Teenage girls: must-have items this year?

XelaM · 14/10/2025 09:56

Every year the Christmas lists of many of the teenage girls (my own included) have quite often very similar must-have trending items. So what are they this year? I haven't got my 15-year-old daughter's list yet but trying to get a few items early. She's into all the trendy make-up and usual TikTok nonsense.

Does anyone know of any good Pandora charm bracelets-a-likes?

Don't want to get the real deal but both dds like mine.

i’d just get them a pandora one. My daughter has had hers coming up to 5 years & it still looks good & is worn almost daily.

nomination bracelets are also still popular (here anyway) she has one of those too as does my 11 year old. The “charms” on those actually annoy me more & i think pandora looks better & more expensive for not much more.

mine has also mentioned thomas sabo bracelets recently - i had one about 15 years ago 🙄 as some of her friends now have those too apparently. I draw the line at 3 charm bracelets though

Sent my daughter (17) the link and she said "I LOVE THEM ALL" so thank you! How is the sizing? DD is a 14/16 and likes slightly oversized - should we go L or XL?

L is probably fine as they run a bit big. Mine tried xs on (usually wears xs or s or an 8 depending on the shop) & it was still a bit “loose” but she personally prefers more fitted so i am trying to get xxs and none online so i think L would be fine (hopefully) especially if she likes it a bit oversized

What is the sizing for a White Fox hoodie?
My dd is 11, would love one for xmas, she’s slim and petite.

My 11yo dd has xxxs and xxs hoodies, she’s also slim and petite, the xxs is slightly big on her but she didn’t care.

My 14 year old DD could do with some more jumpers / hoodies, so I thought I'd get some cool mum points and look at Brandy Melville. The hoodies look like plain zip ups that I could get in New Look or Sainsbury's! I was expecting some kind of logo or feature to distinguish them from other brands. Am I missing something?! And they only seem to come in one size, is that right?

Perhaps I'm not a cool mum after all 🤣

Yes, Brandy Melville are one sized. They do wash well and sell well on Vinted. I made the mistake of going to the shop in Covent Garden, was heaving and so hot! Another shop my DD (14 - year 10) and her friends like is 'Subdued'. They seem to do different sizes as well. Some good ideas on this thread - thank you!

Wow ! I wish I had a teenager daughter that enjoyed these fashion trends . Some of the lists are very long . Are they just suggestions or do people tend to buy them all? So what is the average to spend these days . Do boys also have very comprehensive lists of trends they like ?

Ours has a November birthday so her wish list includes that. It also includes things from relatives.

We try to include "needs" so for instance we were hoping that her phone would last until her birthday and be her birthday present but it died a couple of weeks ago so we cant. She'll get pj's and socks as a christmas present but she'd get those anyway but they do get wrapped as presents.

Budget wise, we dont really have one but go by when we think shes had enough which may or may not include all her list. We get stuff during the year too and have never had any issues with second hand stuff which makes it a bit better.

One thing we try to do, is follow her specifics. So if she asks a particular black bag, we will get that. We wont look at it and think that is crap and get her a different black bag. We'll either buy what she requests or wont buy it at all. I was raised by my nanna and she used to buy alternatives. One year I had a very specific jumper on my birthday list. That's all I wanted. She decided the jumper was too expensive (which I could have accepted) but then spent more than the cost of the jumper on 3 cheaper jumpers that I didnt want or need. I was so disappointed! I know I was lucky to get anything but honesty, she did that a lot and wasted her money and I wish she hadnt. I think the jumpers got worn a couple of times out of politeness.

100% agree!! There’s no point getting similar or a copy as it just causes disappointment. Even if it means they can’t get as many gifts or if a few family members have to club together I would always try and get the brand or specific item they want otherwise end up buying twice anyway.

OnionBag · 21/10/2025 15:43

Can someone explain the point of knot pillows to me? They look so uncomfortable.

whatafaf · 21/10/2025 18:16

DD15 hasn’t given any ideas yet. Last year she got Uggs, Hollister knitted hoody and a few other bits like lush gift sets.

