Thread 14 - the one where I'm still not sure what a cheese spoiler is

Welcome to Christmas 2025!

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread here and share around the joy/referral perks.

Thanks, another poster provided a link to the Wilko's one online but it's collection only (and no local stores) so I will try and find a comparable equivalent :)

MrsMAFs · 05/12/2025 18:42

For anyone interested these are my Fahlo bracelets in comparison to my 6 year old like primark bracelet. They're not as big as I though but still probably too big for her.

The cards and packaging too. For info I have 2 turtle bracelets 2 wolf bracelets a lion bracelet and a whale bracelet I think it is. So bit rubbish for gifting having to open all the cards. In fact I might do it ASAP to make sure I actually have the right ones given my order was wrong.

MrsMAFs · 05/12/2025 18:51

Sorry pics won't post. Checked the cards and they're incorrect.

I have 2 turtle cards. 2 wolf cards. 2 lion cards. So an extra lion and missing a whale.

Also worth noting for the duplicates, it's the same animal it's tracking. Not an issue here we will gift one to a friend but incase you were wondering.

Long time lurker of these amazing threads! Attempting to catch the dairy milk bargain years ago was my early hours, deprivation fuelled, breastfeeding hobby with my eldest!
Hoping for some bargainous advice from the wine connoisseurs. My DH wants to try a "good/fancy" bottle of wine (as opposed to our usual supermarket ones). Generally he likes a fruity wine- rose or white. Any ideas?
We've done laithwaites, virgin wines before.
Thank you!

Honestly, I’d find your nearest independent wine merchant. If you share your rough location, I’m sure people could make a suggestion.

SOrry can't tag from the previous post but

FORTNUM & MASON - I can get there early next week so if anyone wants me to buy stuff and send it on please DM me - we can do payment over paypal for safety. I'm assuming that the items people want are likely to be RM small parcel so cheaper to post than F&M charge.

Also - shameless plug but those waiting for Falho to deliver - my daughter has made a load of silver earrings to sell for our local foodbank and there are a wide range of animals - whates/turtles etc so I could post you a pair - in return I'd send you the link to the Trussell Trust page to donate £1.50 per pair.

Could anyone help with some posh-ish dairy free chocolates or biscuits please

FurForksSake · 05/12/2025 19:35

https://www.chocolatetradingco.com/chocolates/brand/booja-booja these are fantastic, I think they might sell in John Lewis / Waitrose as well.

Ulster Weavers are doing 4 for £20 on selected tea towels. 4TTFOR20

they are very, very good quality and lovely designs. I added 5 to my basket and they all discounted to £5 each

might be a nice thing to add to a hamper

ClemFandangosHair · 05/12/2025 20:00

Lidl has an advent calendar on the app, today I got 15% off toys so worth having a look!

What does he usually drink and what are you looking to spend on a bottle? I might be able to suggest something...

Definitely white or rose. Fruity. Normally more of a fruit cider drinker really. But as much as it shames me to admit, we normally drink the sort of wine that you have a slight grimace after 😬
Really enjoyed a sparkling red we got from the caves in France once!
Thank you all, will peruse naked wines, good pair days and perhaps visit a majestic wines!

LovelyTurtle · 05/12/2025 20:28

Any ideas for partners of our dc please? (19 and 20) Small bits for a stockings ideally. I already have those mini Lego sets, and their favorite sweets and drinks.

Sideorderofchips · 05/12/2025 20:29

What would be a lovely jigsaw for a 5 year old boy please
( he is a very smart little fellow and a dab hand with the puzzles) ?

Might be worth checking how many pieces he likes, if you can. By 5 we were on 100-200 pieces, and it could be more if he's really into them.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Elephant-Jigsaw-Puzzle-Puzzles-Children/dp/B09KRR2BMS This one is nice, and a little bit different. We also have a dolphin one by the same company, and they have a couple of other animals as well.

I am actually pretty much done - I’ve been quiet this year but have had lots of inspiration from these threads so thank you all so much :)

The only two people I have left are my husbands cousins. Both male, early 20s, and I am stumped. I used to just give them money but one earns more than me now 😂 they drink, but not like we used to…so I don’t think a bottle of something is a particularly good gift for them. Both are very loved up at the moment so was wondering about something for a night in/out with their girlfriends but then don’t actually know what…is a Just Eat (or whatever the cool equivalent is) voucher a bit rubbish..?

@Rugtambourine you can get lovely sparkling Italian reds that you serve chilled - Barbera Di Asti is one.

CarrotVan · 05/12/2025 20:42

@SpamIAm a date night hamper? Posh biscuits, popcorn, hot chocolate, nice soft drinks
