Is it still 'Christmas' at your house?

We can't celebrate until the 30th this year. It feels very strange. They've stopped playing Christmas songs on the radio, the fresh Christmas food is all sold out, I saw someone at the dump today disposing of their tree... Please tell me you're still in 'Christmas mode' at your house, make me feel less left out!!

Very much still Xmas here! Tree will stay up probably until the 5th. Xmas treats still being enjoyed. Living room still scattered with toys. 🙂

Same

I would like it to be but I don’t really know how to. The tree’s still up

ShowOfHands · 27/12/2023 22:15

Heck YES.

I've been to the panto today and then stopped at Aldi and found it full of reduced Christmas food. I have a huge gammon, pigs in blankets, buffet food, more crackers and cheese. I plan to eat Christmas food until next week.

Fairy lights are on, I'm eating gingerbread and about to read the end of my current Christmas read before starting the next.

Christmas ends on the 1st here. I've been listening to Christmas radio shows I missed via BBC Sounds, rather than live stuff.

Usually I put the tree up around the 20th/21st, it's up till NYE and this week is festive. This year I gave into my older teen dc and put the tree up ealier and now can't wait to get rid of it and all the Christmas food. Quite annoyed at myself, enjoy your lovely Christmas week. I messed mine right up!

MeditatationMum · 27/12/2023 22:16

Yep. Still in Christmas mode here. Just returned from a Christmas meal with the in laws and are having a Christmas night out with the siblings tomorrow.

TheChosenTwo · 27/12/2023 22:17

Nope, it was all gone yesterday as we came on holiday today!
Felt so lovely and clear and bright 😂
We put it up on the 15th December so it’s not as if we’d had it up for months but I’d had enough of it all anyway and we always take it all down on Boxing Day because we go away for new year.

flowerchild2000 · 27/12/2023 22:17

Yep! We are prolonging on purpose. I see it as a winter celebration anyway so I feel like we can celebrate until snow melts in spring 🤷🏼‍♀️

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 27/12/2023 22:19

Yes. My partner and I have hired two cottages in London and Cotswolds from 23rd-3rd. It's also my bday on the 1st Jan. We only holiday 2x a year and this is the one where we chill, eat and have a few drinks. Life is hard at the moment so let's embrace the festivities x

SnowRoomAtTheInn · 27/12/2023 22:21

Still fully in Christmas mode.

Tree and decorations still up and still ploughing through festive food and spending a lot of time eating ridiculous meals (trifle for breakfast, obvs) and watching stupid amounts of telly.

Had friends round this afternoon and we ate our own body weights in cheese & biscuits, mince pies and Christmas cake while listening to my cheesy ‘Cosy Christmas Jazz’ playlist Grin.

I’ve still got another mince pie and rousing rendition of Slade in me yet!

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 27/12/2023 22:23

I had babybel, mince pie, and after eight mints for dinner. Definitely still Christmas!

Loub55 · 27/12/2023 22:23

I was confused when were travelling back from a family boxing day get together this morning, when I tried to put the radio onto Heart Xmas and it wasn't there!

Xmas has always lasted until New Years Day in our family!

SusanKennedyshouldLTB · 27/12/2023 22:24

Christmas until the 6th of jan in our house. We end christmas with a sticking and chalking the door.

flapjackfairy · 27/12/2023 22:26

i refuse to admit that it is over until somewhere around the end of February myself.

pictoosh · 27/12/2023 22:26

Still Christmas here. Trip to the cinema and cheese and biscuits for dinner.

Ceit · 27/12/2023 22:27

Yes. Christmas is from 24th December until 5th January in my mind. We're going to do a Christmas light trail tomorrow.

Palomabalom · 27/12/2023 22:28

No - I started taking everything down today! V happy this Xmas is over and I can pack it all away in the cupboard. Off on holiday tomorrow and just want it all away for when I get back! Doesn’t feel like Xmas now anyway.

daffodilandtulip · 27/12/2023 22:32

Yep. It's still trifle for breakfast season. And I still can't see the floor for gifts.

StiffyByngsDogBartholomew · 27/12/2023 22:33

We both worked over Christmas (emergency services) so today was our Alternative Christmas Day. So yes, very much still Christmas here ! We had even saved presents and watched Aladdin and Cool Runnings this evening accompanied by lovely cheese with homemade biscuits and chutneys/jellies

OchonAgusOchonOh · 27/12/2023 22:33

I'm Irish and here Christmas traditionally goes on until Nollag na mBan (women's Christmas), also known as little Christmas. That is the 6th January. Traditionally, women gather together to celebrate and do no work for the day.

Decorations are staying up, lights lit etc until after Nollag na mBan in my house. One of the dc is home until 30th, second until the 1st and the youngest until the 7th so that also keeps it Christmasy.

backinthebox · 27/12/2023 22:35

I was away overseas at work until lunchtime on Christmas Day. I spent Boxing Day driving the length of the country to be with family. Today was the first entire day where I laid around, ate Christmas food and had Christmas drinks - I’m only just getting going! We are going to visit more family tomorrow.

I find it really sad that people decide that Christmas is over as soon as they’ve opened their presents on Christmas morning. There is more (well, there should be more) to Christmas than the materialism.

RufustheFactualReindeer · 27/12/2023 22:35

Still in Christmas mode

ds1 and partner have just left but they are back on friday when 10 other members of the extended family will join us for the evening/overnight

Christmas until the 6th of jan in our house. We end christmas with a sticking and chalking the door.

What's a sticking and chalking of the door?

maddiemookins16mum · 27/12/2023 22:38

We went to the Panto today and still have a tub of unopened thick cream in the fridge, so yes, still Christmas here.

Jessiepaintyourpicture · 27/12/2023 22:38

Definitely still celebrating Christmas here! Had family visit for the past couple of days and we're off to see more relatives tomorrow.

Then a couple of days relaxing, enjoying the decorated house and eating treats before celebrating New Year.

And the tree stays up til Twelfth Night.
