The Christmas Bargain Thread No 2 - The one where it all went very fast

1000 replies

RainbowZebraWarrior · 05/09/2025 18:32

Posting on behalf of @Reastie as I'm guessing she's busy and the last thread was almost full.

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread <a class="break-all" href="https://_[[//https//www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

Also just got this one just to mention BLC also works on it

I’m trying to get the welcome offer 15% - I’ve signed up but can’t see how it works? Any tips for a clarins newbie?

IlovePond · 14/09/2025 19:06

@Realfastfoodie - try putting WELCOME15 in the promo code box.

Sadly, I was already a customer!

I've purposely waited to join these threads to stop myself buying unnecessarily and impulsively.
But I have finally started my shopping! So thanks for the bargains so far.
I got lots of makeup goodies for dd2 (13) from homebargains to make an advent calendar and stocking fillers. Also bought each dd a gel nail lamp for £2.99, some body mists, set of mens lynx for £7.99, and crystal bracelets for 99p. A light up LED mirror for dd2 for £7.99 and a wavey hair styler for £2.99.
Then a hug a lumps each as both love a cuddly or weighted blanket for pmt pains, so these will be perfect.
And I did an amazon haul at 60% off for some thermal tops for me, a few stocking fillers and random bits for our bad santa game with family. Spent £48

Where did you get the hair waver from please?

All the first bits were from homebargains. It is a non heat one. But she's enjoying experimenting with her hair at the moment so will probably like it!

My local Sainsbury's had lots of homeware on sale such as thermos flasks, crockery, cutlery & bedding.

I bought a Habitat cast iron casserole dish similar to a Le Creuset one for £23 reduced from £35.
https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/product/habitat-33-litre-cast-iron-casserole-dish-orange

There's lots of good offers particularly for those buying for first time university students.

Just to say…I used to work at Sainsbury’s head office. The cast iron they have is very good and will last years and years

TherebytheGraceofGodgoI · 14/09/2025 19:41

@Loulouli I’ve been using the chocolate shaker daily for about 3years, love it, although I have worn the cap out and had to buy new.
I buy my hot chocolate from the following, depending on any discounts.
The Chocolate Society
Cocoacanopy (which Waitrose sells)
Pendragon drinks.
I had a look on line last week and there are now loads of small companies selling hot chocolate pieces which I will be trying after getting through my stash. I tend to buy in bulk as it’s cheaper and have 3Kg to finish off first.
edited to add, whilst these are all good, I’m yet to find amazing hot chocolate. The Chocolate Society came close a while ago and I ate more chocolate than I put in my drink, but then they moved premises and I swear the chocolate is different now. I guess different batches can taste different

There was a personalised code at the top of the screen to put into the discount box.

Thanks for the heads up from the poster who told us about it - I got tempted into buying some much nicer moisturiser than I normally would!

I didn’t see about the 15% so ended up just using the BLC 10% 🫣😭🤣 I think someone has posted the code again further down 💛

This was one of my best buys a couple of years ago for my hot chocolate obsessed son. He still uses it occasionally now and the chocolate was lovely too.

The set with the shaker and chocolate -do you know roughly how many hot chocolates you’d get from that bag please?

TherebytheGraceofGodgoI · 14/09/2025 20:27

@Broken12 if you are a first time customer, you can get 15% off at the chocolate society

That’s a good question! I just asked him and he said he used two tablespoons of the chocolate each time, so around 30g I guess. However, it seems odd that on the website it doesn’t actually say how much is in each box of the hot chocolate! I know it was a good few hot chocs though. I would guess maybe 8-10? I’ll see if there’s any left in the cupboard so I can check the size of the pack….

BananaWoman999 · 14/09/2025 21:02

Anyone with BLC - Adidas offer boost on at the moment so that the discount is increased to 25%. This includes Sambas and similar (which are usually excluded from offers).

Not massively barginous, but a good £20+ saved on the £90 pairs.

Yalz · 14/09/2025 21:39

sparkle58 · 14/09/2025 17:19

If you choose Yodel delivery it’s £2.85 (making total £13.85 not £12.85 as I previously said, there was a hand cream for £10 but it sold out) and WELCOME15 also gets you 15% off

Edited

Thank you. I wasn’t at that stage, but clicking through I could choose the £2.95 Yodel delivery and the 15% off because I joined their Club.

Whilst we are on the subject of clarins - are there any particularly wonderful or bargainous things I should consider? I don’t normally buy it, a bit out of my price range, but if there might be something that might make a present (both my mum and I have aging sensitive skin)

Fillybuster · 14/09/2025 22:02

Thanks for the Clarins alert, I use the instant eye make up remover which I usually purchase through Amazon - the additional postage & product cost net off against the free samples which are all a good size and super useful for work trips.
Also purchased the chemistry set on Amazon. But mostly shopping for myself so far, it appears!

I really love the facial oils. In particular lotus oil and blue orchid oil. In theory the blue orchid is for dehydrated skin and the lotus I think is for oily /combination skin, but I confess that I like and use both. My skin is fairly dehydrated if anything but the scent of the lotus oil is gorgeous and both are lovely for my sensitive (ageing!) skin.

I use them at night and find that my skin just glows the next day. I apply to clean skin then follow up with a moisturiser afterwards.

the whole routine of using an oil at night is really relaxing and soothing - especially in winter 😍

Fuckingfuckssake · 14/09/2025 22:59

Can I just ask about the heated throws, you have to use them plugged in? Can you get a wireless version?

NancyCarey · 14/09/2025 23:02

Anyone buying from clarins to get the extra samples - I just logged in and spotted that there’s a referral offer which I’ve never noticed before. Gives £20 off £80 if anyone is really splurging 🤣.

Thank you! And to pp who also shared their purchases. I’ve thrown a random order in 🤞

Morning all, any recommendations for lava lamps please?

I recently got a lava lamp from dunelm on offer for £8 something. Worth a look.
