I know there’s one every year and I appreciate some people find it distasteful but if that’s you, please just look away. I know so many people love it and I want to see all your fridges!! I have to go to waitrose tonight and then have meat being delivered on Friday so will post mine then🎄

The thing I’m envying the most from the photos posted so far is the size of your fridges! My fridge is quite small, my big shop is arriving tomorrow and I think I may have ordered too much fridge food to fit in it 🤦‍♀️

Candycurrantbun · 20/12/2023 19:49

Perhaps you should have stuck to Tattle, OP. 🙄

Tippletoomany · 20/12/2023 19:49

Time to get practicing your jenga!

The haters on this thread is always the same every year - I get lots of people are struggling but can you not mention on mumsnet that you’ve spent any money without being accused of bragging or in bad taste. Do you reply to posts about expensive holidays, buying presents, going out on a Saturday night, buying houses, having extensions built and accuse them of bragging. Not everyone can afford those things either!

Anyway, my Christmas fridge won’t be complete until I get my click and collect on Saturday. All I’ve got so far are the pigs in blankets!

ItsTapasTime · 20/12/2023 19:46

@NoWordForFluffy absolutely! And it has somewhere to store your ice 👍

I'm an idiot as I didn't even consider this! 🧊 🙈🤣 We've just moved house; my brain isn't functioning right now as I'm knackered!

Sgtmajormummy · 20/12/2023 19:51

This will be my third year of Christmas Fridge threads. I did wonder if the cost of living crisis would put an end to them…

Most of my trimmings are already in the freezer as I’ve prepped gravy, sprouts, PiB, Yorkshire puddings and stuffing balls. Only one bottle of fizz (we’ve been dry since June by choice) and the sweet things are cupboard or freezer.

So there’ll be a 3.5kg turkey and my usual weekly fridge contents.
Hope that’s acceptable, your Honour.

Nah. Perhaps you should stick to not interfering. 🤔🤷‍♀️

MorningSunshineSparkles · 20/12/2023 19:52

@StupidStunts i hope you and your DC have an amazing Christmas Flowers

StupidStunts · 20/12/2023 19:55

@Mistletoewench thanks ❤️

Lilithlogic · 20/12/2023 19:55

I've spent a bloody fortune and don't give a shit if it offends anyone. I'm on borrowed time, but still going, so intend on making the most of everything. And not that it's anyone's business but I donate 30 percent of what I spend every year at Christmas

NoWordForFluffy · 20/12/2023 19:56

Flowers I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, @Lilithlogic.

I LOVE my massive fridge. I had a tiny under counter one for years and got this one a couple of years ago when the last tiny one packed in. I still feel the luxury every time I open it, it makes me smile. <sadly I am over 40, teen me would have been horrified>

Thank you and you too, I start Friday with the Winter Solstice xxxxx

Agree. It's horrid. Around 3 million people in the UK use a food bank.

So nobody else is allowed nice food?
Maybe even more will be using a food bank if people weren't buying some luxury foods from them.

StupidStunts · 20/12/2023 20:01

@MorningSunshineSparkles thanks ❤️

StupidStunts · 20/12/2023 20:02

According to one pp it would be ok if we were posting luxurious food but it's offensive because it's just normal stuff - which is so nonsensical it slightly blows my mind 🤣

43ontherocksporfavor · 20/12/2023 20:02

Be more fun to look at pictures of your over stuffed bellies afterwards!😂

OdeToBarney · 20/12/2023 20:03

I usually love this thread, but I feel a bit odd about it this year. I donate every single week to the food bank, and I've done a special Christmas donation this week, including a "Christmas Dinner". I think it's picturing that, compared with what I know will be in my fridge that makes me feel a bit sad. But I don't think the thread is in bad taste, and I'll still enjoy seeing what everyone else is enjoying.

DH has covid so I may well have a glut of food as I was supposed to be catering for 5 and have a rather large turkey ordered!

Of course people are allowed nice food. We will have a well stocked fridge full of nice food come Saturday. It's the posting of photos which is distasteful.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 20/12/2023 20:04

Having been so skint before that there's been fuck all in there at Christmas and year round, on the first occasion I had a fridge full of lovely food - meat, cheese, butter, vegetables, fruit, all looking bright and fresh and ready for Christmas, I didn't just take a photo of it, I wanted to shout it from the rooftops that I have food.

I like seeing them, whether it's full of processed goods, purely fresh unprocessed, all come from Wholefoods, Fortnum and Mason, Sainsburys or Waitrose. It's fascinating seeing what people like, trying to get an idea of the meals and recipes, it can be aesthetically pleasing and part of me - because I've never believed my skintness was a reason for other people to self flagellate, I also think 'Oh, good for you, I hope you really enjoy every bit'.

No alcohol due to liver damage. I have however bought rather decadent alcohol free fizz. Sparkly tea is a revelation 😁

Kylie’s pink alcohol free fizz is lovely! Currently on offer in Tesco for £5 with clubcard. It’s not sugar heavy either, green tea extract is used instead.

Iknowtheyareusefulstorage · 20/12/2023 20:06

Place marking - expecting a flurry of pictures over the weekend.
I got a lot of pleasure from this thread last year and it forced me to clean my fridge so I could post a picture!
I decide whose house I would go round to for dinner based on the offerings 😁

blackberrychutney · 20/12/2023 20:16

Being a Chef for many years I cannot handle the disorganisation of some of these Fridges!
Fruit and raw meat on the same shelf, milk and smoked Salmon.. has nobody ever heard of cross contamination! Also fantastic effort for standing the clotted cream up to show the brand 👏

This sparkling rosé is also lovely, and currently on offer at £3.50 (also made with green tea)

On the fridge note, I'll post Saturday after my food order arrives.

Its good for people to be told they are tone deaf and tacky sometimes

Agreed. I feel the same about presents under the tree pictures. I'm fortunate to be able to have a lovely Christmas present situation for my dd. But I'd never post it because there are people who are struggling and I'd never want to make some one feel badly
