@Cupofteaandbiscuits and @NewtyCutey loved the happy reunited story with Otis.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

@Filterphobia I bought that one off Oodie a few years ago and it is a lovely blue-green colour.

Filterphobia · 20/10/2024 13:29

I seem to recall in previous years there was a website that sold Oodies that were like the real thing but without the label. Can anyone remember the website if it still exists?
Thanks

Hello,
It was this website Here (5poundstuff) they are a bit dearer this year. Smile

Flubadubba · 20/10/2024 14:35

My bargain Benefit benefit mascara was delivered....without a mascara in the package. Not impressed.

Toys and Learning often have good prices on schleich, especially for sets

I concur! Having spent years and £££ buying Schleich dinosaurs and dinosaur sets - I recommend the volcano - this was my go to place. It has the best prices and great customer service.

@Justhereforthechristmasthreads @Wishingiwastracytutor

Re the sizing for the Gul dry robes. Basically, I spent ages looking for information about sizing and couldn’t find anything anywhere. I found a couple of reviews on Amazon that mentioned how big they are. I think it’s a bit like Oodies - sort of one size fits all, and on some people they’ll be long, and other people they’ll be short.

I couldn’t actually find the junior ones in anything other than the main junior size, although the website does seem to suggest you could get junior small and junior large. I would say the junior ones would be ideal for 8 to 11-year-olds. I got my young teen a small adult and my medium teen a medium adult, both of which I think will fit well now, and do them for a good few years to come.

The works currently have ten childrens books for £10. This is also their minimum spend online, so free delivery 😊 im going to do a big stock up for my DS and DN's.

Restlessinthenorth · 20/10/2024 15:49

Thank you to whoever shared the boots Bobbi brown star gift. I was just about to buy the mascara at full price, it's over £30, so that's a bargain!

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 20/10/2024 16:07

Just a warning if anyone is purchasing multiple items from brands that are 3 for 2 on boots to check your parcel as soon as you get it.

Ive picked an order up today and there was only 2 of my 3 items in the package. Everything I can see online says I would be informed if anything was sent in multiple packages (the tracking doesn't suggest it is in multiple packages and the outer of the parcel says 1 of 1). Have to wait and see what a human says tomorrow when their helpline opens as I wouldn't have ordered 3 if they weren't on 3 for 2 but am not strictly out of pocket either. Store staff really couldn't have cared less 😡

IlovePond · 20/10/2024 16:12

@Justhereforthechristmasthreads - please let us know how you get on. Whether it’s theft or error, they should still send you the missing item.

I am beginning to feel we should all video ourselves opening parcels so that we have proof if items are not there. Extreme, I know, but if retailers won’t accept liability it could come to that🙀

Beingacatbed · 20/10/2024 16:36

Sorry if it’s been asked before but does anyone know the best place to get an instax mini camera? Or if the cheaper versions are just as good? My dd10 has asked for one but i don’t know much about them.

Bumblebeesince19 · 20/10/2024 16:42

Good afternoon lovely MNers
With only 66 days to go and finding myself and my daughter doing a bit of in real shopping just thought I'd mention a couple of bits...
In TK max they had disney princess dolls for £8 / £10
And some of the hatchimals (you know like the big egg with the 5 little ones at the base?) For £18 I think it was which is definitely the cheapest I have seen it.
They had tonnes of gorgeous princessey dresses for £15 too which would make wonderful gifts for any fans of dressing up.

Also went into the works and whsmith. This is now pure selfish as I picked myself up some books in the 3 for 2 in whsmith which saved me £10 and meant I got a trilogy. And in the works they have some of tiktoks top trending books for £6 and under if you have a reader you wanted to buy for :) they also have some of the 'booktok' complete book sets for £15/£20 too. (I pointed 3 out to my husband with a gentle nudge nudge).

Hope that helps someone :)

Can someone repost the details of the woman that makes the cashmere fingerless gloves/wristwarmers on eBay please?

Rumblethedinosaur · 20/10/2024 16:50

I have an Argos £5 off £50 if anyone can make use of it? Valid until 23/10

LizMay29 · 20/10/2024 16:55

ruralwanderer · 20/10/2024 12:29

I've got two Argos codes if anyone wants them - £10 off a £60 spend and £5 off a £40 spend. Please PM so they don't get nabbed by lurkers Smile

Edited to add: they don't stack so one code per person available to the first two people to message.

Edited

Yes please to the £60 one if still available x

paintyhands · 20/10/2024 16:59

Thanks to the person who posted about Outsmarted. I bought it as an Autumn / Winter activity rather than a Christmas present and we’ve had a busy weekend playing - everyone loves it! I’ve also just ordered the Alien game mentioned more recently so thank you for that too - we love a board game! Hopefully I’ll find some more good bargains to share on here soon.

Justonedayatatime11 · 20/10/2024 09:28

@Justkeepsmilingx could I have the new look code please?

Of course. Have only just got on and will send now

Justonedayatatime11 · 20/10/2024 17:12

@Justkeepsmilingx thank you very much! x

sillygoof · 20/10/2024 17:15

About the jellycat-style plushes… the ones at One Beyond and Hobbycraft are the very same, just a bit cheaper at One Beyond!

They're called Softlings Foodies.

I may have bought every style they had, and I’m going to go back and see if they’ve got any new ones 😂

Londonmummy66 · 20/10/2024 17:16

@Streetcornerchoir cashmere gloves, snoods and headbands are here https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/seabeach2012

I bought 5 pairs of gloves and they are absolutely gorgeous and cheaper than turtle doves even in their sale.

@LizMay29 I'm sorry but they've both gone. Hopefully someone else will be along to help you out ☺

bigchanges1 · 20/10/2024 17:40

Instead of buying myself a beauty advent this year, I’ve decided to buy things I know I’d use.

I've already got the Clarins £20.90 set and the Kevin Murphy un.tangled freebie that came with the haircare purchase - these were posted on previous threads. Thank you so much to those posters.

I would like a nice bath oil and a book and that’ll be me feeling very lucky on Christmas Day.

Can anybody recommend a nice bath oil at all please?

yoshiblue · 20/10/2024 17:42

Take a look at the Cuisinart website
https://www.cuisinart.co.uk/sale.html

I've just picked up a mini food processor for £20 instead of £50/£60 on Amazon.

They had a few household things in their sale including a 4 in 1 automatic corkscrew, kettle, waffle/pancake maker etc.
