Thread 4 - the one with our Guylian best before fate

Reastie · 05/10/2024 19:23

It was a toughie to pick the thread title this time!
Thanks to @RainbowZebraWarrior for the title Xmas Grin For those interested, our fate is best before June of next year and the offer was regarding Guylian choices at B&M.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Wasn't the deal supposed to be these 6 items...plus a free gift?

I think so but I can't complain for the price and at least I had the full 6 items, unlike some other users on here who didn't get the full bundle

marshmallowmix · 09/10/2024 18:38

sorry what is the Whistlefish code please?? thanks😊

@JessiePinkwoman - I saw some nice ones in HoF today, (and 20% off as they are closing down).

I wouldn’t personally order from HoF online nowadays due to the problems many have had with delivery/refunds, etc. However, if you buy in store, their products are great.

Ooh thank you, I'll take a look 😊

IlovePond · 09/10/2024 18:42

Uniqlo have some of their graphic UT t shirts on sale - I got a FF one for £5.90 c&c and am putting away for Xmas.

BTW, I find that the UT men’s fit t shirts are ok for those of us with a bust if you go up a size. I bought a different one for me for the gym and I like it because it’s longer than most women’s t shirts and covers a multitude of sins.

Livinginacatdictatorship · 09/10/2024 18:43

Does anyone know where I could find a reasonably priced but good superhero costume for a 4 year old, no specific superhero but along the batman, spiderman type thing. Thanks!

Ilovepugs2017 · 09/10/2024 18:43

Regarding the grumm orders assuming the free gift is the wine voucher … or at least that’s what I had in mine anyway!

Vinted or eBay.

IlovePond · 09/10/2024 18:44

@JessiePinkwoman - I should have said, it was my local one near Dartford that’s closing down. I have no idea if they all are, (I hope not 🤞).

IlovePond · 09/10/2024 18:45

@Livinginacatdictatorship - I saw industrial quantities of these costumes in TKMaxx in the toy section - made me sad they weren’t available when mine were little!

I'm not impressed I have to say.

To suggest these items would retail for £60 odd is a joke.

They are samples. And a discount voucher free in most junk mail can't be the free gift. That's an utter piss take to be honest.

JoyAngerOut · 09/10/2024 18:49

@Livinginacatdictatorship it is worth asking on your local Facebook reuse page, especially if you have outgrown outfits to offer as well. Also don’t forget charity shops, I was in one this week that had a big rail out ready for Halloween.

ruralwanderer · 09/10/2024 18:53

@livinginacatdictatorship, check your local library for costumes. My local ones are swapping and selling costumes all month up to Halloween so there are some amazing deals to be had.

Livinginacatdictatorship · 09/10/2024 18:55

Thank you for all the superhero suggestions some great ones there 😀

Does anyone have any recommendations for a reasonably priced mens towelling bathrobe? Seen them in lots of places but worried that i get one online and it ends up being paper thin.
Thanks 😊

King of Cotton are excellent quality - my husbands has been going strong for at least five years. Beautifully presented and you can get them monogrammed too.

Rainraingoaway21 · 09/10/2024 19:28

@issantahereyet I have ordered from Bohomoon before, lovely items. Even better when they do their £10 days! One has just finished but I'm sure they do another before xmas.

Christmasdreaming · 09/10/2024 19:42

My solace mystery bundle arrived and it’s fantastic! Thanks so much for sharing that deal

I went for the kids bundle and got a pair of small gold hoops, silver bee studs and a blue gem stone set in silver studs

DD will be very pleased with them in her stocking

marshmallowmix · 09/10/2024 19:47

just did a Whistlefish order their stuff is lush!!

oriel2013 · 09/10/2024 19:51

Another thing to tick off please - can I have your recommendations for a good frying pan please, described by DH as 'a posh non-teflon one' ?!

Also delighted with my whistlefish order that came through today. OHS heated blanket came yesterday and is great.

BadgerFace · 09/10/2024 19:54

Elpheba · 09/10/2024 17:30

Thanks @BadgerFace i await your stabling activities with much anticipation!

As I thought the mares and stallion unicorns are too big but the foals fit depending on the make up of her herd…

(apologies to others for cluttering up the thread, I couldn’t add photos via PM!)

@mumonthehill I hovered over the 1kg bags of Lindor chocs last year, but decided in the end that a better option would be to buy 5 x individual small boxes (200g) from Tesco on their clubcard price of £4.25/box as then I could choose the flavour mix. It came out slightly more expensive (£21.25), but worth it for getting the flavours we love... Irish Cream flavour being the best!

I agree. I ordered once from Gruum a couple of years ago on some sort of "get this free for only £4 postage" I've never ordered from them again. They are definitely tiny offcuts / samples (which is fine, if they actually were clear that's what they are) The packaging at the time also made them ungiftable.

PurpleSkittler · 09/10/2024 19:57

BTW this is still me, @PurpleSkittle, but my phone has made me sign in again for some weird reason!

PurpleSkittler · 09/10/2024 19:59

Does anyone have money off coupon for Argos they won't use that they could PM to me? Ideally for a larger spend...

Has anyone bought from Bohomoon before? I have a few young teen girls to buy for and they seem to have some pretty nice stuff but I've never heard of them before

Yes they're fine. Wait until around buddy Friday and they do lots of stuff for £10.