I’m thinking of multi styling hair equipment this year but clueless on that kind of thing. Also under consideration are a cuddle cushion for when she’s sitting up in bed and a weighted blanket which she’s mentioned before. She also wants a fluffy big hot water bottle which I haven’t found yet or a microwaveable version. I picked up the sundae Christmas shower foam set as I think she will like that.

hby9628 · 21/10/2025 18:48

@whatafafwhat was the shower set you purchased? Sounds interesting.

hby9628 · 21/10/2025 18:50

I picked up this today for my DD. It looks
decent

Absolutely agree, we try and use birthdays and Christmas’s as an opportunity to get new things and try and hold out on necessities if we can. When it comes to their Christmas lists we always get what they want, not something similar. We’ve always limited the number of Santa gifts so we can do this, even if it goes against every budgeting, frugal instinct I have. Growing up I never got the things I wanted so I make sure my DDs get what they have asked for. They have been taught the value of things so never ask for anything ridiculously expensive.

whatafaf · 21/10/2025 21:42

@hby9628I think I saw it recommended on another thread. It’s in the boots 3 for 2 though I didn’t see anything else I fancy in the deal yet. Edited to say pic attached but under review.

Soonenough · 21/10/2025 23:12

I agree about getting EXACTLY what they ask for . That includes everybody . I know that by the time I have requested something I have put a lot if thought , compared it to other shades /sizes / brands . My MIL never listened to my DCs or me and consequently wasted her money on unwanted gifts . She definitely went for quantity rather than quality . These days kids are so savvy that they do know the value of stuff . It's not called a wish list for nothing .

I don’t get them everything but I have twin girls and their birthday is December so I do have to get a fair chunk!

we went to Bicester recently and have taken a gamble by getting the cable knit jumpers in girls size XL (age 14-16). They may be too short in the arms is my worry but for £45 I can re-gift or sell on Vinted. I wouldn’t buy on Vinted due to the number of fakes. For reference the ladies cable knits were £130 I think.

I can't find the kids' RL cable knit jumpers in XL. The highest age I see online is 6yrs. I would definitely get the kids XL if I saw it.

My DD(13) is suddenly all about Victoria’s Secret. So far the only thing she owns is the Vanilla body spray, but she’s coveting a pink and white striped VS scarf that she’s seen on Tik Tok (I think) but from what I can see isn’t available anywhere yet? And also a vintage VS off the shoulder jumper that has Victoria’s Secret across the front. I’m keeping an eye on Vinted but there’s none in her size at the moment and the ones I can see are £££!

OhCobblers · 22/10/2025 08:52

@Mummynextdoor you can get a knot pillow from Dunelm and Amazon

Did these jumpers have a v-neck or crew neck?

hby9628 · 22/10/2025 14:22

@whatafafthank you. Have you smelt them? Not sure about gingerbread shower foam!

whatafaf · 22/10/2025 15:14

@hby9628 no I haven’t, hoping it will be her thing. They do have a few others just not Christmassy ones. DD like’s the popular vanilla sprays mentioned above from Victoria’s Secrets etc but also likes things like Lush sticky dates perfume which might not be to everyone’s taste!

Crew neck - they had green, bright pink and a couple of other colours. No navy or cream though

Ddakji · 22/10/2025 19:25

According to DD the Brandy Melville on the King’s Road we went to this weekend is much bigger (2 floors) than the one in Covent Garden, and there’s a Subdued there as well.

I have to say, I came out of it feeling like an old heffalump with bad skin. All the staff were beautiful, very slim girls with amazing skin.

Their returns policy is SHIT

ChasingTheDuck · 23/10/2025 12:58

Not quite teen (age 12) but has acted about 15 for years.

Top of the list is a belly button piercing! (Which I've agreed to!). Some Hollister stuff, some bioma and some new AirPods as hers have just died (passed on AirPods to her dad to buy!). Some decent pimple patches for stocking and some lip glosses.

white fox is firmly out around here (to the point I'll be vinted'ing a blinking nearly new set before Xmas I expect).
