Non-Beauty Advent Calendar Opening Thread

Not sure if there's already a thread somewhere and I am just blind but for the first time ever, I have a slightly posh calendar.

Now, will admit it's just the Twinings Tea one (which I may have won as part off the November Postcode Lottery) but I'm really excited and wondered if those of us with non-beauty calendars might like to share our bounty?

I will continue to lurk on the other threads as they are strangely compelling to me but would also love some company as I drink my way through the 24 days of Advent!

Is it unlucky for some today? - at least its not a Friday 😁

I have a herbal staple in mine today - good ole Lemon & Ginger. Its freezing and foggy where I live today so this will be most welcome later.

Ooh, @FlorencenotRatchet - how was it? I can't even have a guess as what that might be like although Oolong always fascinates me as you never know what you're going to get, taste wise..

Mine today is Immune Support which is probably not a bad choice at the moment with the weather and the flu and the desire to only eat carbs!

Here’s our last 3 days. Dd most put out as we have a 2nd can of custard when by the looks of the flyer (and seeing online what should be in there) we should of had Bon mamon chocolate spread

@Tealfish😲 maybe you should drop Degusta an email, just to let them know. I reckon they did it on purpose cos no one wants to buy them 😂😂 it’s ok I am sure I will get a tin soon (probably on Christmas Eve, knowing my bloody luck) 😁

A very unusual tasting tea. As with a lot of teas the aroma doesn’t always transfer to taste.
i didn’t hate it but won’t be rushing to buy it.

Considering you have the 'same' calendar, @Tealfish and @Tiredmummyno1, there's some real hits and misses in both, isn't there!

Thanks for reporting back, @FlorencenotRatchet - I won't rush out like a mad woman to grab some them. Although, at least you're getting more than just herbal followed by herbal with another herbal...

My offering today is Detox which, from the 'blurb' on the front is just a slightly fancier Lemon & Ginger, sigh! Ah well, I'll no doubt enjoy it and still loving opening a slightly fancier door every morning but perhaps I have to wait until the 24th for something with oomph?

Late to the party, but I am really enjoying reading this thread (and am definitely buying that tea light calendar next year, it looks fabulous!

We have a tea calendar too, from Søstrene Grene. I’d recommend it wholeheartedly.

It’s been about half flavoured black teas and half flavoured green teas, which works well for our family because I prefer black tea but Dd really likes green tea, so I’ve been sharing it with her, brewing it in a pot for one and just having a little taste in an espresso cup.

There are 2 versions of Degusta - 1 is supposed to have more ‘treat’ items than the other.

Here are the 2 degusta calendars, and mine from today.

One for DH from our Degusta today as he’s the only one here that drinks normal tea.
Over all I think the majority will get eaten @SanFranBear although the jar of pickled onions may lurk in the fridge door for a few years!!

@Tiredmumno1 think I paid £27 for ours via Groupon ….would not pay full price tbh

Aha... two versions, one more 'treaty' than the other! Not sure I agree with that - what with your two cans of custard @Tealfish, and your bag of flax seeds! Slightly sad that evil Nestle have slipped into yours, @Tiredmumno1 as was tempted to look into it next year!

Mind you, as this thread shows, there are many MANY calendars out there so pretty sure I can find one to suit!

Exactly @SanFranBear I won’t be getting it again, will be on the lookout for different next year. Possibly the wine or candles.

@Tealfishi wouldn’t have paid full price either, in fact it was still quite expensive even with the £15 off through Sky. I paid £35 for it, not so sure it’s been worth it so far.

I really recommend the Paxton and Whitfield cheese calendar. Decent sized pieces and nothing in the slightest bit disappointing. The only issue is keeping up with eating it. (Spoiler alert - we're not) But that's a good thing as we'll have post-Christmas cheese to enjoy.

Oh, Degusta comes up top for both of you today - would demolish those Skittles! I must admit, I'm liking the idea of a cheese calendar @Apprenante - have a real soft spot!

Mine today is a super version of my two least favourite green things, my kryptonite if you will 😁 Super Green Matcha... really not looking forward to it but hopefully it'll knock my socks off?
