couple of days to see if it's a true rise. If your temp stays up then I'd start getting excited. Smile xx

newyearsday · 17/08/2010 11:09

Hello all, I'd like to join your thread too, I've been charting for 4 months (ttc for 18mths). I have irregular cycles 30-40 days so charting has been great in understanding my body a bit better. I'm on CD17 and have not yet ov'ed so it'll probably be another long cycle grrrrr xx

chocciechip · 17/08/2010 11:19

Congrats gaga!

As for me, the spotting has not stopped since 6DPO. Most of the time its pink tinged CM, but at 7DPO, 10DPO and 12DPO (today) it was about 50/50 blood to CM. On 7DPO it was bright red, the other two days more of a darker brownish/brick red.

I did tests yesterday and today and both have been BFN. I know its early, but read somewhere that if you had an implantation bleed you could probably get a BFP within two days. I haven't so I think it unlikely to be an IB.

And although my temp went up a bit today, I think the trend on my chart is overall downwards; my breasts are less sore which is typical as I head towards AF and temps start dropping.

So I now think I probably have a luteal phase defect - something I've been worried about for a while. This is the worst month yet - I normally spot for 2-3 days before AF, but not 7-10!! (And I think the 2-3 days is not normal either).

Wrote to my GP about the spotting, sending her my charts, a few months back and got a reply that she was not qualified to comment. Great.

I think even if I did get a BFP, I would probably have another MC and that this might explain the other two. And I don't know if I'll get any help with this until I've had the NHS required quota of only three MCs Sad. I'll probably be over 40 then, and into a whole different ball-game of fertility issues. So today so far has been a fairly cr*p day with weepiness all morning.

Sorry for the 'me' post, but I am so flipping angry and miserable.

Hi, batteryhen ff gives you a hollow circle if you take your temp outside of your usual time. e.g. I normally temp around 7ish. I get a hollow circle if I temp at 6 or 8.

Your temp will go up the later it is but you'll get more of a clue tomorrow. It could be triphasic but as teas says you need more data to confirm. And sometimes triphasic indicates you are pg and sometimes not. Encouraging though!

LadyGoneGaga · 17/08/2010 11:30

Welcome new years day!

Choc chip I understand you are immensely frustrated. But it IS early days and you may still get your BFP in a few more days as this is nor normal for you. I got a BFN at 11dpo and BFP today at 14dpo. This is despite an implantation dip at 6dpo! An un-mumsnetly big hug though because you sound like you need one.

digitalgirl · 17/08/2010 12:48

Excellent news LGGG

Am most jealous of the fact you only had to swi for three days.

hippychick66 · 17/08/2010 12:53

ladygonegaga - congrats. Charting is definitely the way to go. We get so many BFP's on here.

Any chance we can have a list of the lucky ladies who are up the duff and their due dates???? I'm losing track.

choccie i usually spot a tiny bit for a few days before AF. I only have a LP of about 11 days and I've always managed to get pregnant. Yes I have had a MMC and a MC this year but I don't think they were linked to my LP. At my age they are far more likely to be down to my crappy old eggs.

Plus with my MMC the foetus got to 8 weeks and in my book by Lesley Regan she says if the foetus has got that far it can't be due to a LP defect.

The second MC started at 7 weeks but there was only a small sac (which again suggests it was not a MC caused by a shortened LP but more a problem with the embryo).

What I'm trying to say is that you could still get pregnant with a shorter LP and it wont necessarily effect your ability to carry. Does that make any sense at all??

hippychick66 · 17/08/2010 13:00

choccie I don't know the details of your two MC's but I would recommend the book Miscarriage: what every woman needs to know by Lesley Regan. It is a brillient book. I bought a second hand copy off Amazon and read all the bits I needed to in 1 day.

I was worried that my MMC was down to a short LP but the doctor thought that because I'd carried 2 pregnancies successfully before it was far more likely to be a problem with the quality of eggs rather than the environment. This book helped me to believe that she was right.

In my experience doctors don't like to talk about LPD much - even the specialist I saw poo poo'd the whole idea of it (but he was an idiot!)

Ell11 · 17/08/2010 13:11

Hi everyone!

Pleeeaaase can I join your thread? I've been charting for 3 cycles (which are between 30 - 40 days) and TTC for 11 months. You all sound very much like the thoughts which rattle round in my head and today I cannot stop obsessing.

I've a couple of questions I reckon you could help with - I'm 14DPO and temps are still high. The 1st cycle I charted had a 12 day luteal phase but the 2nd seemed to be 16 (though my DD2 "borrowed" my thermometer for a couple of days and couldn't remember where she'd left it and I think I could have o'vd in those days rather than the day FF says). How varied are everyone's luteal phases?

Also I tested on 12DPO with a 10miu test which was a BFN. Surely by then I should have enough HPT if I were preggers? Any advise on this?

Oh, and another thing (sorry, but it's really helping me to air this!) I get cramping every month starting 7 days before AF due which does not subside til AF is gone - I'm cramping as normal this month - so I'm guessing AF is on it's way. But of course, I'm hoping some of you will say "I get cramps every month too, and still got them when I fell pg".

Congrats to those with BFPs!

Choccie - I reckon you should go to your Doc and ask to be referred to a specialist - I did when I'd only been TTC for 3 months but had had no AF at all. Waiting list was long but at least I was on it - no harm in trying?

LadyGoneGaga · 17/08/2010 13:28

Ell11 cycle buddy! I got BFN with 10miu test at 11dpo. Retested today at 14dpo and BFP. Was very faint on the internet cheapie which is a 10miu one but very clear on the First Response which is less sensitive!

