Thread 14 - the one with BLACK FRIDAY!

1000 replies

Reastie · 26/11/2024 07:55

I think I always (or nearly always!) call the one with Black Friday this name. I'm assuming this thread will see us through the weekend and I'm not premature!!! Make sure you keep your Black Friday bargains genuine bargains - not everything that looks reduced actually is as good a deal as it looks.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

My two (dogs) loved the cheese freebies I got. So although I took advantage of the freebies and got cheap products, they’ve definitely gained a customer from me.
I've placed an additional two orders already.

Our pug loves their products too so I’ll regularly order from them. 😊

Has anyone got a discount code for adidas? Waited for months to see if the football boots I need go in the sale and of course they haven’t!

Amazon have some gift cards reduced in their Black Friday sales. I was looking for a light cinema one (typically they don't have it so if anyone has a discount code I'd be extremely grateful) they have The Vue & Odeon £25 gift voucher for £21.25.

They also have New Look & Pizza Hut that I could see at a quick glance

Could anyone who uses gym equipment at home recommend something simple but effective for an older person with coordination issues. Intention is to keep strength and mobility. They use a rower and a ski erg at the gym, which they like, lift weights and have dumbbells at home. Looking for a piece of equipment but not treadmill or stair climber as hard to get on/off. Ideas and bargains really appreciated.

I have 3 young men in their early 20s to buy for and no ideas! They're into brands and sports. I don't know why I'm drawing a blank!

How about Garmin watches? My DS age almost 22 is getting one as he runs and is very sporty.
Nike run socks
nike dri fit top
skin care set
Zara quarter zip jumper or sweatshirt (these seem to be in for 29 somethings)

Look Fantastic have a Hugo Boss bottled set of 100ml, plus 30ml for £58.80. I think this is a good price? Before purchasing I thought I'd check if there were any better deals or ways to get more money off Grin

I’ve ordered one and it’s not here yet but people said it’s just in a box. I am splitting mine so it doesn’t matter for me. But you could easily pop in a gift bag with some tissue paper on top ?

Someone please help me make a decision here.

Before the BF sales started Pandora had a bracelet and 2 charms for £99 offer. I held off thinking BF would be a better offer. It's not. It's £5 more. It's only £5 I know but do I wait and see if the £99 offer comes back after BF or just order now and cut my losses for £5.

They do have the £99 offer on a lot throughout the year but I can’t remember if it comes back before Xmas. You could get it now and they have an extended returns period for Xmas so you could always return the more expensive one if it does come back down in price

@RJnomore1 @Londonmummy66 @IDontKnowWhatYouMean Thank you very much for your responses, I think a foldable rower would be great..

Monzo users: don't forget to check your app for cashback offers!

All you do is add them then spend with your card as usual, no clicking via links etc. I can see on mine there's Lego at 10% on £100+ spends, Vinted at 3%, Disney shop, various supermarkets... So you can stack the Monzo cashback with your usual Quidco/tcb or discount codes to max your savings.

I've just bought 2 lego sets from asda, one had 30% off and the other was in the spend £25 get 20% off offer. At the checkout it has taken the 20% off of both sets. The £30 sonic lego went down to £21 with the 30% and then a further 20% came off making it £16.80 which I was very happy with. Might be worth a look.

Catching up on the thread. I've just been to Asda!

Can I ask which Lego sonic set please? Son would like 2 particular sets. Also, what's the 20% off offer, is it for everyone? Thanks!

I need to do a less than £20 order at The Disney Store but the postage cost is £5.99. I've had a google, but can't see a free delivery code anywhere, anyone else know of one please?
