Thread 6 - the one with Otis and the Christmas miracle

Reastie · 18/10/2024 12:51

@Cupofteaandbiscuits and @NewtyCutey loved the happy reunited story with Otis.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Thank you @Ceejadess for the Toomies Barista info & @Whitewallwhiteceiling for the luscious lip balm offer - into my basket they go!

If buying the barista from Argos you can use top cash back and jam donut which will get you about 80 pence cash back. Not a lot but every little helps!

Ooh, I meant Reed diffusers, thanks for clarifying!

Will have a look in Aldi when I'm next in and see if I'm lucky!

Any tips on brands to look for in TK Maxx? I'm so fed up of being stung with crappy/non-existant fragrances!

I had an amazing one from Boots, it was a Sanctuary Spa one, grapefruit and bergamot I think... nothing is even close to living up to it 😭

Re reed diffusers - I found the Aldi ones terrible, oil just sat there for months on end and couldn’t smell anything. Their candles are good though. Rituals reed diffusers are nice

@Donsyb yes please to a Teapigs referral if that’s still ok?

I’ll PM you

These look nice. Glass jar filled with sweets and with a message on the jar. Buy one get one free, so £6 for two.

There are a load of other things in the offer too (found them after looking for the Treat Company baking bottles like the Vodafone offer).

They are lovely but not deducting one at the checkout for me

Dinosweetpea · 22/10/2024 07:42

A couple of Byoma items in the Boots £10 Tuesday. Not huge savings but might help as I know they are popular.

4thtimesthecharm · 22/10/2024 07:44

Just a heads up to anyone that is looking at the Cuisinart website, I thought I would take the advise to read separate reviews and the price shown on the search of the One Cup Grind And Brew Coffee Machine was less than the Cuisinart website.
Not everything is cheaper but I'm glad I found that out, accidently 😄

RunsWithDinosaurs · 22/10/2024 07:46

Haunted House by Jan Pienkowski pop-up book is 57% off for £7.70 on Amazon today. Lovely book from my childhood. Great for an older child or adult with a gothic streak.

And they’ve added £4.49 postage since yesterday 😱 Not a bargain today, unfortunately.

VeruccaSalty · 22/10/2024 07:51

I can see voucher for barista set but am apparently not eligible. Rude!

Gooseysgirl · 22/10/2024 08:03

I would like to send a gluten free christmas hamper around the beginning off december to a family member.Does anyone have any recommendations?

IlovePond · 22/10/2024 09:03

Lakeland had money off heated blankets in store yesterday and also money off some of their Xmas food bags.

HoHoJ0 · 22/10/2024 09:17

Bargain bedding (from sports direct though). I don’t have it so can’t comment on quality but for £2.49 (plus delivery) probably worth a punt!
Sports Direct - Santa’s Workshop bedding

Montanna15 · 22/10/2024 09:31

Colour in Christmas gingerbread house curently half price on Hobbycraft at £10 (tho may be one of those items not worth paying full price for?), but think would be fun for Xmas lead up or on Christmas Day.

If you use code HC515 it’s £5 off £15 so please tell me what your go to products/presents at Hobbycraft are that might interest a nearly 4 year old DD and 6.5 year old DS?? Too young and unappreciative for posca pens..:..

I bought the dinosaur jeep last year when it went on sale and it was DS favourite gift. He played with it nonstop for months! Have grabbed him the Christmas train and the shop this year with the discounts (will keep shop for his birthday in June). Son was 2 last Christmas.

munchbunch12 · 22/10/2024 10:36

I just saw a billboard advertising a Golden Caramel Toblerone. Has anyone tried one? Are they nice? Thanks.

@Bonjourlaclasse We had it for our 4 year old with a big pack of nice pens. Crayola i think. You hit £15 pretty quickly!

PurpleSkittler · 22/10/2024 10:59

Mini projector with 50% off on Amazon plus a further £20 off voucher, taking it to £55. Good for a difficult to buy for teen? The reviews seem generally very positive...