And I have been cramping pretty much since 5 dpo. Still cramping now and convinced witch may show up!

From what I read luteal phases shouldn't vary by more than a day or two cycle to cycle. Good luck!

Ell11 · 17/08/2010 13:34

Oooh! you give me hope!!! Gonna go out and buy a proper test to do tomorrow morning if temps are still high!! Thanks LadyGG!

emptyshell · 17/08/2010 18:05

Took me ages to get a positive on internet cheapies and it was a right royal squinter when I did. Even further on the cheapos were only giving me a really really faint line (to my shame I've peed my way through about 20 of them just checking I was still pregnant). It's taken till I'm 6 weeks gone to get really nice quick decisive lines out of them.

They seem good for what I originally bought them for - which was satisfying that urge that only peeing on a stick will satisfy - but kinda naffo in terms of easy to read tests.

Danilou22 · 17/08/2010 18:23

Congrats to Lady!!

DO you all think there is a difference when you use cheap tests? I have been a bit rubbish with my temping but FF still thinks I ov'd which means this is the longest luteal phase in the world!! I tested with a cheap boots test and just accepted that it was negative. Was going to wait another week or so and then try again with the second one in the pack . Should I go out and buy more expensive ones? Hmm

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 17/08/2010 19:05

Evening ladies - sorry I havent shown my face for a while! Have I missed any BFPs?

Well, moi, I am on cycle number 5 (not including the 2 years before the MC - grrrr),and am on CD12 so it's all systems go in our house AND I am thrilled to announce that this afternoon I actually found my cervix!!! Hahahaha!! Does that get me some sort of medal in the charters anonymous gang? Grin

It took me quite by surprise while fishing around for some CM Blush After months of thinking "no way are my fingers long enough to get right up there" I couldnt believe how easy it was.

Now to interpret my findings - what qualifies as firm/soft high/low open/closed? Best get swotting up on my TCOYF bible tonight!

StormBird · 17/08/2010 19:14

Hi everybody,

May I ask you avid charters a question?

Temp at 6am this morning was 35.92 and has dipped considerably, then about half an hour ago I got a positive OPK. #

Ok so its faintish but got darker and I threw it away after 3 mins as suggested.

EWCM is creamy (sorry TMI) and as far as I can tell I usually OV around CD15/16 of a 28 day cycle and this is only CD12.

Is this usual? Does it mean I should jump DP now??

Sorry not been charting very long, still trying to get my head round it all.

Would appreciate any advice.

Ta very muchly
STORM

xx

spilttheteaagain · 17/08/2010 19:49

Do the August up-duffed bunch want to add their estimated due dates? Grin

Congratulations all!

bessie26 · 17/08/2010 19:54

HUGE congrats to ladyggg Grin it truly is a beautiful chart, not all up-and-down like mine! (am also very Envy that you only had to do BD 3 times!)

hi to all the newbies, to share your chart with us, click on "My home page" in FF - that's the page you need to tell us about - should look something like
www.fertilityfriend.com/home/2d2a06

choccie have you had any tests done? When I asked to be referred, my Dr said that although it was unlikely I would be successful (as I have DD & have got pg another 2 times) she would get all the tests done so she could fill the referral form in... I had some bloods taken CD3-5, & more around CD21.

Ell11 apparently most people don't get a BFP until 17DPO

ifatfirst I charted my cervix last cycle. I tried ages ago & never really got the hang of it, but someone on here told me to always do it at the same time every day, which helped. I judged how high/low it was my weather i could reach it very easily, easily, or if it was just out of reach! Never really got the hang of the open/closed thing though.

storm there's no such thing as TMI on a conception thread! (well... maybe... Wink)
I think it's suggested you BD roughly every other day once you enter your fertile period, ramping up to everyday (if you have the enthusiasm!) around O.

must go - sains delivery man has just arrived!

theteasonme · 17/08/2010 19:57

Ooh, spilt you're super clever Grin

How you getting on? xx

spilttheteaagain · 17/08/2010 20:09

I'm doing ok thanks teason. Had my 12 week scan last Friday which showed one nice little wriggly baby Smile

I did pretty much cry after my blood test though

Sickness receeding, waistbands getting tighter so I've just ordered some bump bands and mat jeans.

Welcome storm and Ell, this is a great thread Grin

theteasonme · 17/08/2010 20:32

Glad to hear it hon, am itching for one of you preggos to be having multiples Grin

I love bump bands - best invention ever!

Pleased you're doing so well Smile xxx

spilttheteaagain · 17/08/2010 20:41

All I can say is I'm glad it wasn't me having twins etc... I had several nightmares about that!

Someone else can have that pleasure Wink

Ell11 · 17/08/2010 21:06

Thanks Bessie- helpful link! I chickened out of buying a test- didn't want to wake up tomorrow to AF and regret buying it. Will just have to wait!

I struggle with checking my cervix too- it always seems to feel the same and I can generally only just tickle it with the tip of my finger. I have given up. My CM is also pretty poor so I just 'go for it' every other day til I see the temp rise!

Agree that this is a good thread- thanks for welcoming me!

digitalgirl · 17/08/2010 21:21

ifatfirst I'm a cervix charter. Basically had to do it for two cycles before I could confidently interpret it's position. Once you've felt how soft and open it is during your fertile period, there will be a significant change once it decides to close. But agree you have to do it every day at the same time. It's not for everyone, I only do it because I can never tell the difference between semen and cm. Plus I've been known to get a positive opk and not ovulate for another 2 weeks - so a quick check in the shower each morning reassures me that I'm definitely in the luteal phase.

Feeling progesterone-induced crampiness today. Nothing particularly unusual about that...
