The Christmas Bargain Thread No 2 - The one where it all went very fast

RainbowZebraWarrior · 05/09/2025 18:32

Posting on behalf of @Reastie as I'm guessing she's busy and the last thread was almost full.

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread <a class="break-all" href="https://_[[//https//www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

I wasn’t going to but have done a haul order, over £100 for just £33. Lots of random bits and bobs put keeping my fingers crossed they work out ok.

Theresalotgoingon · 06/09/2025 00:59

Thanks for the thread and tip on haul! I have spent £17 on £60+ value of goods and even the £60 was good price! Got some bits now for stocking fillers (initial / letter jewellery box and iron on patches). Thank you!

Theraffarian · 06/09/2025 06:27

Just popped in another haul order . Was kicking myself last night as I spent a while filling my basket and then the thing I actually wanted went out of stock . However this morning it is back . Definitely not Christmas related but I use disposable gloves for some gardening and cleaning , and the ones I got last time were far better than the box I bought via normal Amazon and much cheaper . Also stocked up on really cheap ribbon for wrapping presents , under £1 for 50 yards . A couple of bits I ordered last time for stocking fillers that I realised other people would like too I’ve added on . I also found packs of 100 3inch pull bows for under £1 as well .

Resss · 06/09/2025 07:05

What is haul? 🙂 can someone post the link?

It’s part of Amazon. If you are using the app then scroll across the tabs at the top & it should be an option there

It’s just a new part of Amazon . If you search Amazon haul it will show for you .

Not sure how this would translate to present giving, but having read lots about paid magazine subscriptions I thought I'd mention an app called Libby which is linked to your library card. You can register and borrow a very, very wide range for free, loads for kids to read as well, e.g The week junior, National Geographic Kids. We love it

Got an oodie style top from Fatface sale for my niece £10 down from £40.

ive also booked the Lego John Lewis grotto - hoping its good as we will be making a special trip to Cardiff!

eekwhatnow · 06/09/2025 08:24

@Lewiscapaldiscatwhere was the bag from? The fiorelli website?
Thanks RodentGirl for the tip on Garden Trading. I got some stuff from there that I think family will love.

Which fiorelli bag was this, please?

GRCP · 06/09/2025 08:34

Just got my OHS order and really pleased with it - just reassuring people after there was a discussion on the last thread! Seems hit and Miss but I’m really pleased with everything I got (cushions, throws, fleece, socks)

In my experience, most stuff is OK, but the bedding is poor quality.

GRCP · 06/09/2025 09:29

@zacsGrannyah good tip - I was actually tempted by some bedding but didn’t in the end

RainbowZebraWarrior · 06/09/2025 09:41

I have joined in with the haul action! I do craft fairs so I've bought festive table runners, ribbon stickers, gift boxes and bags, washi tape etc. £57 worth for £17. I also got a Halloween table runner for less than a quid that I noticed folk are trying to sell on Vinted for £7!

50% off a lot of candles and other homeware in M&S yesterday I noticed. I reckon they will reduce them further as they will need the space for Christmas stock. Also got a few bargains in the food hall (Disaronno for £12 and Almond extract for £2) and also some t shirts in the clothing sale.

Not at all bargainous but the Christmas event bookings at John Lewis stores are now open to My John Lewis members via the app (click on rewards). I took 3yo DD for afternoon tea and story time with Father Christmas last year and it was very special! £30 for the two of us, including a hot drink and gingerbread each, plus a good quality present. It’s Lego themed this year.

We’ve also booked to visit the John Lewis Father Christmas Grotto (different location) which is eye-wateringly priced (£66 for a family of 4) but hoping it’ll be of a similarly high quality!

Hey

how long was this experience for? Debating it for my 2 who will be 3&6 in Jan. x

Eggmcmuffin · 06/09/2025 10:02

I have a free delivery code for smiggle valid until tomorrow as they screwed up an order of mine. Not sure if it's linked to my email or not but worth a try if you're ordering anyway. K7NBAWIZ.

Fairyfave · 06/09/2025 10:19

Niece has liked the Smiggle colour and sparkle packs in the past. But she’s outgrown Smiggle now. Can anyone recommend other retailers that do similar packs please? Thanks x

weareallqueens · 06/09/2025 10:19

Smiggle have another big sale on, if anyone is looking for stocking bits.

Thank you, just bought myself the Anouk handbag that I'll pop away for Christmas for £19.80!

Toooldforlonghair · 06/09/2025 11:05

MrsMAFs Thanks for the Pandora info. It's my DD's birthday next week and she loves Pandora.

Also same DD tells me that Primark are selling copies of these very expensive PJs. This design and others. My DD bought a Primark pair to 'road test' them. (She has excema and found the Lounge brand material helps.) Her conclusion is tha the Primark just as good as the branded ones as far as her skin is concerned. Not sure if they will last as long but that's another story.

I think DD is right about the Primark ones being a good buy. They sold out within 24 hours at our local branch!

Hello thread two!

Wishingonastar321 · 06/09/2025 11:33

Love this thread - thank you ordered Nordic socks just arrived and they are lovely 😊

MrsMAFs · 05/09/2025 19:05

Pandora have some items half price today. I got my dd a silver bracelet with rose gold clasp for £35. They have the disney 100th anniversary bracelet down to £65 from £125. Lots of other items too.

I believe Pandora are doing a massive price hike in the near future to absorb the us tariff situation.
So these are more of a bargain.
