Thread 4 - the one with our Guylian best before fate

Reastie · 05/10/2024 19:23

It was a toughie to pick the thread title this time!
Thanks to @RainbowZebraWarrior for the title Xmas Grin For those interested, our fate is best before June of next year and the offer was regarding Guylian choices at B&M.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Does anyone know where the best price for the minalima Harry Potter books would be? I only want the first one for DS?

I found one for just under £20 on eBay. The plastic packaging was ripped but the book was fine. Worth keeping an eye on there because Amazon can get pricey x

LouH1981 · 08/10/2024 02:06

There is 15% off at M&S for home and clothing with Sparks card at the moment. Not sure how long for xx

sorryiasked · 08/10/2024 06:21

Actually lots of the Melissa and doug stuff is supposedly half price on amazon eg sandwich set, pizza set, as well as the ice cream one

Thanks for this. Out of interest have you been watching the price? Seems like a good deal so may pic one up for DD although it doesn't look like they have doubles so may have to go oversized with a king!

It’s on my daughter’s list so I was very happy about this one! 😊

Has anyone seen any good deals on fragrance miniatures? Teen son totally sucked in by perfume influencers and would like to put a few different ones in his advent calendar.

Onemoret1me · 08/10/2024 06:39

Can anyone recommend a toastie/waffle/panini maker please? Doesn’t need to be deep fill as she only ever have one filling. Thanks

I haven’t been tracking it, I’m afraid, but I’ve been keeping an eye out for a deal on a branded, quality under blanket (as that’s what she wanted) and this stood out as a good price. Others may have found better though! 😊

Famousthehero · 08/10/2024 06:54

This mini monster jam Scorpion is down to just over £10 in prime day, which is a decent reduction

ShinyPrettyThings87 · 08/10/2024 07:03

@Crafty09 Notino have some sample packs that might be of interest? I bought a few different packs to put in crackers. Notino £6 Discovery set there's others on there too.

Moreteaandchocolate · 08/10/2024 07:06

Melissa & Doug Ice Cream Counter currently £24.84 on Amazon.

Ice Cream Counter

Brilliant! Been waiting for this to come back down as I didn't jump on it the last time. I actually had it in my basket in anticipation of Prime day but the price hadn't changed. When I clicked on your link it was 50% off though.

unsuresue2 · 08/10/2024 07:25

@Slightlydustcovered I’m selling one, have it on FB marketplace but getting bombarded with scams

My daughters got to remove bones from owl pellets at a class over the summer. We bleached the bones in a solution of hydrogen peroxide and water and then places them in tiny plastic cases like these. Would he enjoy excavating them himself before sketching them maybe?

We’ve done that so many times. It’s fascinating.
barn owl conservation used to sell them on ebay

LemonTurdCart · 08/10/2024 07:31

I must have missed the ice cream set by minutes, really annoying!

Worth a browse on Amazon as loads of things I’ve looked at recently are 15-20% off, suspect some discounts are personalised

djfjfj · 08/10/2024 07:36

Does anyone have a spare Argos/ Tu code please?

I want to buy some pyjamas and tall 11yo DD no longer fits into most of the kids’ pyjamas so I’m having to pay adult prices for her, which bumps the price up! I’ll be spending £50/60+.

Turtleoo · 08/10/2024 07:37

I'm a bit disappointed in prime deals. I knew they weren't likely to be spectacular, but I've got a loooong list of present ideas and barely anything has any money off, and if it does it's only a couple of £.

If anyone sees the Lego minions banana car reduced please let me know. Been looking out for this for months and it's never included in any deals. It's £20 but would love to get it for £15!
