Thread 4 - the one with our Guylian best before fate

It was a toughie to pick the thread title this time!
Thanks to @RainbowZebraWarrior for the title Xmas Grin For those interested, our fate is best before June of next year and the offer was regarding Guylian choices at B&M.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Confusedmeanderings · 06/10/2024 00:57

That's my niece sorted thanks to whoever posted about Silver Rain Silver.

sangriaandsunshine · 06/10/2024 01:14

@Cupofteaandbiscuits as far as my football mad DC are concerned, yes, you do need the new FC game every single year. I don't play but, just from hearing them chat about it and hearing them play, there are new, different modes on FC25. I am going to caveat all I have said but saying we have a PlayStation. I presume the Switch game has the same new modes and things.

mumonthehill · 06/10/2024 05:27

Just checking in!

Elephantino · 06/10/2024 05:39

Thanks @Ilovepugs2017 just bought for my niece, I also had £5 member discount off so it only cost me £16.59. Thanks for spotting it

recklessgran · 06/10/2024 05:40

Please does anyone have a White Company code. They're not taking any more catalogue sign ups at the moment which is how you can normally get 15% off. I would be eternally grateful if anybody can help with this as I have an eyewatering amount in my basket. Thank you so much...

CarrieMoonbeams · 06/10/2024 07:05

Molton Brown has an offer on - spend £50 or more and get a single-wick candle half price (so £21 instead of £42). Use the code CANDLE24.

IggyAce · 06/10/2024 07:18

Off RL shopping with teen son to get him the last few bits of clothing for our New York holiday, wish me luck.

It does if you click the last part of it 😊

@Waffles21 I bought a lavazza milk frother 8 years ago- still love it. Also brilliant thing about is you can buy replacement parts cheaply from lavazza - had to replace the whisk as someone snapped it enthusiastically washing it up and was easy and cheap to order that bit. Would also recommend the stove top lavazza milk frother which does larger quantities of milk

ArthurChristmas22 · 06/10/2024 07:52

I will second the Lavassa frother, also going strong after a long time and used daily as we prefer it to the coffee machine frother.

Many thanks for all the suggestions for boys. I didn't say they were all Welsh so I am off to raid the WRU shop but the other suggestions I am raiding for my own kids!

My OHS heated blanket arrived today - super quick delivery, thanks for the tip!

Just been looking for the tip re heated blanket. Please can you advise?

Comeoutside · 06/10/2024 08:17

@TheresNoTelescreen is it the Toot Toot Animal Safari? Doesn't specifically mention an iceberg but looks like it has potential... It's not stocked though

christmasfish · 06/10/2024 08:18

@Azuresky68 The original deal at Boots expired but this one seems good and it arrived quickly. There's an extra 5% off if you have a Blue Light Card.

Thought id lost you lot for a minute and panicked!
I don’t suppose anyone already has FC25 for the Nintendo switch? It’s top of DS’s Christmas list but he already has FC25. How different are they really?! Or is that my football/gaming ignorance showing?!

DS has an Xbox and got FC25 for his birthday last week. We've been upgrading every year for the last 4/5 years. There are new game modes in FC25 but also every year they update the players/teams so if he's into football it will feel necessary to him. If he plays online he'll need the same version as his friends too.

I only pretend to understand the obsession myself, but my DS even went through a phase of looking for older version in charity shops!!

Montanna15 · 06/10/2024 08:52

@recklessgran here you go TM4M336H8 will get you 15 percent off.

Beautifulsunflowers · 06/10/2024 08:54

Thank you @IggyAce for the mountain warehouse heads up - my friends son is going skiing so I’ve passed the info on to her!

Now it is my turn to ask for help …. Every year I get my ds a dark chocolate toblerone which you used to be able to buy in the supermarkets. For the last couple of years I have really struggled, lots of people tell me that WHSmiths sell them but last year I think I tried 3 different branches with no luck. One really kind mumsnetter sent me one in the end which seriously saved Christmas! So if anyone knows where to get one, please let me know! DS is 22 and this has been the tradition since he was 8!
