Thread 14 - the one with BLACK FRIDAY!

1000 replies

Reastie · 26/11/2024 07:55

I think I always (or nearly always!) call the one with Black Friday this name. I'm assuming this thread will see us through the weekend and I'm not premature!!! Make sure you keep your Black Friday bargains genuine bargains - not everything that looks reduced actually is as good a deal as it looks.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

nicky2512 · 28/11/2024 17:41

I’m looking for a book for my dad that’s a bit dear everywhere (Coffin Island Kate Ellis) so thought I’d get it along with my wrapping paper from WH Smith and save 15% - have they stopped doing wrapping paper?? Or is there something wrong with me?
I always get my paper and tags there ☹️

nicky2512 · 28/11/2024 17:43

Oh and this may already be known about but 20% off everything on the Joe and Seph popcorn.

Have you tried looking at World of Books? They have a copy in very good condition (which could be as good as new in my experience) for less than £13 if you use the code SOL15

Has anyone any techy gifts for a 12/13 year old. He has a stylus for the mobile, and a light that changes colour as well as the light up gaming keyboard and mouse.

Only cheap - but I have ordered my teens headphone/buds cleaning sets for about £3 on Amazon as stocking fillers for their earbuds.

Hearst Magazines - can you order a subscription and then cancel? Or is it just too good to be true?

This is me!!! I've got greetings cards hidden in every nook of the house!!!

ShinyPrettyThings87 · 28/11/2024 19:15

@tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz 🤣🤣 mine are teetering up high on the cupboard shelf... Guaranteed there's going to be an avalanche when it comes to reaching up for them 🤣🙈 but atleast it saves going to the shops anytime there's a birthday etc 😁

SootspriteSearcher · 28/11/2024 19:17

@AltitudeCheck she already has numerous flags and towels for swimming but I will definitely think about what other fabric items I could use that would double as a gift to wrap!

@Justkeepsmilingx I love this idea and really want to try it 🤣 I've made the chocolate sleighs before!

@evevtheria I love those book bouquets! Definitely going to do this for the special books I've ordered her and for my eldest daughters v expensive manga books 🤣 I'm also loving the different wrapping to make the flag too!

Thank you everyone for your ideas! Going to get creative with wrapping these books 😂

Tried to create a link & tried to copy and paste but failed miserably. Argentum Apothecary (website = Argentum.com) have 25% off everything with free gifts- think it was full range of small samples of their fragrances.

Am currently really enjoying their ‘Lover’ fragrance which smells to me like a slightly spicy rose. Their range is luxury skincare with natural ingredients & fragrance as skincare (no alcohol). Very prettily packaged too. For anyone in London, they have a store in Notting Hill with a cafe and treatment room. Am hoping to go and take a look sometime.

Thank you so much for the thread- have bought daughter Loop earplugs at 25% off.

Any way to get free delivery? Seen a lovely christmas mug but delivery is almost half price of mug lol

Usernamechangeforthis12 · 28/11/2024 19:58

I’ve just had a Black Friday early access email from OHS and many of the prices on the website have increased….

Magnoliasunrise · 28/11/2024 19:53

Me too!!

Jellycat are never reduced - they are super strict about retailers doing this and if caught out they banish them into the netherworld…..

Occasionally you will see certain old
lines reduced everywhere but the latest ones, never.
