It's a leap year next year, so an extra day to wait!

I've ordered 120 baubles today, as WeRChristmas sent me a 50% code for today only. Annoyingly I could get our new tree way cheaper today! 😭

I'm exhausted now I've finally had time to sit and relax. Tomorrow is a chill day.

I keep meaning to go to Libertys at Christmas for a look.
I went years ago (probably in the 90s !) it was jampacked busy . Maybe now it won't be too bad at Christmas , more people shopping online .

TheBucktoothedGirlFromLuxembourg · 28/04/2024 19:51

I'm still here too. We've just had turkey, gammon and stuffing for dinner. It's cold enough for Christmas as well.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/04/2024 19:54

It's been lovely here today. We had 3 beers on the balcony at lunch time. It was glorious! ☀️

Rained overnight. Not sure how much; enough to create some puddles! Dry and pretty breezy now. From the south, so blowing at the front of the house. Thankfully we had our windows adjusted as a snagging item, so it's no longer as windy indoors as out!

Tomorroe takes us into the two hundred and thirties Xmas Shock

Looking forward to the Bank Holiday and hopefully it'll be nice weather to get out in the garden and see what needs tidied or pruned .
My dogwood is amazing , not a 'pretty' plant but lots of leaves and white flowers and it fills a gap at a low fence .When it goes red it is gorgeous .

Hopefully your Pyracantha does the same Fluffy , ours is a good few years old , we cut back the stray branches otherwise it catches the clothes airer and us if we walk by . But as a barrier it is first class !
And berries in winter for birds ,

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 29/04/2024 19:31

Jealous of your pic Fluffy. It's been nothing but grey and cold here.

We saw Russell Howard 70. He was very good.

I managed to shift about 80% of the migraine so I went to the theatre but couldn't wait to get to bed afterwards.

I'm still undecided about some sort of evergreen something for a pot so I can have colour in winter. It'll be Christmas by the time I decide at this rate (although that may be better so I can actually see what I'll get in the season I want it for IYSWIM).

NoWordForFluffy · 29/04/2024 20:38

It's bloody miserable now, Meeces. ☔️

I'm glad you shifted the migraine enough to go out.

I'm going to buy two mini Christmas trees this year, for either side of the front door.

My poor dogwoods haven't recovered from being posted yet. I'm not sure when to give up! 😩

Morning!

We had an empty house martins nest on the side of the house, as they'd flown off to warmer climes before we moved in. It's now got house martins in. Dear god. They are bloody noisy. 😩 Beautiful birds, but it sounds like C3PO and R2D2 have moved in. 🤣

Should be dry today. Hopefully!

I'm still here too!

Went to Battersea Power Station at the weekend, nice shops, restaurants and a lovely cocktail bar. Also a lift in one of the chimneys thats quite a nice sight seeing thing.

Fluffy your balcony view is lovely. Don't give up with the dogwood, I've had stuff come back after a year.

Nice weather starting again so I'm very hopeful for bank holiday gardening. 🌻

NoWordForFluffy · 30/04/2024 07:20

Funny you should say that, Magnolia, as I was just looking at it thinking we may not really know if it's coming back until it's had a full season. Time will tell...two chances! 🤣

The pyracantha was planted straight out, so hopefully that will do well. You see loads round here, thriving, so can only hope ours will join in!

Battersea sounds lovely. And the lift sounds like one the kids would like!

We're decorating the lounge this weekend. Sigh. It'll look lovely done, but effort! Hopefully the paint only needs one coat, as two would be a pain.

Magnoliasunrise · 30/04/2024 18:24

Yes i think the kids would like it - its a bit Charlie and the chocolate factory when you come up to the top in the glass bit.

Good luck with the painting - its a hard job but worth the effort.

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 01/05/2024 18:15

238 Evening from a very soggy Wales

Fluffy we have sparrows nesting in our guttering above the bathroom window and they're loud enough!

Good luck with your painting. Truly one of my least favourite jobs. We have to do the spare room soon. Will literally take 2 hours and I keep putting it off Blush

I'm sat at a table waiting for DH to join me. It was my office day and he had to come to the city got a work thing at 3 so we've decided to treat ourselves to a meal out and cocktail for me

Evening!

It's been a dry day today, but is looking a bit ominous now. Apparently it's going to rain shortly.

I've just planted DS' sunflower outside. They sowed seeds at school and his was getting quite tall.

We have 5/10 tomato seeds growing, which is plenty. We don't need more than 5 plants between us. 🍅 🍅🍅

I need to go and get more gravel for the front. I got 6 bags and it was nowhere near the coverage I expected! 🙈 6 more bags are needed. Hopefully Little Miss Trample Fag Butt will definitely understand it's not an area to walk or abandon rubbish on once it's done!

We had Biblical Rain, Thunder and Lightning about 4am. It felt so nice and clear this morning like you get aftr a storm.
(And I don't need to water things in pots - Brucie Bonus )

Wanders off singing

Thunderbolt and lightning, very, very frightening me

Morning All
Off to do my New Tradition on a Friday
Take DD to work , buy her a croissant and lunch , buy breakfast for the rest of us .

My life has an ordered pathway it would seem . Xmas Grin

Magnoliasunrise · 03/05/2024 15:31

i had a pain au raisin this morning 70, might make this my new tradition 😊

It's a Tradition I get with Xmas Grin

Though they don't sell pan au raisin in Greggs . JusRoll used to do delicious ones but they stopped and the New Recipe Cinnamon Swirls and Croissants (with chocolate or plain) aren't nice now Sad
Not a fan of the Sainsbury ones and no Tesco in the town centre

M&S might be worth a visit ...instore Bakery .

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 03/05/2024 16:04

I'm a bit more down-market than you 70 - if we do a Greggs breakfast I have a sausage bap.

I've had a nice day so far. Worked half day and have been dog sitting this afternoon.

DH is picking me up soon and we're getting on the road as we're away for a couple of nights for a much needed break.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/05/2024 16:24

Enjoy your weekend Meeces
I'm hoping tomorrow is nice I have loads of washing to do .

DH has the Greggs pasties for breakfast - they had a Veg Curry Pastie at Christmas he said was nice .

The AirFryer is brilliant for croissants , DS has chocolate put in his then baked , just a couple of minutes .

ItsSerious · 04/05/2024 08:20

Morning everyone,

I've just joined Mumsnet after years of lurking 😲 This thread made me join! Hope you don't mind a newbie.

I'm about to get up and do all last night's washing up before DP wakes up hopefully. Planning to move a few plants around outside this morning and mow the lawn if the ground is dry enough. I prefer a rainy day but I'll let the sun-lovers have their moment as I've been lucky enough to have a decent amount of rain lately!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend. 😊

NoWordForFluffy · 04/05/2024 08:21

Morning!

I'm tired. Nodded off on the sofa last night then couldn't get back to sleep when I came upstairs to bed. 😩

Episode 4 of Clarkson's Farm was dead sad (we watched them all). I cried a bit. (No spoilers!)

I'm meant to be decorating today, but I can't face doing the whole room. So I'm going to do it one wall at a time! Make it more manageable.

I need to get out with the dog first. Struggling!

In dogwood news: one of them has a tiny new leaf on its base, which is giving me hope for the other two. 🤞

I forgot Clarksons Farm was back on will have to watch that over the weekend.

Lovely day currently, I have hung some washing out and will probably do another load once my son emerges from his room.
