Thread 6 - the one with Otis and the Christmas miracle

@Cupofteaandbiscuits and @NewtyCutey loved the happy reunited story with Otis.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

We got a set which had a deck of cards and a book with instructions for loads of different card games in it. My dd always chooses a new game for us to play on holiday

chocolateisavegetable · 22/10/2024 14:32

Next also have lots of Bath and Body Works candles on offer

Thanks to all the helpful people contributing - I've had some great bargains! (And treated myself more than I should have!)

I've come for advice about fragrance diffusers. Can anyone recommend a brand (preferably on the barginous side) that actually smells and lasts?

Just spent a fortune at Dunelm and can't smell a thing 😪

Biggie Best Reed diffusers are amazing. I’m holding out for their 10% off or whatever it was they did last year as I’m stocking up again.

chocolateisavegetable · 22/10/2024 14:41

Christmas delivery slots now open for all customers (I assume as I don’t have a delivery saver plan). I just managed to get the 23rd

Ilovepugs2017 · 22/10/2024 14:56

Been RL shopping today and Tesco has 25% off baby and kids clothing in store with a club card - assuming it’s all tescos! This also works on their sale clothes too

We recently played a board game called hues and cues which was great fun with a wide age range. The 5 year old didn't love it but everyone ages 8 and up did- there isn't too much advantage to being an adult and it worked well in a large family.

The board is filled with hundreds of squares of different shades of colour. One person has to give one word to allow the others to guess which square of colour they have on the card- maybe "mustard" and everyone puts their counter on the board in the colour they think matches. The person giving clued gets more points for each person who guesses correctly or gets close and the people guessing also win points if they are close. Anyway it was great- Argos had it for £20 the other week I think then I got distracted and it's back to up to £25.

Aldi had Yankee Candles when I was there on Sunday.

HyggeTyggeDotCom · 22/10/2024 15:14

My QVC hotel chocolat order arrived today and dates are 01/03/25 so I’m happy with that. Question is will they last that long?!
just wanted to add as well that I have put some links on the referrals page including 20% off at St Eval Candles and 10% at Elizabeth Scarlett. Hope they help someone :)

Sorry you were disappointed. I've ordered them in the past and they've all been great.

MammaRoly · 22/10/2024 15:39

Does anyone have any recommendations for books explaining card games (rules for games with actual playing cards IYSWIM?) I can only remember a couple of versions of solitaire and gin rummy and DS interested so I thought might be a good stocking filler? Thanks

Ceejadess · 22/10/2024 15:46

I'd be interested in that too

Re: diffusers. I can recommend Aroment. There is 20% off at the moment and the Orange, Nutmeg and Cinnamon one is very Christmassy. The 200 ml one lasts for months.

To the lady after the snake sceptre from Flying Tiger, there are lots in stock at Manchester Arndale today.
I did actually pick one up if you still want it, otherwise will give it to my DC :)

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 22/10/2024 16:45

I just love the Christmas thread. So kind of you @Champers00 I believe the poster was @FilthyforFirth

Such a wonderful vibe here. I am a student and have SB and Unidays, hit me up for codes, more than happy to pass it along :)

HopefulBeliever · 22/10/2024 17:25

Does anyone have suggestions for discount codes for Yorkshire Soap Company?
thanks!

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/10/2024 17:39

@Sunshine415 £5 off £30
or £10 off £60 any good?

FilthyforFirth · 22/10/2024 17:47

Remember last year Valentte had amazing discounts all stacking, 241s, etc? Are they still doing that? I'd like to get some candles and wax melts but they seem a bit pricier than last year but not sure if that's because I've unsubscribed from their emails so not getting offers any more.
