Teenage girls: must-have items this year?

XelaM · 14/10/2025 09:56

Every year the Christmas lists of many of the teenage girls (my own included) have quite often very similar must-have trending items. So what are they this year? I haven't got my 15-year-old daughter's list yet but trying to get a few items early. She's into all the trendy make-up and usual TikTok nonsense.

She also asked for a trip to a theme park but for various reasons I dont think that will happen.

Aww why not? It's possible to get some good prices tickets for places like Thorpe Park if outside of their peak days.

Hollister & cable knit combined! I’ve got my 14yo one of these. The grey v neck. It’s very nice. She has seen it and it’s an approved purchase.

Sent my daughter (17) the link and she said "I LOVE THEM ALL" so thank you! How is the sizing? DD is a 14/16 and likes slightly oversized - should we go L or XL?

Lots of different reasons, not just cost.

hby9628 · 17/10/2025 12:40

@TwistedSpouti would go XL. I’ve got my DD a large. We tried the medium and it did fit her but the sleeves were a bit short & she prefers oversize too. She’s a 12ish on top. It’s quite stretchy.

hby9628 · 17/10/2025 12:44

As an aside, when I sent the medium back to swap the size, they exchanged it foc so no additional postage charges which I thought was great.

Stowickthevast · 17/10/2025 13:50

@LittleGreenDuck Brandy is definitely the emperor's new clothes. Dd1 has a hoody from there and dd2 has one that looks identical to me from H&M but according to Dd1, they're completely different. The one size thing also does my head in, I call it the body shaming shop so glad if it has got a bit bigger.

The Hollister cable knit is great.

I am sick and tired of all this trendy stuff. I don’t have a teenager or any children, but if I did, I would not be encouraging all of this consumerism and waste

Great input there 😂

PrivateMusic · 17/10/2025 19:16

My 14 year olds wishlist:
vinyl records
cd’s
converse
Fugglers (those weird cuddly toys with teeth)
Beads for bracelet making
Official Taylor Swift merch

So useful thank you. My y7 nearly 12yr old dd has mentioned a lot of these brands but good to get an insight. We are off to London next weekend specifically to visit Brandy Melville!

We went to Covent Garden recently and visited Brandi Melville and a shop called Subdued across from it. Both were a massive hit. Fortune spent. You have been warned Grin

tetleyhead · 17/10/2025 19:57

Brandy? Brandi? I don’t even know. Don’t tell DD

lookonthebrightside0 · 17/10/2025 23:29

Which Ralph Lauren jumper is trendy?

I think you're making an assumption on the waste aspect of it. Most of the items suggested here are clothing which can be worn for years. My dd loved white fox and gymshark and hasn't been seen in anything other than her hoodie and leggings for at least the past year. She also doesn't go anywhere without her stanley cup. From that aspect, it certainly wasn't waste. I think it's about buying appropriately for your child. Would I spend a lot of money on ugg boots because they've been mentioned here, no because I know she hardly ever wears boots and they'd sit in a cupboard. But I can see plenty of items here that she has mentioned herself or would like and that I know she would make good use of.

leccybill · 19/10/2025 12:04

My 15yo doesn't gave a clue what she wants. She doesn't have Tiktok so doesn't see trends/brands being pushed.

I've got her:
Legally Blonde UK tour tickets
Adidas trainers
Fake tan gift set (from Home Bargains)

I'm seeing a rapid rise in Longchamp bags among the teen girls at my school. Might look at that.

FlamingoBiscuits · 20/10/2025 21:42

Does anyone know of any good Pandora charm bracelets-a-likes?

Don't want to get the real deal but both dds like mine.

If anyone sees any good offers on the Ralph Lauren cable knit jumper please let me know - I have 3 to buy for so not cheap!

These are the joggers - I think navy or grey. Mine prefer the cuffed ankles

https://www.urbanoutfitters.com/en-gb/shop/iets-frans-grey-harri-baggy-joggers2?color=004&searchparams=q%3Diets%2520frans%2520joggers

I wish they had offers, never seem to … maybe Bicester Village would be worth a try, I tried online but can’t see. Would be useful if anyone has been?

My 15 year old wants a lulu melon jacket - anyone know what the sizing is like? (& does any one any idea what jacket lol?)

she also wants gymshark leggings again any ideas on sizing? Reluctant to order clothes as she is usually a nightmare getting stuff to fit.

typically wears a 6 or 8 or xs but is only 5”3

@Powerof321 I bought the Gymshark training leggings for my dd15, she is 5’6” but very slender (although not much waist) and usually I’d buy her a size 6 for her top, a size 6-8 for her bottom half.

I figured that since Gymshark seems to do a lot of stuff for weight training the cut might be for bulkier frames so I bought XS.

They arrived and honestly looked like they had shrunk in the wash! But somehow DD slid them on and they fit like a glove, like they had been sprayed on (rare that she fills out leggings since she’s skinny) - incredibly flattering on her.

If I bought another style I’d go for a Small I think.

PS I bought some Sweaty Betty leggings on Vinted for a bargain and those were size small. We tried xs but xs definitely too small, if that helps you gauge sizing.

Thanks i was thinking of trying small but worried they’ll all bunch up at the ankles if too long!

stupid me “lulu melon” 🤣 it’s a lululemon define jacket she wants which looks like a £120 zipper?!

The lululemon jackets are really flattering - my daughter absolutely loves hers! I will check what size she has. Can't remember. She has the pink one, but I think any of their colours look good.

Wow ! I wish I had a teenager daughter that enjoyed these fashion trends . Some of the lists are very long . Are they just suggestions or do people tend to buy them all? So what is the average to spend these days . Do boys also have very comprehensive lists of trends they like ?

I definitely don’t buy it all but having the list just means that’s she getting the things she actually wants and the gifts will get used and not chucked in the back of her wardrobe.

Yes, DS had equal lists but usually consisting of trainers, coats and hoodies.

Stowickthevast · 21/10/2025 07:59

@FlamingoBiscuits apparently Italian charm bracelets are also a thing.

I bought a non Pandora bracelet for dd1 last year - it's actually better quality and was more expensive but apparently wrong so she's asked for a Pandora again!

Theresalotgoingon · 21/10/2025 08:25

I don’t get them everything but I have twin girls and their birthday is December so I do have to get a fair chunk!

we went to Bicester recently and have taken a gamble by getting the cable knit jumpers in girls size XL (age 14-16). They may be too short in the arms is my worry but for £45 I can re-gift or sell on Vinted. I wouldn’t buy on Vinted due to the number of fakes. For reference the ladies cable knits were £130 I think.

Ohh I might go to our local outlet and have a look. DD is short so might be ok, but she is more size 10-12 then 6-8 so might be too small.

Thank you! No idea on sizing on those - does it look like a zipper? It’s what she sent me a link too & wants it for the gym apparently so just a black one 🙈 grudge paying so much especially if it looks generic and like any cheaper one!
