Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

In my Sainsburys Local yesterday they has lots of back to school stuff further reduced, including things like water bottles (can't remember brand, maybe sistema), Crayola pens etc that would work as gifts. Not worth a special trip as not guaranteed but worth a look of you are in one.

Lots of Squishmallows on sale at John Lewis
really pleased to see their price promise back too. I think I’d cry if JL went under!

Was really pleased with the customer service from the ebay lady so thank you so much for the recommendation - immediate refund of excess postage and sent out within 2 hours and excellent communication - half the price of turtle doves too. She also has some really nice two colour gloves.

She's amazing. Her cowls are also beautiful. £22 I think for her standard size. I've bought them for my Mum, best friend and daughter and they've all been a hit. It's the colour variations, as you say which are really different.

Sitting on my hands here. Did Whistlefish order last week and loved it but now got a basket full to get free wrapping paper I don't need as already got my Christmas wrapping paper 🙈

Same here!! Just put in a second card order for the free wrapping paper I don't need but thought what the hell it never goes off and the quality is really good. I spent way too long deliberating over/talking about which paper to choose though and DH couldn't stop rolling his eyes.

Ewock · 29/09/2024 09:34

Can I ask what the whistlefish offers are on cards and wrapping? I had thought we didn't need cards but turns out I don't have as many left as I thought 🤦‍♀️

Chrysanthemum5 · 29/09/2024 09:45

So many offers @Ewock if you spend £25 you can pick 5 free sheets of wrapping paper. There are 15 Christmas cards for £10 or 10 normal cards for £10. If you sign up to the newsletter you get 20% off

The quality is amazing I love them

Im just looking at the site again. I got a load of cards but realised I have missed a few birthday (very big family) so may have to look again. Nothing to do with free wrapping paper honest 😆

Not the most Bargain filled shop Myriad toys but last year I bought these bird whistles as stocking fillers and the kids loved them (they are noisy and annoying) but I made a big thing of how "urgh Thanks Santa 🙄 elves are annoying for adding things like this to stockings" so the kids loved that they were getting something we'd never buy them 😂
These all went down well as stocking fillers even if most things they sell are quite expensive.

Haha I know that's what I was thinking, can go in my cupboard for the next year etc.

Would someone be able to link to the endoscopic camera (think that's what it was called) that everyone was buying last year from amazon? I thought they looked great but couldn't think of anyone to gift it to last year and now have the perfect recipient in mind.

LoveHearts69 · 29/09/2024 10:27

Also I’m quite new to MN and these threads…but I’m intrigued how much Robert the unicorn was? Everyone seems to have him so he must have been a bargain 🤣

Whistlefish order gone in! Very excited. I'd ordered some campervan ribbon from hobbycraft with the offer mentioned here last week (£5 off £15 spend) and got some gorgeous looking campervan wrap in the Whistlefish offer to match.

Anyone else having a giggle at the thought that Whistlefish must be wondering what on earth is happening with their sudden enormous uptick in orders?
I’m currently trying to justify to myself that I really need more birthday and Christmas cards so I can get the wrapping paper 😆

ShinyPrettyThings87 · 29/09/2024 11:15

I thought the same @LostCats 🤣 I'm holding out for the big tin to come free again 🤞

We have the Desire Delux ones (and their brand of ball run) and really recommend. We've never had the big name brands and really curious what makes Connetix better at all - would love to hear further opinion on this!

Mostly , imo, it's just the strength of the magnets. Connetix are stronger. They are solid and well made so not likely to break (very important considering the tiny magnets inside them). The connetix have a small bit of give in the centre of that tile, compared to desire deluxe, which I suppose would mean they are less likely to snap if stood on , that said the DD ones feel strong and both have been stood on here. If money is no object I'd buy connetix, but DD is a very good second option and I'd buy more with no concerns.
I've taken a pic of one of each tile. Red is connetix, orange is DD.
Hope it helps
