@Cupofteaandbiscuits and @NewtyCutey loved the happy reunited story with Otis.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Quidco have a £10 bonus on a £50 spend on toy retailers like Disney/the entertainer etc.
Not much use to me as mine are adults, but might be of use to someone.
Also a reminder to check Quidco for all purchases. They often only give 1 or 2 per cent but it all adds up.

@Justkeepsmilingx I would love the code please if you still have it! x

recklessgran · 20/10/2024 10:24

@PaddingtonTwinkles @WeMeetInFairIthilien

You were asking about ingredients etc for the cookies I found in B&M yesterday. I dug them out and took a picture for you. The ingredients list does contain gelatine and it doesn't state whether pork/beef 😢 and the ingredients are pretty bleurgh overall but they were only 50p!
The best before dates are well into 2025.

Sorry here's the pic

Another one looking for the M&S gift sets

I was in an outlet store the other day & they had the small ones on offer but I'm holding out for the larger set. It was great value last year.

IsThisIt2021 · 20/10/2024 10:59

DS3 has decided he wants loads of Lego base plates. Mainly the road ones. They seem pricey. Has anyone seen any on offer? Or know the best (cheapest!) place to get some? Really don’t want to have to pay £16 for each one considering he’s going to want/need a few 🙈 Thank you.

Famousthehero · 20/10/2024 11:07

Ooh the Eugy models DD7 is obsessed with are on 3 for 2 at hobbycraft; gonna try and stack with the £5 off £15

Streetcornerchoir · 20/10/2024 11:22

There’s also £15 cashback on £150 spend at Lego on Quidco today for the first 800 opt ins. I have added my referral code to the other thread if anyone hasn’t joined already.

MerylSqueak · 20/10/2024 11:26

DS was quite happy with the ones from Home Bargains. I can't remember the price but we have loads so they must have been cheap.

Mountain Warehouse have free delivery on items sent directly from them ( not their marketplace) this weekend. There was also a 10% discount on Discounts for Teachers, if you're signed ip for that.

okayhescereal · 20/10/2024 11:26

Heads up for anyone waiting for the black Friday sales for Celtic and Co, apparently they're not partaking this year. So might as well use the 10-15% off codes on the referral thread!

Streetcornerchoir · 20/10/2024 11:28

Has anyone ever bought one of the Christmas trains from Disney and can tell me what the quality is like? I don’t really want to spend £135 😭 but DD desperately wants it!

OatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 20/10/2024 11:28

Thanks for the benefit code, DD will love it.

MeanMrMustardSeed · 19/10/2024 23:01

Thank you so much to the poster who mentioned Gul’s dry robes on sale. I bought one for each of our DC (the 5 year old will be swamped but warm!), and a bodyboard each - all reduced from about £30/40 to a little over £10 each. Absolute bargain. They all arrived today. £160 for 4 dry robes and 5 bodyboards (got one for DH too!). Really chuffed. Thank you

Just looking at these @MeanMrMustardSeed but can’t find anything about sizing for the dry robes - did you find any guidance?

SharonMack17 · 20/10/2024 11:58

Can anyone recommend bargain bamboo socks....have previously bought from Bam, and they're lovely, but not a bargain!

ruralwanderer · 20/10/2024 12:29

I've got two Argos codes if anyone wants them - £10 off a £60 spend and £5 off a £40 spend. Please PM so they don't get nabbed by lurkers Smile

Edited to add: they don't stack so one code per person available to the first two people to message.

ThreeB · 20/10/2024 12:37

@ruralwanderer have PM'd you 😀

PurpleSkittler · 20/10/2024 12:41

I think those sizings you linked to are for Gul Drysuits (which are a type of diving suit) not Dryrobes @Justhereforthechristmasthreads

Sea salt socks are bamboo and are on 3 for 2. If you sign up for emails, I think you also get a sign up discount code.
