It's a leap year next year, so an extra day to wait!

I've ordered 120 baubles today, as WeRChristmas sent me a 50% code for today only. Annoyingly I could get our new tree way cheaper today! 😭

I'm exhausted now I've finally had time to sit and relax. Tomorrow is a chill day.

I’m exhausted too. Dh went back to bed after the dc opened their presents this morning, fell asleep after lunch and then went to bed at 9pm 🤨

MerryChristmas23 · 25/12/2023 22:38

I'm thinking of doing a complete tree and decorations overhaul for next Christmas, most of our trees are old (we have 7), same for decorations, all are looking a bit dull now and I'm fed up with the colour scheme. I'm going to keep an eye out for some lovely ones in the January sales.

AdoraBell · 25/12/2023 23:24

We’re recovering, DH has gone to bed and DDs have just woken up from long naps.

DH bought cards half price. We’ll be looking for crackers.

Hope everyone had a good Christmas Day 🎅

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/12/2023 01:01

I bought new napkins to go with my tablecover , washed them overnight , dried the tablecover ....and forgot the napkins hanging up to dry <sigh>

My DS was at the gym on Christmas Eve and up late gaming so I tiptoed into his room with his presents (chocolate , gym top and Cat Present . His money was a transfer online) . He was pretending to be asleep (little git Xmas Grin )

I made The Best roast potatoes and Yorkshire Puddings .

The cats had chicken and basically lazed about (as per )
DD was very impressed at her presents ( she;s my Good Christmas Child )

Tomorrow is a relaxed day , homemade pizza day .
Then I;m at work Wed/Thur
Might wander out to the shops on Friday .

Had a lovely day yesterday. The grandpuppies came and had some turkey. Dinner was ace although I didn't eat much as I go off it after I cook, but I enjoyed what I had.

Working this afternoon but from home, so just making a left overs pie which will be smothered in gravy.

TheBucktoothedGirlFromLuxembourg · 26/12/2023 18:01

Thanks for the new thread @NoWordForFluffy

I have wrestled the left over behemoth turkey into the freezer and sorted out some slices for sandwiches for tomorrow and then that's it with festive food.

Tonight's plans involve wine and knitting

NoWordForFluffy · 26/12/2023 20:21

Evening!

We're planning early nights for everyone tonight as DH and I are bloody exhausted. This moving / preparing for Christmas malarkey is all very well and good in the midst of it, but we both feel like we've been hit by trucks now it's over!

I've just ordered two of these from B&Q to hopefully grow a bit bigger for next year! 🎄 They'll go nicely either side of the front door.

I love those Fluffy.

Work is carnage, really busy and nobody in. I am exhausted now.

We are having a buffet tea tomorrow with my daughter and son in law which will be lovely. We are going to play a game with good/bad tasting jellybeans which will be fun (or not)

NoWordForFluffy · 26/12/2023 20:32

Ooh. The ones with ear wax flavour included?! 🤢

The B&Q website is portraying those trees as sensitive souls, likely to cark it outside. Surely they're vaguely hardy, given their origin?! 🤔🤷‍♀️🎄

OP posts:
whydoesitalwayshappentome · 26/12/2023 20:33

Similar to the ear wax ones yes. I am bound to get the disgusting ones.

I can't see that they would be outdoor trees and be that weak. I am sure that can't be right.

Mustbethemulledwine · 26/12/2023 22:25

We're absolutely exhausted today, too. Yesterday was a long day. We've done absolutely nothing today, except a couple of loads of laundry and dishes. We did have another roast, but that was just a case of throwing leftovers on a plate and heated in the micro. Now in bed with my new Kindle, but I'm struggling to concentrate on reading. I'm so tired!!

AdoraBell · 26/12/2023 23:29

We managed to walk the dog 🐕 today, I’m claiming that as a win. Both DDs went for a quick snooze after dinner yesterday, and woke up just before midnight. I left them to it, they were eating cream tea when I went to bed.

Other than a couple of washes, tea towels and the tablecloth after I spilt my red wine 🤦‍♀️, we’ve had a lazy day.

Those trees look lovey NoWordForFluffy hope they last well.

Bloody hell, it's bracing bastard wet, windy and freezing out there! ☔️ 💨 🥶 The 🐕 can't moan though, as he got an hour's walk.

