Thread 6 - the one with Otis and the Christmas miracle

@Cupofteaandbiscuits and @NewtyCutey loved the happy reunited story with Otis.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

How much do you tip the bin men? There are loads- maybe six?- in our local team. Do you do it as a single tip or individuals?

I just put £10.00 in a card, and a tub of chocolates and give them to the truck driver.

Is it just me or is the soccer04 website down for anyone else? Any other recommendations for football kits please?

Would you mind linking this please. I can't find it on Amazon at that price. Thank you so much.

I just checked to grab the link but it’s saying unavailable and all sold out sorry :(

Apologies if these have been prev posted.
B&M finds
The bubbleology gift set looked like better presentation and quality than the B&M one - but £4 means you can add on extra packs of instant boba tea mixes (also found at B&M, in hot chic aisle).
The football version of Guess Who would make a fantastic gift for both kids and adults. Alas, DP is the only one in house who would know what to say about each player, otherwise I'd snap this up for a Twixmas activity.

Hello everyone

Long term lurker (but not code stealer!) who loves these threads. Finally found something to share - free delivery at character.com for 24 hours with code FREE24.

Thanks for all the great bargains so far.

ruralwanderer · 23/10/2024 15:03

It's never happened to me before but I've spent a lot of time lately browsing on The Works website and this morning a 20% off coupon appeared in my inbox. I've used it to get 3 gifts for £15, two childrens' book boxsets and some more card and paper for just over £32 with free postage. Plus I went through Top Cashback so hopefully will get a little back from there too Grin

Well worth browsing, putting stuff in your basket and not checking out, if you have time and aren't desperate for anything in particular as there are definitely savings to be had.

HeartandSeoul · 23/10/2024 15:09

Sorry, no bargains to offer yet, but I just wanted to say that I am very impressed with the speed of the Cuisinart delivery (thanks to the person who added those bargains on here 🙂).

I ordered 4 wine bottle openers on Monday, and they have arrived this morning. Considering it was free postage, and I hadn’t had a notification of them being dispatched, I was very surprised.

fishfingersandchipsagain · 23/10/2024 15:10

Any good alternative to Redbubble for long sleeved T-shirts (so not Qwertee).

I have used Redbubble for years, but with the way the prices have gone up (and postage) even with current 25% discount it’s £50 for 2 T-shirts. I used to buy them as stocking fillers!

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 23/10/2024 15:13

@fishfingersandchipsagain I feel you with redbubble. Was going to buy myself a christmas tshirt off their but the postage was more than the saving 🙄

BreezyHedgehog · 23/10/2024 15:21

Argos have 3 for 2 on certain toy brands, some Barbie, Hot Wheels, Fisher Price. Don't think everything is included though.

mybrainisbusybeingawesome · 23/10/2024 15:31

I have a £10 off £60 spend at Argos. Code expires today so happy to pass it on if someone can make use of it

Onetwothreemisstwo123 · 23/10/2024 15:47

Just used this £15 (no minimum spend) at www.buyagift.co.uk

shash1982 · 23/10/2024 16:18

Thank you to the poster who mentioned the Peugeot salt & pepper grinders in tk maxx, stopped by during my break and picked those up.
DH has a habit of breaking ceramic ones so these are ideal for his stocking! 😂

Just to mention they had Elizabeth Arden gifts sets & Florence by mills (which my teens like).
Wish I had longer to browse!

wibdib · 23/10/2024 16:27

@fishfingersandchipsagain If you want plain long sleeved tshirts - try M&M Direct - I'm about to buy some for ds2 as he has lots of nice qwertee type ones with stuff on - so going to get some of their multi packs to wear as undershirts.

Brands include French Connection, Tokyo Laundry, Brave Soul, DKNY, Kangaroo Poo, Bench and many more. Prices work out about £6-15 per t-shirt - or about £8 for the reasonable quality stuff.

I've ended up getting an annual pass for £10 which gives. you free next day delivery which has been very handy when I haven't been able to go out but need something with a quick turnaround. They also have some Christmas tshirts and tops that might be worth a look in their Christmas section - I got some great pjs from there last year and they seem to have some nice socks there at the moment. Buying the pass is equivalent to getting 2 normal deliveries but also has meant that I don't have to worry about building up a big order to justify delivery and they are now doing buy now, return after xmas, which makes it even better.

VeruccaSalty · 23/10/2024 16:33

Any Look Fantastic deals or codes? I want to get myself something and I have two teenager nieces so be good to combine for postage but I have no idea about what teenage.girls are into! I have heard people mention the bum bum cream?

MammaRoly · 23/10/2024 16:34

@fishfingersandchipsagain sounds like you are looking for plain long sleeved t-shirts but if anyone is looking for printed designs www.teepublic.com often has a sale on
