Thread 14 - the one with BLACK FRIDAY!

1000 replies

Reastie · 26/11/2024 07:55

I think I always (or nearly always!) call the one with Black Friday this name. I'm assuming this thread will see us through the weekend and I'm not premature!!! Make sure you keep your Black Friday bargains genuine bargains - not everything that looks reduced actually is as good a deal as it looks.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Thanks for the heads up. I had my eye on a body mist but didn't want to pay £18.00 for it. In the sale it had gone down to £11.00 so snapped it up! Thanks.

A light up board for tracing?

crayola do a good one (I share with the kids 😁) but there are others. Crayola definitely have a car design tracing pack (free) on their website to use with them - might be a bit young I can't remember

or there are some really good "how to draw" book series that include a car/vehicle one

drawing pencils & fine liners

Do you know would the crayola one be suitable for a3 paper? Need a cheap one for my son who is doing GCSE technology lol

Love this thread so much.

Wondering if anyone has done the research on Nintendo Switches and good deals etc. I know absolutely zero about these things but 10 year old would really like one. I’ve discovered there is a new version due next year and there are a couple of versions out currently. I think I should get the Nintendo Switch Oled because it’s the most recent but is that necessary.is there much difference in the previous model?

I know he would like FIFA 25 and probably Hogwarts Legacy. Other than that I’m at a loss and would appreciate any suggestions/advice.

Thank you 🎄

Someaddedsugar · 29/11/2024 06:11

Did someone say there was a Sundae shower cream dupe? I'm sure I saw it on these boards but can't find it and starting to doubt myself!

Definately go for oled as it has better screen and battery. Have you tried very? They have good offers and if you are a new customer the extra 20% works on it (hogarts bundle works out at £207.50)

Thank you for that. Definitely leaning towards that one. Unfortunately I signed up to Very a few weeks back and used on an iPad so don’t have that 20% option now (gutted I didn’t think ahead 😄🤷🏻‍♀️).

Is it this? They’re reduced at Boots/Urban Outfitters. Ignore me if it’s not what you meant 😄

Not sure if already mentioned as haven't had time to catch up on the thread but some decent savings to be had online at Victoria's Secret and Pretty Little Thing. Also Look Fantastic had 40% off Sol DJ - not sure if still running though

They sell light pads on Amazon that range from £15ish to £30 for the A3 ones. They are perfect for GCSE. We use them for GCSE Art. Really recommend for a cheap light box.
