These threads always end in tears, but Oh my God that is a lot.

Have not thought what I will be getting dd, maybe some paints.

bigchris · 14/11/2009 14:21

lol

ds (5) - Ben 10 figures, inlaws getting him more ben 10 stauff, don't know what my paretns are getting

dd (3) - Disney Princess of some sort

both will get stockings with about 8 things in - choc coins, a toy watch, games , mini books etc

carriedababi · 14/11/2009 14:21

oh sorry not meaning to start a thread that will end in tears, not my intention at all.

OP posts:
bigchris · 14/11/2009 14:22

aw bless you, is this your first xmas on mumsnet?!!

JackBauer · 14/11/2009 14:24

Wow, that is loads.
DD's are both getting
note pads, crayons, peppa sticker books, torches in their stocking amongst practical things I haven't bought yet.
DD1 (3.9) is getting a blue guitar, a magnetic theatre book
DD2 (2.1) is getting a magnetic drawer thingy, a magnetic cat book.

They are both going to get one of those microphone cassette player things to share with a load of blank and other tapes from my mums attic.

I wanted to get them the peppa pig playtent as we have just bust theirs but can't find it cheaply anywhere so won't bother.

carriedababi · 14/11/2009 14:24

no, i've been on here 3.5 years, but this is the first christmas dd is into playing.

her first christmas she had new grobags
the 2nd year we all chipped in to get a playhouse.
this year shes just starting to play with toys.

OP posts:
bigchris · 14/11/2009 14:26

if you can afford it and you have room for it I don't see the problem
but you do realise a lot of it won't get played with don't you?

Morosky · 14/11/2009 14:26

It must be your first Christmas these theads always end with someone buying the whole of Hamley's arguing with someone who has bought their kids a lump of coal and a tangerine - although the coal will be smoke free and the tangerine will be organic.

bigchris · 14/11/2009 14:26

oh yes JB - my 2 got torches in their stockings last xmas and loved them

Weegle · 14/11/2009 14:29

That is a lot of stuff! I'll be surprised if she has the stamina to open it all over a few days - suspect she might be overwhelmed.

DS (3.5) is getting a toy motorbike helmet/handle bar set thing and a stocking full of useful fun variety stuff e.g. toothbrush, bubble bath etc, and some nibbles.

DT's will only be a few days old and are getting nothing except maybe some milk and a nappy change or two

carriedababi · 14/11/2009 14:29

LOL morosky.

well all the stuff i've brought is money ive made by selling old things on ebay, so ihavent had to take anymoney out our joint account.
so dh is rather pleased.

if dd doesn't like anything i'll just flog it on.

last year i did a christmas thread saying shall i get dd a playhouse and everyone said yes do it, so i did.

GypsyMoth · 14/11/2009 14:30

my god!! thats alot of 'stuff'!! i have 5 dc and even with all the money in the world,i wouldn't buy that much lol!!! think of all that xmas day packaging!! thats what i hate most about xmas day....packaging!!!

mine are all getting one main present and five smaller ones. have had this rule for 2 years now,and works well for us. (and the landfill site)

dd1...ipod speakers, new look vouchers, designer hair and make up...

dd2...contract phone,twilight hoodie,make up and vouchers

ds1...bike,bike stuff, silver chain and xbox game

ds2...bike,lego not sure yet what else

ds3...tractor with trailor to ride on,elc stuff

Bleatblurt · 14/11/2009 14:30

Mine are getting a train and playtable thingy (joint present) and a stocking each. That's it.

As a big family present we will get a years safari park membership and a Historic Scotland years membership. The money is better spend on days out than toys that are mainly plastic crap and break after a couple of uses!(can you tell I've fallen into the plastic crap trap previously? )

JackBauer · 14/11/2009 14:30

Thats rather a lot of magnetic things actually....

JackBauer · 14/11/2009 14:32

bigchris, they are projection torches for 2 quid from poundstretcher. Dh and I are hoping that the novelty will keep them in bed for awhile

MIL is getting them a dollshouse. So that'll be easy to get home

Meglet · 14/11/2009 14:48

all second hand from NCT sale:

3yo DS - 2 x Thomas books and 2 educational puzzle games

1yo DD - pink magnadoodle thingy and a big Spot first words book.

But I will also get them a new book each from Waterstones (when they do the 3 for 2 offer), something that I like reading .

No storage or money here!

Morosky · 14/11/2009 14:52

I bet dd would like a projection torch, would it work in a tent?

MrsMorgan · 14/11/2009 14:53

Hulababy · 14/11/2009 15:01

From us, so far we have bought 7y DD:

  • Animal Hospital vehicle set (was half price last month)
  • Animal Hospital plane (got it using £25 discount code last week)
  • Spy Dog books
  • Jill Tomlinson books

Will be getting her a new scooter as her main gift. And will probably also get her Snow White and HM movie on DVD. Not sure what else.

PILs have got her:
Sylvanian family -
Camping Set
Seaside
Toy Stall and Pancake Stall
Bouncy Castle

Friend:
Guiness Book of Records
Animal Hospital animal sets

BIL/SIL have a list of ideas, not sure what they are going for as yet.

My parents are asking for ideas, as is my bther and my sister. Need to pass some ideas on.

She will also have gifts from great grandpaents (3 sets) and some other relatives, plus close family friends.

JackBauer · 14/11/2009 15:01

Morosky, don't see why not. It's just a small pencil torch with 'caps' that fit over the end that have pictures on them so they project shadows. In fact it would probably work better in a tent.
I have dora and fireman sam but they had princess and thomas ones as well.

Everything else was from charity shop, car boot or hypervalue. still need to get guitar adn drawer from argos this week.

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 14/11/2009 15:05

DD (8)

A lego house set
A LEGO CAMPER VAN SET
A Gogo hanster, playhouse and hamster car
A set of Fairy books
A perfume making kit
