Festive greetings to all and everyone. We're so close! I've just got a few last minute bits of wrapping to go and I hope everything is all bought. The Christmas food shop is arriving on Tuesday, the gingerbread house is being baked tomorrow and cinnamon buns are on my list of things to make before the week is out! Massive Christmas wishes to each and every one of you.

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread here and share around the joy/referral perks.

Does anyone have an argos code spare please? Im about to spend £180 on a bike for my sons birthday 🎂 thank you

The (mostly 50% off) things already in M&S sale don’t seem to have got cheaper but they have added many more items which have better reductions than that.

BTW, I may have discovered that if you try to add something to your basket and get the ‘Can’t add to your basket. Please try again later’ type of message, it doesn’t mean they are out of stock with more expected, but that you have too many things in your basket already 😕

Someone posted that Clinton cards were having a sale on their Rolife kits but I never got to shop to check. I bought the city scape book nook when it was £15 on Amazon and now am avidly checking for others under £20. Sometimes direct from China is cheaper. New obsession unlocked.

That was me about Clinton’s. They still had some in ours Wednesday

I did some RL shopping yesterday. I got the rest of the family Christmas cards from Clinton’s as they were 50%.

I bought a lovely gingerbread house mug and hat for my friend from Matalan, the mug was half price and then got a further 10% sale items so was £3.60.

I bought a FIFA set from Boots which had deo and socks in for half price for my DS and one of his friends.

I got the best deals at Sainsbury’s. I bought two Lynx sets for £2.60 each (they were £9 or £10 originally. I got a football quiz game for £0.90 and two packs of disgusting facts packs for £0.90 each (they had other topics). All for my DS and one of his friends.

Then I got a bath bomb set for £1.50, a padded notebook for £0.90 and a reindeer headband with bath fizzes for £2.40 for a friend’s DD.

i won’t let me add all the photos I’ve taken of the items as it says they’re too big.

I got a few mini alcohol gift sets in Sainsbury's as well as some other bits. They were at the end of an aisle near the wine.

What kind of things are people finding in the M&S sale? I’m finding the sales all very disappointing!! Maybe I need to brave IRL!

WhiskyandWater · 02/01/2026 17:06

A bit niche but Ralph Lauren kids at Bicester has cable knit beanie hats for £10 (the s/m fits me) and cable scarves for £16 - down from about £60, bought a couple to put away for next year.

Moonnstarz · 02/01/2026 17:18

TG Jones (wh smiths) had half price gifts. Perhaps not as cheap as some places (I picked up some neon make your own signs which were cheaper in boots but sold out) but definitely cheaper than full price so I felt worth it.

I got 2 cashmere cardigans for £95 - I part paid with a £25 gift card, so the cost to me was £70. Hopefully they will last me for years. I did buy them in-store, the offerings online have been poor.

ChristmasMad1 · 02/01/2026 18:01

Is there any cheap wrapping paper / gift bags like the cheap IRL bargains online? I have run out of my Xmas stock of wrapping paper for next year and I am unable to leave the house

Cheap wrapping paper in Asda 35p a roll. Also crackers reduced further (I paid £2.50 last week but now they are £1.24).
Morrisons had some wrapping paper for 15p but the one I went to only had Spiderman left.
TG Jones wrapping was £1 a roll.

Sorry only just realised you said online 🤦

Clothes for me, mostly 😊 My weight is changing so I ‘need’ new things now but don’t want to spend too much on them as they may not fit me for long.

There are many things at half price, including household stuff. I didn’t look at the children’s section but the men’s offerings were good, too. From early on Friday there were lots of things with much better reductions than that, but some had few in stock in certain sizes, which sold out quickly, although other sizes were still there. I filter by size, and then brand.

I only shop online.

All wrap now 29p a roll in Söstrene Grene. They had hundreds of rolls when I was in my local shop yesterday (Newcastle upon Tyne) Lovely designs like oak leaves that could also be used for other occasions

ETA so sorry I missed the bit about you being unable to leave the house. I don't know if they are online.

Does anyone remember the American Candy sale items a few months back, that turned out to be a scam and wasn't delivered? (Not a dig at the original poster of it, they weren't to know!)
I claimed a charge back, so got my money back. My bank later got in contact to say that they American Candy disputed the charge 🤣. How they can dispute it when they never sent the products, I don't know! Luckily bank still on my side, so they said they weren't sending back the money to them, but wondering if American Candy tried the same with anyone else?

imnottoofussed · 03/01/2026 16:32

Oh that’s strange I did a chargeback and heard nothing else since

Did you get your money back? Maybe they've realized there's no point in them fighting it?

imnottoofussed · 03/01/2026 17:37

Yes got my money back and didn’t hear anything further from NatWest

imnottoofussed · 03/01/2026 17:37

My chargeback was done on 21st October
