It's a leap year next year, so an extra day to wait!

I've ordered 120 baubles today, as WeRChristmas sent me a 50% code for today only. Annoyingly I could get our new tree way cheaper today! 😭

I'm exhausted now I've finally had time to sit and relax. Tomorrow is a chill day.

I think chips said she would start one around New Year's Day.

Thank you!

FoolShapeHeart · 30/12/2023 22:23

My Christmas has been a mix of lovely and disastrous, and it feels like it's over already, which is sad but also a relief. I'm ready for this year to be done! I've bought some crafting bits in the sale for MiniFool to make gifts throughout the year, and reduced pyjamas, still have plenty of cards, tags and wrap. I am going to plan the sh*t out of Christmas 2024 😂

Schneekugel · 30/12/2023 22:45

I'm joining this thread! 😁 You all seem so positive about Christmas. I need that. I always kind of dread it and ignore it until I can't, but the whole year centers around it really. It's the main event. I had a good Christmas Day this year by putting my foot down, but there was drama surrounding it either side which I could have done without. I need some positive role models for how to do Christmas properly!

Vic231 · 30/12/2023 22:54

Now this is my type of thread 😄 I love Christmas sooo much, it's almost a running joke with my friends that I'll be on countdown as soon as Boxing Day arrives and now I can do that with others 😂 anyone else absolutely hate New Year or am I alone in that one?

NoWordForFluffy · 30/12/2023 23:00

New Year is meh! If I manage to see NYD in, it's a miracle!

Not sure we're role models, @Schneekugel, but we do love Christmas! ❤️🎄🎅🏻

If anyone wants to use my refferal code to get £10 off a bargain sale item feel free! I get credit so win win. I've used my credit to get gifts to put away.

I'm not a New Year fan either .
The TV is rubbish , it doesn't feel warm'n'cosy like Christmas does .
And I;m rubbish at Resolutions as there's nothing I want to give up .

I have joined the Princessing Thread ( in preparation for a holiday in August ) but most of it is things I;m already doing , just add on a couple more Good Habits .

Schneekugel · 30/12/2023 23:54

I love New Year more than Christmas but as I have nobody to celebrate it with I feel a bit left out. I live in the suburbs on the very edge of my town so all the celebrations and happiness passes me by. New Year was better when I lived more centrally. Although I had nobody to go out with I still felt as though I was in the thick of it and could see all the fireworks from my window.

lucysmam · 31/12/2023 17:14

I'm not particularly fussed about NY at all - although I do quite enjoy putting upcoming events onto a new calendar/diary. 5 months & 15 days to Taylor Swift...5 months & 19 days to The Killers 😊 So looking forward to those two dates in particular!

I may or may not stay up til midnight, we're going to get early showers, play a round or two of 221b Baker St, and then I'll decide if I cba.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 31/12/2023 17:25

I am not a New Year fan particularly as it is just another day and I don't do resolutions, as I can't see the point. I won't stay up till midnight as tv is quite boring and I was on an early shift, which was really busy.

Poppins17 · 31/12/2023 17:50

Hi,

I’d love to join in please.

I tend to follow the Christmas threads from around September. My birthday is 17th which marks 99 days to Christmas (in a normal year). Not sure what it is but I love the festive season.

Our decorations are still up, we’re about to take the dog out for a walk to look at the last few lights remaining in our village.

Not big new year fans, it’s a Chinese and a film here.

We have booked a weekend away to Bath next December today which is exciting.

Looking forward to following along!

360 Xmas Grin

NYE here will be quite quiet. Have spent the majority of the day in A&E with DD, all is well now, but on meds and calpol for the next few days. I'm just about to get in the shower and some comfy pj's

I fully intend to eat a kilo of cheese and be tucked up in bed by 10.00pm, DH will probably see in the new year just because the dog is not keen on the fireworks.

Nothing planned for tomorrow aside from roasting a big gammon, eating more cheese and the remaining Christmas Goodies.

