Non-Beauty Advent Calendar Opening Thread

Not sure if there's already a thread somewhere and I am just blind but for the first time ever, I have a slightly posh calendar.

Now, will admit it's just the Twinings Tea one (which I may have won as part off the November Postcode Lottery) but I'm really excited and wondered if those of us with non-beauty calendars might like to share our bounty?

I will continue to lurk on the other threads as they are strangely compelling to me but would also love some company as I drink my way through the 24 days of Advent!

The ones I don't fancy as much I'll stash and use for bolognaise or rissotos. It's really handy having glass size bottles of wine.

A good way to try something different too...and stop you quaffing a whole big bottle !😆

I may have to try the wine calendar next year now. I blame @AhBiscuits😂

Here is my next one, I have never tried using this before, although I know others do, maybe I’ll give it a go 😊

A rosè today. I think I'll crack that one open as soon as the kids are in bed tonight.

Good morning - feeling much more alive and festive today although I'm not sure about my tea selection... Cleanse Matcha!

I'm not the biggest green tea fan and really don't like matcha although perhaps combined, they'll be tasty? I thought there might be more black teas in here, to be honest, as that's definitely more my thing.. ah well, nothing ventured nothing gained!

I used to be quite skeptical about green tea too but I've come to realise it has loads of benefits.

It lasts forever. I've had the same box in the cupboard for about 5 years.
It saves on milk.
It makes you look fancy if you serve it to guests.
They won't ask for a second cup.
They probably won't come back.

The benefits are numerous.

i don’t like green tea, i did try it once before. DH drinks Jasmine Pearl green tea, it’s just not for me. PG Tips Decaf for boring old me 😁.

Cranberry, hibiscus and rosehip for me today. 5th 12 hour shift in 6 days today so could have done with something a bit stronger, but got a week of annual leave from tomorrow so can't complain!

Forgot to post yesterday.
Today is an organic herbal tea with lime blossom, apple and elderflower

My candle today is thyme and mint. I've popped it in the kitchen to light after cooking fish or anything smelly.

I have tried to post the pic from today and it won’t let me 🤔. I will try linking it. I was so lucky to get two packs (sarcasm), one in chilli flavour and the other ginger.

I went out and got myself a Lindt calendar to cheer me up 😁.

I drank the rosè last night and it was lovely. I'm going to have today's while watching strictly later.

@Tiredmumno1 I got a pack of those to try once, bleugh! Hope you don't get any more!

@SoftandQuietmy son took one nibble and spat it out, then downed a glass of blackcurrant 😁. I wasn’t brave enough to try, the smell was bad enough 😁.

After yesterday’s offering they decided to offer me a non alcoholic drink today. I think they are trying to wind me up 😂

I really can't understand the point of such drinks. Much rather a nice Fentimans...always seem over priced too. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

I think I'm going to try the St Eval calendar next year. Wax melts are faffy to change everyday , I know I dont have to, but I feel like I should. I've not melted one since Toffee Nut Latte as I rather enjoyed my kitchen smelling like Ferrero Rocher !

3rd Cosy & Warm (Vanilla, Toffee, Orange)
4th Snow Pixie (Like Snow Fairy from Lush)
5th Cranberry Orange & Cinnamon (as it says , actually smells like Mrs Hinch Cosy Season Flash floor cleaner)
6th Vanilla Birch (Really nice, pine, musk, berry vanilla all together) .

I'm going to look for green tea in my cupboard now.

Some lovely, and maybe a few less lovely, treats over the last couple of days. @Tiredmumno1 - been thinking id like the Degusta one next year but those crisps - and non alcoholic wine - are giving me pause 😁

Another herbal jobby for me today - Defence! It's actually quite nice, although Green Tea has snuck itself in again but similar to you, @SoftandQuiet, wouldn't mind something with a bit more oomph!

Ah well, early days and it's still exciting to me every morning to open a big door with something hiding behind it!

Today's cheese is smoked brie - haven't eaten it yet but it sounds scrummy.

Last two days offerings from our Degusta calendar ….not sure about the custard but the chocolate won’t last long
