Thread 14 - the one with BLACK FRIDAY!

1000 replies

Reastie · 26/11/2024 07:55

I think I always (or nearly always!) call the one with Black Friday this name. I'm assuming this thread will see us through the weekend and I'm not premature!!! Make sure you keep your Black Friday bargains genuine bargains - not everything that looks reduced actually is as good a deal as it looks.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

I had an M&S 20% off pjs land in my sparks reward which stacks with the 2 for £16 offers on kids pjs.

Could you be a new customer on Very with a different email address and payment method? Or do they do a credit check and know who you are? I'm also in the market for a switch but have previously bought from Very

I wondered this but it’s a bit risky to check I think.

Carrie76 · 29/11/2024 07:05

Montirex have 20% off sitewide with code BF20. This is a big label with DS12 and his friends.

Carrie76 · 29/11/2024 07:06

Mahabis also have some good BF deals, expensive slippers but really fab and supportive.

MaybeItsTimeForMeNow · 29/11/2024 07:15

I definitely had a credit check when I did mine. Soft check prior to approval and then I believe proper credit check. I know my credit has updated since the purchase.

Someaddedsugar · 29/11/2024 06:23

Thanks @Needtostartover, I thought there was a copy but the UO offer is a great reduction so will get the real thing!

I’d never heard of it and I’m too nervous to as teen as it will be another must have 😄

(wish there was just a like button on here)

Turtleoo · 29/11/2024 07:35

Thanks, probably best not to risk a second Very account. Are there still any deals on cashback anywhere if I buy from Currys? I like their bundle best. Quidco only has 1.5% cashback I think. Is the Rakuten referral offer still working?

Re Jellycat, maybe there's somewhere to buy them that do generic discounts?

Yes I used the generic discount at Lisa Angel to get the jellycat croissant reduced. It made it the cheapest price I could find online.

Does anyone know the cheapest place for a meta quest? Also, do I need to get anything else to go with it? And what size memory? I'm clueless!!

DS got one for his birthday in November, the standard memory seems fine. He covets a bobo headstrap(more comfortable than the one it comes with apparently) and some handset covers (which give better grip apparently). But has been playing it daily without those things so definitely not essential. From my point of view I'd get a case for it, as I'm sick of tripping over the bloody thing in the living room! Not sure where's cheapest currently, his was from Argos.

Carrie76 · 29/11/2024 07:57

Anyone know anything about massage guns? DS 14 has just announced he’d like one.

bumblebeedee · 29/11/2024 08:04

does anyone have theworks code they could dm me please?

PaddingtonTwinkles · 29/11/2024 08:06

Pooch and mutt have some great bargains again. Get the free gifts too if you’re quick

IlovePond · 29/11/2024 08:12

@Carrie76 - massage guns are not recommended for children/teens without adult supervision due to the high risk of serious injury with incorrect use.

Having said that, here’s a list of ones with good reviews if you are going to buy one:

cheesychipsontheoche · 29/11/2024 08:13

Quidco are doing an opt in £15 bonus on very today as well which might help with the meta quest if it tracks

Lovemusic82 · 29/11/2024 08:18

Has anyone seen any deals on men’s bracelets? Ideally a bracelet that comes in smaller sizes? Looking for something for my dad but he has small wrists.

FriendlyLaundryMonster · 29/11/2024 08:22

MeanMrMustardSeed · 29/11/2024 08:24

Can anyone recommend a good hot chocolate kit that can be posted directly to the recipient, please? Ideally one that contains the hot chocolate as well as the marshmallows, sprinkles and all that jazz, please😀

This was recommended at early in the thread. It’s milkshakes rather than hot chocolate, but maybe close enough? Apologies for the long link