The thought of going out in this grim weather is not appealing but whatever you are all up to. I hope you have a lovely evening and a very happy and healthy 2024.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 31/12/2023 20:33

Ahhh hope your DD is ok @MrsDilligaf

There's never a good time to be in A&E but it seems 1000x worse at this time ( years ago my DMum was taken to A&E by 999 Ambulance , not a Christmas Night I want to repeat ! Got out about 3am Boxing Day and had to find her medication as the hospital didn't prescribe her any to take away . )

DH DD and I have watched 2 series of afterlife (the Lesley Sharpe and Andrew Limcoln series , not Ricky Gervais ) . The penultimate episode of Series 2 is the saddest one .
We've had dinner , now loafing about wondering if we can stay awake till the Bells . It is tipping down off/on which might deter the fireworks and keep the cats from going into orbit !

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/01/2024 00:15

Happy New Year Count-Downers Grin
I;ve had a half tin of lemonade shared with DD (I don't drink alcohol or fizzy drinks ) now off to brush my teeth as it is so sweet <ugh>

Dh is watching the BBC Scotland New Year show but I am now officially , bowing out .

Happy New Year! 🥳

We're watching Rick Astley. We were musing about when his revival happened and when he became so cool. He's far more famous now than he ever was in the 80s! He seems like a nice guy.

I went to see fireworks 🎆 happy new year!

NoWordForFluffy · 01/01/2024 08:04

We could see all of the fireworks along the coast from our lounge window, including the ones in Liverpool (about 15 miles away), plus all the ones local to us as well. It was spectacular!

The views from this house are superb including the 1000s of geese which spend a lot of time on the fields opposite!

Happy New Year 🥂

Fluffy I was a Rick Astley fan as a kid in the 80s and thanks to DH, I'm going to see him in Feb Grin

We saw in the new year then went to bed. Only stayed up really so I could do the superstition thing of opening the back door then front door.

I hope your dd is ok MrsD

Right, time to get going. Decs are coming down today!

WreckTangled · 01/01/2024 09:16

I was in bed early. Have been to the gym and Sainsburys. Need to continue with my essay today and get some washing on. Tree came down yesterday and it was sad coming down this morning without it there!

ruralwanderer · 01/01/2024 09:45

Kids Party Craft have 20% off everything with the code NEWYEAR. I've just bought some stocking fillers for next year Xmas Grin Also great for party bags if you've got birthdays coming up.

lucysmam · 01/01/2024 09:46

Morning All! Happy New Year.

I was in bed by 10:30, woken up by the fireworks then a trip to the loo at 2am where I discovered the girls still awake in dd1's bedroom 🙈

It'll be slow here today - ceiling decs will come down & we'll slowly do the rest over the week.

Just about to put the smallest piece of brisket in the slow cooker - I forgot to defrost something to go with it 🤷‍♀️ it'll do with the rest of dinner (I think).

MrsDilligaf · 01/01/2024 11:04

Morning all. Happy New Year 🥳

DD is okay, we think she has some intolerances which are causing a few issues.

Fireworks were bonkers here...started at about 11.30, still going on at 1.00am, poor DDog wasn't a happy sausage,

Not a lot planned for today, but I will potter about doing a few jobs in between reading my Christmas books.

Have a lovely day whatever you get up to x

Evening!

We're planning early nights for everyone tonight as DH and I are bloody exhausted. This moving / preparing for Christmas malarkey is all very well and good in the midst of it, but we both feel like we've been hit by trucks now it's over!

I've just ordered two of these from B&Q to hopefully grow a bit bigger for next year! 🎄 They'll go nicely either side of the front door.

@NoWordForFluffy have these arrived yet? Do you have a pic? I'm debating getting some but not sure how big they are / will they fit in the car?

NoWordForFluffy · 01/01/2024 13:03

I'm glad your DD is on the mend, MrsD. Are you going to have full testing done once everything is open again?

@Decafflatteplease, they cancelled them from the order. Xmas Sad I might just fork out full price this year, so I don't get the runts of the litter! Xmas Grin
