Non-Beauty Advent Calendar Opening Thread

Not sure if there's already a thread somewhere and I am just blind but for the first time ever, I have a slightly posh calendar.

Now, will admit it's just the Twinings Tea one (which I may have won as part off the November Postcode Lottery) but I'm really excited and wondered if those of us with non-beauty calendars might like to share our bounty?

I will continue to lurk on the other threads as they are strangely compelling to me but would also love some company as I drink my way through the 24 days of Advent!

I've got this one. I think the custard will be lovely with Madeira cake x

@SanFranBeari will have to seriously think about getting a different one next year if things don’t pick up 😁. Will open today a bit later.

Another Digest tea here today although with different ingredients (and it smells gorgeous although not sure how that'll translate to the flavour of the tea!)

That said, ginger is such a Xmas'y flavour - as evidenced by your custard, @Tealfish (and agree with @Doglover73, I think that'll be really tasty!!) - and one of my current obsessions is the ginger chai latte you can get in the Xmas selection from Lidl, so am looking forward to drinking it later.

Or Jamaica Ginger Cake...? Too much ginger?

Smoked brie sounds delicious.

I'm going to get some liver and Google what fava beans are to have with this one.

The kids are going on at me to drink some more as they've realised if they put water and glitter in the little bottles you get quite a cool tornado effect when you shake them.

Ah they're just broad beans.

Breakfast tea today

Today has to be better, at least it’ll help me relax after the last couple of days 😁

Today's candle. These tealights last all evening, much longer than normal tea lights. I'm putting the half used ones back in the box now so I know what they are to light again.

Today’s offerings. I’m quite looking forward to trying the custard now. We are being very restrained here and waiting for DS to come home from uni next weekend before eating any of the calendar contents

Degusta here and I forgot to take pictures before I ate it so I’ve pinched one but it was horrible. Soggy biscuity type thing. Very disappointing after the first few days

I have never heard of Fentimans. I checked them out, they look right up my street. Will be giving them a try, so thanks 😊

@CAMHShelpgood grief, I was really hoping things would get better. Now I am not so sure, oh well we can still hope.

sorry, I missed your post. I think I will be searching for a different calendar next year, even though ours differ slightly. I haven’t been overly excited if I am honest.

I ordered this as something different before we have an empty nest next year. So far there is nothing that won’t get eaten and my DD is enjoying opening. Reckon the majority are products on promotion

My ginger tea was OK but not strong enough in flavour really - that's always been my biggest sadness with herbal teas... they smell incredible but never live up to the hype!

Am hoping against hope for some black tea of some description tomorrow.. I mean, I didn't pay for my calendar so I can't get too annoyed with the contents but I'd really like some kick!

Sadly, twas not to be... I've tried this one before and don't remember loving it but also, am sure I didnt hate it either. Perhaps if I drink it from my Starlight Express mug, that'll help 😁

Yes definitely, really enjoying it. We got the Laithwaites one. In day 24 there is a full size bottle of prosecco.

I have a bagmaking one - Day 8 are pretty labels 😀

My husband came home with gingerbread flavour Doritos the other day. He and the kids are eating them but I find them absolutely repulsive (and I like ginger).
