Thread 4 - the one with our Guylian best before fate

Reastie · 05/10/2024 19:23

It was a toughie to pick the thread title this time!
Thanks to @RainbowZebraWarrior for the title Xmas Grin For those interested, our fate is best before June of next year and the offer was regarding Guylian choices at B&M.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Thanks Reastie. First time in 13 years I've made a thread title thanks to my careless typing.

Hoping to find some more of the Guylian bargain chocs. Will be looking out when I'm out and about this week.

Hobbycraft still have the £5 off a £15 spend till 22nd October. Sign up for the app, or order online. Stacks with most other discounts.

Checking in x

BadgerFace · 05/10/2024 19:48

I was in Sainsbury’s yesterday and nearly fainted when I saw one box of guylian for £5!

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 05/10/2024 19:52

They’ve gone back up in our B&M to £5 😔

MerylSqueak · 05/10/2024 19:53

Thank you for the new thread @Reastie

Silver Rain Silver have 25% off when you buy 5 sale items. No code needed. Really nice for teen stocking fillers.

Does anyone know of any way to get money off Eurostar gift vouchers? It's my best friend's 60th birthday just before Christmas and I want to treat her but I obviously can't book for her so can't take advantage of the £35 offers. I'm pretty sure she'd choose to go to Paris.

Slightlydustcovered · 05/10/2024 20:03

Can I join please, looking to reduce my spend this Christmas! Kids are bigger now so they are after bigger and better gifts, a Nintendo switch being top of the list this year.

Cupofteaandbiscuits · 05/10/2024 20:23

Thought id lost you lot for a minute and panicked!
I don’t suppose anyone already has FC25 for the Nintendo switch? It’s top of DS’s Christmas list but he already has FC25. How different are they really?! Or is that my football/gaming ignorance showing?!

Sideorderofchips · 05/10/2024 20:31

Checking in for a new thread. You lot are moving fast!

TheGriffle · 05/10/2024 20:33

Does anyone know the cheapest place to get Pokémon Snap for the Switch please? We dont have one so not sure where’s the best place to purchase from.

Waffles21 · 05/10/2024 20:40

Thanks for the tips
on the velvetiser, now thinking we may just do a milk frother. I’m sure I read about some last year, anyone have any recommendations please? Thank you!

Unrulyrabbit · 05/10/2024 20:54

I'm looking for ravensburger 3d puzzles in a good deal, if anyone spots one. Recipient has the big ben one, sounds like any others might appeal.

Someaddedsugar · 05/10/2024 20:56

Does anyone know where the best price for the minalima Harry Potter books would be? I only want the first one for DS?

christmasfish · 05/10/2024 21:03

My OHS heated blanket arrived today - super quick delivery, thanks for the tip!

Elpheba · 05/10/2024 21:29

@Waffles21 we have a severin milk frother- went for it over a velvetiser as has bigger capacity so can do hot choc for the family. But I use it almost daily for a mocha. Skim milk and a dollop of Nutella- it is heavenly. Ours was pricey to begin with but it’s 5 years old in December and still going strong!

Someone recently posted that Amazon had them at a good price. You could try your luck checking the Used Like New offers on the page too.

I got one well priced at Costco last year if you're a member, or know someone who is? Can't recall the price now though I'm afraid

I figured around £20 was a good deal for them. I paid £19.16 on Amazon warehouse and can't see any damage.

BoilingHotand50something · 05/10/2024 21:53

@Waffles21 We got the Dualit milk frother a few years ago but I can’t see the one we got now. It was a lot cheaper than the velvetiser at the time. There seems to be loads of options on Amazon. Maybe take a look on Prime Day.

IggyAce · 05/10/2024 21:55

I got a milk frothier from Aldi last year, not sure if it was £10 or £20.

Lots and lots of new ones on Vinted at reasonable prices if that's an option @Unrulyrabbit

evtheria · 05/10/2024 22:09

Odeon gift card £21.25 (worth £25) on Amazon with Prime

I've only noticed the Odeon one but I've a feeling they'll have other brands discounted too, as has happened in the past.

Lidl often have them in, we have a good few of them in our house and a few came from there.

Wireless Earbuds, Bluetooth 5.3 Headphones with 4 ENC Noise Canceling Mic, 50H Stereo Dual LED Display Ear Buds, Sport Wireless Earphones with Earhooks, IP7 Waterproof Wireless Headphones for Running amzn.eu/d/ee037Pz

DS bought these for himself and says they're good, so he's got his brother a pair for Christmas. 80% off apparently!

TheresNoTelescreen · 05/10/2024 22:22

A plea for help - DS has asked for the toot toot set that makes the animals talk about an iceberg. Does anyone know which set this would be please? Have asked Vtech support but they haven't replied weeks later.

That's what I got too, it had basically been ordered and returned, no faults at all
