Thread 14 - the one with BLACK FRIDAY!

1000 replies

Reastie · 26/11/2024 07:55

I think I always (or nearly always!) call the one with Black Friday this name. I'm assuming this thread will see us through the weekend and I'm not premature!!! Make sure you keep your Black Friday bargains genuine bargains - not everything that looks reduced actually is as good a deal as it looks.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

I've just bought 2 lego sets from asda, one had 30% off and the other was in the spend £25 get 20% off offer. At the checkout it has taken the 20% off of both sets. The £30 sonic lego went down to £21 with the 30% and then a further 20% came off making it £16.80 which I was very happy with. Might be worth a look.

Can anyone recommend a good hot chocolate kit that can be posted directly to the recipient, please? Ideally one that contains the hot chocolate as well as the marshmallows, sprinkles and all that jazz, please😀

There’s a Galaxy Hot Chocolate Station and a Celebrations version. These are both Amazon so can send directly

Does anyone know the cheapest place for a meta quest? Also, do I need to get anything else to go with it? And what size memory? I'm clueless!!

I just got a meta quest 3s with 128gb memory from argos. It had £15 off and I purchased through quidco who had £20 bonus if you make a £100 or over purchase with Argos. Don't think I can get it much cheaper than that. Maybe you can check the very new customers 20% off deal but some tech stuff is excluded and you have to be a new customer.

applepinkierainbow · 29/11/2024 09:21

A bit niche but if you have Lego insiders make sure you check the offers section. I was able to use 200 of my points to claim a £5 voucher (which was a better deal than usual point redemptions). I could buy 3 of these so a £15 discount. The set I wanted was the Lego Friends Sports Centre https://www.lego.com/en-gb/product/sports-center-41744 which was reduced to 50.99 from £84.99. I got it for £34.99 with the free postage still applied. V pleased!

Every item of Nike clothing or footwear ds wants is either OOS or has no discounts at all 😭 (lots excluded from promotions on Nike or JD websites).
I cannot spend £175 on shoes for a 12 year old!

ChristmasJumperz · 29/11/2024 09:52

Heatholders have 15% off today (any other codes offered as you checkout don't stack). Not much but it's free delivery so got some gloves a little bit cheaper.

Noticed the microwave toastie maker someone recommended a few threads ago is also down £5 to £19.99 Could make good student gift? Toastie maker

Could anyone who uses gym equipment at home recommend something simple but effective for an older person with coordination issues. Intention is to keep strength and mobility. They use a rower and a ski erg at the gym, which they like, lift weights and have dumbbells at home. Looking for a piece of equipment but not treadmill or stair climber as hard to get on/off. Ideas and bargains really appreciated.

Southsiderg4 · 29/11/2024 10:01

Sephora has up to 30% off today but as part of their membership (free) you can choose 2 brands to get 10% off (this is year round) and these discounts stack which I wasn’t expecting. So I just ordered a rare beauty blush which was 20% off and got an extra 10% off as rare beauty is one of my selected brands! Very happy with that.

@Lovemusic82 depends if you're looking for something higher end precious metal or not. If not I got teen nephew a nomination plain curb bracelet from a company called Luxe by Hugh Rice. I hadn't heard of them before but it was cheap so took a chance and it arrived really quickly and had all the packaging to gift. Was impressed.

Amazonmulu · 29/11/2024 10:11

Lottie dolls are hugely reduced on Amazon. Some are down to £9.99 which is over 50% off rrp.

Plus you get a free hair care set (worth £9.99) with each purchase.
