@Cupofteaandbiscuits and @NewtyCutey loved the happy reunited story with Otis.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Vouchers on amazon on Mcguigans wines, stack with subscribe and save discount came to £49 for me for 6 bottles of chardonnay and 6 bottles of shiraz. We've had them before and while it's not the poshest wine it's decent for the price and good for splitting up for household gifts or for Christmas parties. Just don't forget to cancel the subscription!

Thanks @yoshiblue
DD has gone on for ages about a waffle maker so have ordered this plus a new kettle we needed anyway. Both for less than what I was about to buy one kettle for!

Thanks to the person who posted about Outsmarted. I bought it as an Autumn / Winter activity rather than a Christmas present and we’ve had a busy weekend playing - everyone loves it! I’ve also just ordered the Alien game mentioned more recently so thank you for that too - we love a board game! Hopefully I’ll find some more good bargains to share on here soon.

How much did you get Outsmarted for, please? It’s on my list now and would appreciate a benchmark for a good price! Thank you

Can anyone recommend bargain bamboo socks....have previously bought from Bam, and they're lovely, but not a bargain!

@SharonMack17 I live in bamboo socks from Temptation Gifts they're lovely.

Look Fantastic are doing the Lancome La Vie Est Belle best of box for £50 instead of £102.59.
It is the 50ml perfume, some mascara and a couple of face things.
I know it isn't as good as the 50ml perfume last year, but the perfume was such a hit I've got people asking for more of it lol. Xx

I got the Mega Bundle for £27.99.

I think the code was CART20 for 20% off which brought the Outsmarted bundle down that price.

Take a look at the Cuisinart website
https://www.cuisinart.co.uk/sale.html

I've just picked up a mini food processor for £20 instead of £50/£60 on Amazon.

They had a few household things in their sale including a 4 in 1 automatic corkscrew, kettle, waffle/pancake maker etc.

I dont want to cast doubt but.... Are we sure this is actually the cuisinart website? It all looks too good to be true!!

Does anyone know of any sports direct codes at all please? Need to very unexpectedly replace a much loved pair of trainers and can only seem to find them on the Nike website direct or sports direct 🙃

About the jellycat-style plushes… the ones at One Beyond and Hobbycraft are the very same, just a bit cheaper at One Beyond!

They're called Softlings Foodies.

I may have bought every style they had, and I’m going to go back and see if they’ve got any new ones 😂

I don’t suppose you have a link to them on Hobbycraft do you @sillygoof ? I really can’t find them! Thanks.

DS3 has decided he wants loads of Lego base plates. Mainly the road ones. They seem pricey. Has anyone seen any on offer? Or know the best (cheapest!) place to get some? Really don’t want to have to pay £16 for each one considering he’s going to want/need a few 🙈 Thank you.

I got a few from eBay a few years ago that were good value

This is a bit random/niche, but if anyone is in/near Richmond, Yorks, they had some nice Christmas Eve boxes - new - and a box of 12 advent baubles, (in excellent used condition) in the Age Concern charity shop next to Savers in the market square this afternoon.

Lots of the charity shops in and around the square had loads of good condition board games.

The Yorkshire Cancer Society shop, also in Richmond, had some beautiful wooden vintage jigsaws and a genuine Pandora bracelet in ‘as new’ condition.

The Oxfam shop also had some new items, blankets, woven goods, etc. some of which would make nice presents. 🎁

Arewesureitisntbedtime · 20/10/2024 19:44

Does anyone know if Argos do vouchers on a £35 spend or is it only for amounts higher than this?

AndSoFinally · 20/10/2024 19:46

Thanks @HoHoJ0, looking forward to this. Must keep the activation code safe til Christmas though, or it'll be useless 😂

Usually £50 + sometimes worth spending £50 getting £10 off though and then you have only spent £5 more for an extra gift x

There is also this Christmas tree plush for the same price.
https://www.dunelm.com/product/nord-the-christmas-tree-plush-teddy-1000246287

I've just had a look at this thinking it would be cute to go on ds2's stocking - but no way - it has evil red eyes that makes it look like the Evil Edna 👹 equivalent of a Christmas tree - should be in the Halloween section, not Christmas!

Timetochangenow · 20/10/2024 20:02

@Arewesureitisntbedtime i just had one for £5 off £30, I think because I hadn’t used them for a long time

Thanks, that's helpful. If anyone happens to get a code for a smaller amount that they aren't planning to use, I would be grateful of it.
