I know there’s one every year and I appreciate some people find it distasteful but if that’s you, please just look away. I know so many people love it and I want to see all your fridges!! I have to go to waitrose tonight and then have meat being delivered on Friday so will post mine then🎄

Agree. It's horrid. Around 3 million people in the UK use a food bank.

Out of 70 million.

Out of 70 million.

Shame on you.

Shame on you.

I’m just putting context to your post.

OhpoorMe · 20/12/2023 17:21

Why don't we all just agree to ignore people derailing the thread? I love this tbh read every year even if I never have a fridge like it!

StupidStunts · 20/12/2023 17:23

This thread not existing would make zero difference to the people who sadly need to use food banks.

No you're not, you're trying to minimise 3 million people using food banks.

GetWhatYouWant · 20/12/2023 17:30

I clicked on this because I had absolutely no idea what a Christmas fridge was.
I just find it utterly bizarre that people want to show total strangers what's in their fridge! I could sort of understand people showing the final dishes when everything has been cooked but who wants to see a load of packets of ingredients or ready meals, it's really weird.
All those who like to see strangers' fridge contents, do you ask to see what's in the fridges of your family and friends when you visit them at Christmas, and if not, why not?

piscofrisco · 20/12/2023 17:30

I love it when my fridge is full of the Christmas stuff, it's when Christmas begins for me. Ergo I love looking at other people's Christmas fridges. Does that mean I'm not aware that I'm very lucky and other people may not be in the same position? No. FWIW I make alot of donations to the food bank throughout the year but especially in December. But similarly we don't have to cancel all fun and joy because not everyone has it. If you don't like the thread don't look at it?

As an aside dh has picked up the bulk of the Christmas shop today. He was in charge of the order. The fridge looks worryingly bare still... I might have to intervene Grin

Current times?… Not affording the same kinds of food as others is not a new thing

Fucking hell, the things I see are grapes, yoghurt, milk and butter and some meat, hardly wagyu beef and caviar, catch yourself on.

ItsTapasTime · 20/12/2023 17:32

Place marking.
I did a deep clean of the fridge at the weekend. Found questionable jars of pesto and a packet of filo pastry I think I bought for last Christmas. I swear I’ve cleaned my fridge since then 😂. It’s now sparkly clean and half full. The meat and cheese yet to be purchased.
love this thread.

Did you stand the roddas up specially for the photo? Nicely done!

Yes! Because I only buy it at this time of year.
Xmas Grin

It’s not “cancelling all fun and joy” it’s having a modicum of self awareness that it might be a little bit off to publicly delight in your busting fridges when others are struggling to afford food, which is a basic human right. Different if it’s luxuries but these are fridges full of the basics, with a few Christmas things.

No pork pie, not enough cheese, nowhere near enough salami and such, no salmon blinis, no brandy butter. Tesco is it!
Turkey is arriving on Saturday. To be fair he's left all the veg outside and the drinks are in the outside fridge but it still doesn't look like a Christmas fridge to me!

Comedycook · 20/12/2023 17:14

@TheShellBeach how much cream do you use?!

Literally gallons.
And shedloads of Christmas puds.

Okay, point taken, I’ll get onto my luxury steak and caviar provider so that my basic fridge no longer offend you 😂

How can be something be tone deaf when the publishing platform (mumsnet) has no defined tone. It’s not ‘poverty U.K. forum’

Stop virtue signalling and fuck off so we can enjoy fridge porn - and no I can’t afford a big Christmas fridge shop but I still like looking at them.

Exactly this! Show us your photos so I can be nosey and be reminded of all the things I have forgotten about/ haven’t thought about yet 😁😁 I do love this thread each year.

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 20/12/2023 17:36

Imagine posting to tell people that you're a greedy braggart🥴

So far non of the photos are that festive. I was expecting something far better. I didn't know this was an annual tradition.

WhimsicalMoth · 20/12/2023 17:37

TheShellBeach · 20/12/2023 16:40

Okay, this is ours.

Just three of us, and I do love Christmas pudding and cream

Absolutely loving the amount of cream.. although I'd add another 5 Elmlea doubles just to be safe.

Love the mountain of veg at the side!

Ternbeach · 20/12/2023 17:40

This thread happens every year and you get the same ‘distasteful’ responses every year. Personally I love looking at other peoples Christmas fridges! If you don’t then you can just move on…

TinselTitts · 20/12/2023 17:48

Oooh nice one OP, I love this thread every year! Xmas Grin

Ignore the moaners, it's not like anyone's forcing them to read it.

OkayScooby · 20/12/2023 17:50

Maybe amend your title to tell the permanently offended that there will be pictures of fridges in the christmas fridge thread.

My only complaint is you're a bit premature, op.

TinselTitts · 20/12/2023 17:51

Well yes of course, and I also knock door to door in the street.
