Thread 6 - the one with Otis and the Christmas miracle

1000 replies

Reastie · 18/10/2024 12:51

@Cupofteaandbiscuits and @NewtyCutey loved the happy reunited story with Otis.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Thank you so much to the poster who mentioned Gul’s dry robes on sale. I bought one for each of our DC (the 5 year old will be swamped but warm!), and a bodyboard each - all reduced from about £30/40 to a little over £10 each. Absolute bargain. They all arrived today. £160 for 4 dry robes and 5 bodyboards (got one for DH too!). Really chuffed. Thank you

Hi can you tell me what the deal on this was please

Givealittlebit · 20/10/2024 07:23

What was the benefit mascara deal? And is it finished now?

whoknows1230 · 20/10/2024 07:40

Snapfish has started their 50% off photo calendars when you spend £35 and use code CAL1024.

The same code gives you 40% off if you spend less then £35

VolcanicProtectorMan · 20/10/2024 07:54

@Givealittlebit The code is still valid, so depends if they are in stock on Benefit still. The code works even if you’re not an EE customer.

EEMASCARA

Takes the ‘lashes for real’ kit (£27) down to £10 plus postage.

Fueledwithfairydustandgin · 20/10/2024 08:26

@ruralwanderer I’m wondering the exact same thing. My FIL is a bit of a gadget snob so I fear I may have to bite the bullet and shell out

Houseofsardines · 20/10/2024 08:51

@headshoulderskneestoesheart sorry the photo is code now gone

still have Lakeland codes and mountain warehouse- if anyone wants pm me?

Hi can you tell me what the deal on this was please

There was no deal / code, just their end of season sale. Gul robes (their version of dry robes) were £75 down to £27 for a junior robe, and £90 down to £27 for adult (which I got for my teens). Bodyboards down from £60 / £40 / £30 to £18 / £12 / £11 respectively. Basically paid supermarket prices for Gul products. Very very pleased. Boards and some roves still available, although I was able to get the gorgeous blue robes in junior size, which are now sold out.

Re Hamas beads - my DD did shove one in her ear once ... however only after the health visitor she was sitting next to said "are you worried she might put one in her ear" at which point the HV fished it out of her ear while I packed the rest up. Never an issue before or after!

My Solace jewellery has arrived - I had the option to chose Silver 1 2 or 3 so had different sets and had to use a different code but I'm still impressed.

YeahWellWhyNot · 20/10/2024 09:06

Thanks for the help with hama beads. I bought the small Halloween glow in the dark sets X3 (1 for each ds and 1 for me 😁) on the 3 for 2. Added a storage case and used the 5 of £15 code. Separate order placed for mario aquabeads, hama dragons and large glow in the dark set using 3for2 and bday voucher so came to £25 for the 3 large sets. I'm pretty happy 😊 worked out better value to split the orders else the small blister packs would have been free as opposed to the larger set.

YeahWellWhyNot · 20/10/2024 09:06

Should've added, all from Hobbycraft

Amazonmulu · 20/10/2024 09:11

Gul robes still seem to be £27 on Sports Direct. Not all colours / size etc. Also depends if you want to buy though Sports Direct as their customer service is non existent (IMO)

MsSheldonCooper · 20/10/2024 09:14

For any sports fans, you might find some bargains in the Fanatics UK sale. Some of the major US sports teams knit hats are down to £10 or thereabouts and my tween son loves them.

delivery is steep at almost £7 but you might be able to split with someone.

just sharing as I know it can be difficult to buy for older boys. Also lots of caps and t shirts etc.

GanderingGoose · 19/10/2024 21:20

Anyone know if they'll be any good deals on schleich this year and if so when that is likely to be? The entertainer and Smyths seem to be having less and less in stock so am I likely to get the best deal direct on schleich's website?

Toys and Learning often have good prices on schleich, especially for sets

Donsyb · 20/10/2024 09:21

£10 off a spend of £70 or more at Bramley, don’t think it’s a personal code. Valid today only.

I am sorry if this has already been covered - regarding the gul robes what size would be suitable for a boy who normally wears 12-13 year old clothes ? Many thanks

Bobbi brown star gift at Boots. I use the face cream and it’s normally more than this even with 10% off making the extras entirely free.

Thanks ! Have ordered this (using TopCashback too) may give it to my niece or keep it for myself!

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 20/10/2024 10:04

This was the only info i could find on sizing was on coast watersports. I will post the link but everytime I preview it, the link doesn't load on my phone for some reason even though if i paste the link into my browser it opens fine 🙄

Has adult and kids sizing on but be careful the kids has marine wear and dryrobe listed separately so check you look at the right one
