Thread 3 - The one with the Grim Giftsets

Thanks to @SpottyBumPony for giving us such a grim code Xmas Grin

I've spent the afternoon going through the Christmas list and feeling very overwhelmed about how much to get and how much it'll all cost. I need to get control and organised.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Not sure if it's been posted, but it won't harm to mention. Someone said that B&M had four packs of Guylian last year for £1. I found them in store today for 79p. It actually makes them better value than any of the bigger boxes. Best Before Fate was 06/25

Grabbed some for stocking fillers and teacher gifts.

Spotty Otter - maybe not a Christmas present but a useful kids winter thing. Amazing coats and waterproofs. I signed up for 10% off then left something in my basket and a few days later they emailed me a 15% off code.

User236792 · 03/10/2024 19:55

Not sure if it’s been mentioned yet, as I haven’t caught up yet. Based on recommendations on this thread I ordered several of these Spicery legend kits last year - they make awesome presents, all nicely packed in a tin. Currently they are a bargainous 30% off too, and it stacks with the referral code to give another 10%.

I’ve put my referral code on the referral code thread if anyone needs it.

@WideFootWelly thankyou to you and your DD for making me all nostalgic for Christmases gone by. My DD is now 18 and I've just been fondly remembering the excitement of a small child and their must have Christmas toy 😊

Thank you. Christmas really is lovely atm.

WorriedMillie · 03/10/2024 20:00

Re thermal printers (sorry) those who have experience of them, do they connect to Bluetooth ok? I have read a couple of reviews that say they don’t and I’m a bit wary (after an experience with a cricut machine!) 👀
thank you

Has anyone got one of those reading cushions with the high back and arms? I seen one in dunelm yesterday and thought of maybe getting one for my sister for reading in bed but wonder if there actually any good?

bigchanges1 · 03/10/2024 20:02

Does anybody know of any ASOS codes for sale items at all please?

Heartattack41 · 03/10/2024 20:04

Anyone seen or recommend a magic set for 6 year old?

Thanks 👍

yesornothatisthequestion · 03/10/2024 20:08

@Heartattack41 we bought the Melissa and Doug deluxe magic set for 6yo DS in Vinted. Lovely quality and the tricks are pretty sturdy and easy to do.

Thelifeofawife · 03/10/2024 20:09

@MarshmallowsOnToast There are some Elemis deals on QVC at the moment. Also worth looking on eBay/Vinted as people are selling off unwanted products

Has Anyone tried the Mallow and Marsh chocolate covered marshmallows? They look like interesting flavours and sold in my local supermarket but don’t want to waste my money if they aren’t nice.

Not something I'd buy again personally,

Clucket87 · 03/10/2024 20:32

Somebody was looking for bath bombs.
Just seen this set online. With the 50% off code, it's about £8 for the 10 bath bombs. Xx

I tried them but didn't rate them - but can't remember why. I think the chocolate may have been very thin and not very nice!

Thank you very much to those who mentioned the animal tracking bracelets with Fahlo - a brilliant gift idea for a few people on my list.

There is 20% off with the code TRACK20.

I’ve never heard of these but I have two girls and a a MIL who will love them!

I was very disappointed. It just wasn't the amazing combo I thought it would be.
