Thread 4 - the one with our Guylian best before fate

Reastie · 05/10/2024 19:23

It was a toughie to pick the thread title this time!
Thanks to @RainbowZebraWarrior for the title Xmas Grin For those interested, our fate is best before June of next year and the offer was regarding Guylian choices at B&M.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Some deals on Yoto & Tonie bundles on Amazon but no idea if they are fantastic offers or worth waiting for Black Friday??

I must have missed the ice cream set by minutes, really annoying!

Worth a browse on Amazon as loads of things I’ve looked at recently are 15-20% off, suspect some discounts are personalised

The ice cream set is still half price??

£24.84

Has anyone seen any good deals on fragrance miniatures? Teen son totally sucked in by perfume influencers and would like to put a few different ones in his advent calendar.

Try the Notino site, type in sample to the search bar and they have some collections of 5 samples

Timetochangenow · 08/10/2024 07:49

For Amazon Prime it’s not changing the price on your basket items always so worth clicking on each item to see if a better price is available. Be careful on prices though, the barbie plane is £33.24 supposedly 58% off but £34.99 in Smyth’s

Gooseysgirl · 08/10/2024 07:50

£7.63 on Amazon prime Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza game

This mini monster jam Scorpion is down to just over £10 in prime day, which is a decent reduction

Well that was a disappointment @Famousthehero - I thought that was going to be one of those really spicy chilli chutney/jam type of thing and thought I'd buy that for DH 😂. Sadly, at 63 I feel he may not be the target audience for the real product 😂

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 08/10/2024 07:58

Has anyone shopped from Anthropologie before and if so - do you end up with extra tax/duty? Was on the verge of getting something and noticed this -

Your order total includes all taxes and duties when shipping within the EU. Deliveries outside of the EU may incur additional customs charges on receipt of item(s).

Confused

Ninja Staysharp Knives are £105 on Amazon

Penguinbeaver · 08/10/2024 08:08

Has any one seen or have a bubble tube lamp that's of decent quality? Struggling for gamer son and thought this might be a good addition to his room?

Just got a Water Marbling Paint kit on Amazon for £12:50. Looks a decent enough activity

CandyRaining · 08/10/2024 08:09

Look fantastic has 25% off some items. If you order on the app you get a free sol de janeiro hand cream if you spend over a certain amount (I put an order in but forgot to go through the app 🤦🏼‍♀️). They’ve also got some good value Estée Lauder gift sets. I was going to buy a face cream anyway and it worked out better to get a set (I actually got two different sets because they were such good value). And then if you spend a certain amount on Estée Lauder you get two free items, think it was a moisturiser and mascara. There’s also a code I found by looking online MOLLYMAELF that gave me a few £ off on top. I paid £180 for over £500 worth of stuff. Treating myself instead of doing a beauty advent calendar like I usually do.

Exactly what I'm wondering too! I want a tonies for the youngest and yoto for eldest- can anyone remember what they paid Black Friday last year? Tempted to just get them now

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 08/10/2024 08:14

Crikey Candy that's quite a haul! I remember a few years back I got the Lumene advent from there and because it was money off, then an extra generic code on top but I wanted to make it up to a free gift threshold too I got lots of other bits so in total, sooooo much stuff for what I would have just paid for the calendar. And because some items had brand gifts too I also got those! I was a very happy bunny the day that delivery came Grin

Unfortunately codes and gifts don't stack as much anymore Sad

Can anyone recommend a toastie/waffle/panini maker please? Doesn’t need to be deep fill as she only ever have one filling. Thanks

I recommended this earlier in the thread. It's on a prime deal with the sandwich, waffle and panini plates included.

Miller and Harries have 50% off their fragrance discovery set, so now £15. A nice gift.

Does anyone have a spare Argos/ Tu code please?

I want to buy some pyjamas and tall 11yo DD no longer fits into most of the kids’ pyjamas so I’m having to pay adult prices for her, which bumps the price up! I’ll be spending £50/60+.

I’ve got £6 off £60 if you want it.

For those who bought the Sylvanians Husky family I posted last time they’ve now got the brother and sister on a bike reduced to £9.99 from £24.99 . It’s limited and currently on 60% so be quick! here

There are some other Sylvanian Families bits on offer but not as reduced.

It is still showing as full price for me, weird!

daisyboo1 · 08/10/2024 08:38

I have a £7 off £75 Argos voucher if anyone would like it? I'll PM it if so.

Talisin · 08/10/2024 08:42

If you aren’t a Prime member (and you need to be signed in) then you won’t see the cheaper prices so that may be why they aren’t showing for some.

Me again with more questions! My dd is 8 and absolutely set on a tonie. But would the yoto be better?
She's seen some of the new pocket books for the tonie and has a list she'd like of those but I'm just wondering about the longevity of it for the price

I basically paid the same price for the things I was going to buy anyway (usual makeup and moisturiser) and then had all those extras 😍 You’re right though, deals aren’t as good as they used to be with stacking codes etc.
