Thread 4 - the one with our Guylian best before fate

Reastie · 05/10/2024 19:23

It was a toughie to pick the thread title this time!
Thanks to @RainbowZebraWarrior for the title Xmas Grin For those interested, our fate is best before June of next year and the offer was regarding Guylian choices at B&M.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Does anyone know when Sainsburys toy sale starts pls?

According to Coupon Queen, it will likely be 9th October (so tomorrow) This sounds about right to me as I used to work for them and remember the Toy Stunt being around 10th October.

Unfortunately not, but thank you for the suggestion.

I have student beans and happy to give you an M&S code if you like?

My 10 year old has asked for a gold name necklace. I can't think where would be the best place for as cheap as possible??

Sorry if you’ve already had replies, haven’t read full thread. But I’m sure Abbott Lyon do them and they regularly have offers. If I remember rightly they had 25% off one item at the moment.

That’s a generous offer. Someone else, who I definitely won’t name, has very kindly sent me one.

Has anyone seen any good deals on hampers?

Sorry I'm here with a request......has anyone bought one of the digital photos frames that family can send photos to and would you recommend? I'm thinking it could be a good gift for my parents as they love pictures of the grandkids and my brother lives far away so if I could get him to share pictures of his son too my Mum would love it!

Hi, I got these for parents and PILs last year and they’re pricey but they are really nice.
BUT it needs everyone in the family to send photos, and the parents to actually plug it in and switch it on!! So, bit of a novelty factor unless you’re all committed to using it!

love these threads everyone’s so lovely and it makes me feel all warm inside ❤️

thisgirlloveschristmas2024 · 08/10/2024 20:42

Has anyone seen any good deals on Neom christmas essential oils?

@Willow4987 Laithwaites have some lovely hampers and new customers can get £40 off a £80 spend via a referral link.

I think they would plug it in and connect it fine......but you're right it would be whether or not we updated the pictures regularly!

I think I would manage as I'm quite good about sharing pictures via WhatsApp with the wider family group, but my parents see my kids all the time, and my brother is rubbish and lives far away so would probably be me constantly messaging my brother to send more pics which may be tedious! 🤣

imnottoofussed · 08/10/2024 20:53

@thisgirlloveschristmas2024 they had some in tkmaxx if you search for essential oils it won't find them if you search Neom

IlovePond · 08/10/2024 20:57

@thisgirlloveschristmas2024 I think I saw some reduced on Amazon Prime today.

BeaLola · 08/10/2024 20:58

I'm looking for a bird feeder for smaller birds for my lovely DF but I'm after a robust one if such one exists that's it's on a spike that I can put at the edge of his grass near his patio doors so he can see the comings and goings of the birds - I don't want any to hang from trees as he has these but can't see them from his chair as they are too far down his large garden ( he has very limited vision) , TIA

Anyone had their Gruum order? I ordered on the 27th September and had an email saying on the 4th October but still not here

I received mine today. There were only 3 bits in there - body/hair wash and 2 clay mask bars…

bankruptedbykids · 08/10/2024 21:16

A search for advent calendars on Amazon, and then filtering by Prime Big Deals, brings up some good discounts. I spotted beauty ones (Nivea 40% off etc) and some nice book ones including Thomas, Minecraft. Also this Deal for Prime members: Disney: Twisted Tales Advent Calendar amzn.eu/d/9lFEZE8 Disney Twisted Tales one looks good for tweens.
I've just managed to get a jigsaw one for my mum - her birthday is 1st December and finding a new exciting Advent calendar for her birthday present each year has turned into a bit of a tradition!

Someone upthread (I think!) talked about bird feeders you can get with a camera, so your DF could watch from inside - would that be an idea?

IlovePond · 08/10/2024 21:20

Hi,

If you are signed up to the MSE emails, you can follow a link for early access to LF’s Beauty Vault. MSE reckons it’s worth about £639, (LF say over £700, which is pretty close).

It costs £150 for 14 items, and a lot of them seem to really be full size, (rather than travel sizes pretending to be bigger!)

I am tempted, but I have spent far too much money already.

Has anyone seen any good deals on Neom christmas essential oils?

These usually start to appear in TKMaxx really reasonably priced around Christmas.

WimbyAce · 08/10/2024 21:23

Not festive but amazon have 3 medium pritt sticks for £1.49. Useful if your kids have to take their own to school.

Re: LF Beauty Vault

If you follow the MSE link and log on, then fill your basket, then log out, if you then go via the App to your stored basket, LF add a mini Medic8 product.

I can’t find any discount codes that work, though 😿

Ilovepugs2017 · 08/10/2024 21:50

Argos have got a red sale on so certain products are 30% off 20% off & 10%off. Just treated myself to a new kettle and toaster for £25 instead of 36 with the 30% off. Some Lego is included too

juicyjellybaby · 08/10/2024 21:54

Just seen on Facebook that the Sainsbury’s toy sale has been confirmed to start on Wednesday 23rd October