So many massive puddles out there, so it must've chucked it down overnight. They bloody hide their depth until you're in them too. 😭😭

AdoraBell, there's a stain on my tablecloth which is annoying, especially as I put stain remover in the wash. I need a sunny day to wash it so it'll bleach out, I think.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/12/2023 08:16

My trees are out of stock and have been refunded. Xmas Sad

GrannyWeatherwaxsBroomstick · 27/12/2023 08:43

Thank you @NoWordForFluffy we had roast beef for Christmas cos DS doesn't like turkey.

DH is joining in this year and planning outdoor lights to in his words 'go the full Griswald' next year.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/12/2023 09:02

I did beef, lamb and pork as none of us are bothered about turkey. I have a pie in the fridge ready to cook which is a mix of all the meats and leftover gravy, with a filo lid! It's going to be amazing. 😋

WreckTangled · 27/12/2023 09:22

I’ve been to the gym, was the only one in there. Nothing planned today apart from trying to get some kind of order in the house. I’ve kept the kitchen clean and tidy and on top of washing. Dh has done fuck all I’m very close to calling it quits.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/12/2023 11:43

If you're not happy, then you should do, Wreck. I don't believe staying in relationships where the so-called partner brings nothing to the table in relation to 'team work'.

OP posts:
NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 27/12/2023 15:03

Sounds tough Wreck. Have you pointed out how unbalanced it is?

Fluffy I've asked my dad to scout the local B&Q for mini bargain trees - for us it's saying in stock but unavailable for c&c for some reason 🙄

We're away for Christmas so we've done a mix of day trips and chilling out. Christmas Day was a spa followed by a walk then dinner, films and a jigsaw.
It's lovely and snowy here but so many people are unprepared. It's currently -2° and there are a couple who aren't wearing scarves, hats or gloves, have normal trainers on and are complaining that they're cold and sliding all over the place on the ice Xmas Hmm

Home soon though, ready to tackle whatever mess we left behind and the holiday washing.

WreckTangled · 27/12/2023 15:52

Meeces how can people be so silly, obviously it’s going to be cold! I can’t talk to him because any time I even try to broach it he gets all defensive/woe is me/that’s not true/yeah I’m so awful and goes off in a strop.

Ds went out for a bike ride with his friend earlier and got drenched! He had fun though and is back in his pjs now. Dd is having a nap. I’ve booked Wonka for tomorrow.

Morning!

We've had quite the weather here. High winds and a thunderstorm last night. The lightning looked impressive across the field, but it was a bit 😬 at times (whilst keeping a brave face for the kids!).

We were then kept awake by the wind. I've never heard anything like it; we were battered by it. I'm exhausted today. 😭 It's now only gusting into the mid-40mph speeds, which is an improvement on constant 55-60mph from overnight. It's set to remain windy tomorrow and Sat too.

Meeces, sounds like it's lovely where you are even the idiot-spotting!

Wreck, if you've tried and there's no acknowledgment / improvement then what else can you do? From what you've said, he opts out of housework and parenting the cast majority of the time. What exactly does he bring to the table? Would you be able to afford everything if he left?

Hello all,

Checking in to countdown to Christmas 2024! I was hopeless in 2023, but will be better next year (she says....)

Weather is horrible here so I'm cooking a roast dinner. We had a buffet on Christmas Day so today is the day for roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. No turkey as we're not keen, instead we will be having beef.

Stay warm folks.

WreckTangled · 28/12/2023 15:28

Dd and I went to see Wonka today - we loved it!

Not much fluffy but maybe the grass isn’t always greener and it would devastate the dc. Could afford it with some universal credits 😳

AperolWhore · 28/12/2023 17:59

Just want to say hi and thank you for this Christmas’s threads.

The support and positivity on these threads was fantastic x

lucysmam · 28/12/2023 20:15

Can I join in this year, please?

2023 has been an absolute shit-show & I really want to get back to being organised & sorted for next year so by December there's nothing to do apart from a bit of wrapping & enjoy the season.

With that in mind, I booked our Boxing Day 2024 Panto tickets this morning. Very few left already & we'd probably have missed out if I'd waited.

It's dd2's birthday today & I expected her being up bright and early, but she had a lie in so I read a bit more of Merry Midwinter while I had my cuppa this morning, and wrote myself some more notes to transfer to my Mum Book one morning over the weekend 😊
