Thread 4 - the one with our Guylian best before fate

Reastie · 05/10/2024 19:23

It was a toughie to pick the thread title this time!
Thanks to @RainbowZebraWarrior for the title Xmas Grin For those interested, our fate is best before June of next year and the offer was regarding Guylian choices at B&M.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

@Delahot I use this Bluetooth Govee thermometer and humidity measure and really rate it. You can read the temperature on your phone without being in the greenhouse! On a great offer currently too for £10 on their site or similar on Amazon:

I’m pleased you got it all. What was in the full bundle. Though I’ll probably get FOMO if you tell me 😀

I had the two clay masks, the hair and body wash, the facial serum, the face wash and moisture bar but they are very small. They about the size of a blusher and a lipstick but very happy for the price.

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 09/10/2024 16:26

@issantahereyet haven't compared to Amazon price so not sure if a good offer or not but

Wilko

Have it for 57.00 (think you have to spend another £2 to get free delivery though)

Looking for a microfibre hair towel/turban. Any recommendations please? Up to £20.

I like the Danielle Creations ones. They sell them in New Look and Sainsbury’s, probably other places too. They’re around £9 and come in a box so quite good for gifting.

My Whistlefish orders also came today, hurrah Grin

Does anyone’s small person have the Melissa and Doug carry along stable (fits 8 horses in) and know if it fits in Schleich unicorns? That’s all DD would want to use it for so I only want to get it if it would work!

The full sized unicorns I would think no as the horses are not nearly as big. The foal sized unicorns I would think yes. My DDs have the stable and allllllllll the Schleich unicorns (and horses and big cats and more animals than Noah…) so I will try a fitting session for you when I get home from work…!

Babynumberthreeee · 09/10/2024 16:44

My friend has missed the melissa and doug ice cream deal again yesterday despite me messaging her! If anyone sees it on offer again please let me know as I'll buy it and pass it on

Ah thank you, didn't even think to check Wilko!

Has anyone bought from Bohomoon before? I have a few young teen girls to buy for and they seem to have some pretty nice stuff but I've never heard of them before

Try Only Curls - they have both towels and turbans - I have both and they are great.

@Ilovepugs2017 I am very late to the party but if you have a spare code for Lucy and Yak I would be very grateful. My DD is a big fan but the prices always make me 😰

Hiya I’ve pm’d you! I’ve always been after some of their dungarees too but never wanted to pay £59 for them so having them heavily discounted made me take the plunge!

Is anyone else hovering over the 1kg Lindor bag in the prime sale???? I just cannot work out how good a deal it is, oh and if I am honest not sure they would last until Christmas.....

Wonderfulstuff · 09/10/2024 17:27

Re: slippers, I like 100% sheepskin as they are breathable and have tried a few different brands over the years including ugg. Last year I was given a pair from Moshulu and I have to say they are excellent and have coped with being worn all year round really well. They normally have 20% off around black friday.

Elpheba · 09/10/2024 17:30

Thanks @BadgerFace i await your stabling activities with much anticipation!

I got them last year at the same price on BF. I've never seen them any cheaper. I also gave them straight to my Mum for safe keeping so I didn't eat them (they were a Christmas gift for my cousin)

There's a free bundle on offer for Railcard holders too.

Strange business model to continually offer free stuff unless the products are so good it brings them lots of repeat (paying) customers.

My DP (male) got the free gift and signed up after! He has items that arrive regularly on a subscription basis. I do like the shampoos, hated the conditioner, quite like the body wash bar but not a patch on my molton brown shower gel 😂

JessiePinkwoman · 09/10/2024 18:09

Does anyone have any recommendations for a reasonably priced mens towelling bathrobe? Seen them in lots of places but worried that i get one online and it ends up being paper thin.
Thanks 😊

The Remington shine straightners have dropped to £23.65 on a prime day deal.

IlovePond · 09/10/2024 18:22

Hi, I went into Flying Tiger today to look at their advent craft calendar: £12. IRL, I thought it looked a bit underwhelming from an adult’s perspective, but would be nice for a small child. Instead I bought a paint your own wooden elf and door for £2 and a pack of paint your own wooden decorations for £2.50.

Again, very suitable for children, but also entertaining enough for me, (and cheap!)

@JessiePinkwoman - I saw some nice ones in HoF today, (and 20% off as they are closing down).

I wouldn’t personally order from HoF online nowadays due to the problems many have had with delivery/refunds, etc. However, if you buy in store, their products are great.

Wasn't the deal supposed to be these 6 items...plus a free gift?
