Thread 13 - the one with the loot from Black Friday | Mumsnet

Thanks for all your help so far everyone. Missed out on the giant love hearts after trying a laptop, mobile and MacBook, don’t know what I was doing wrong but never mind!
not sure whether this fire engine decoration is any good? fire engine

I'm nearly done but wondered if you could help with the following please
joint present for our best friends for around £30- previous gifts have included games, recipe books and I have no idea this year! We go on holiday with them and their son and off to Mexico next year on a road trip- wondered if we could get them something related to this?

husband- notoriously difficult to buy for, he’s starting a new job in the new year and will be commuting into London. He’s really into mountain biking but has more stuff than one person needs for this, Enjoys craft beers and have bought him a beer brewing experience in the past which went down well. He’s had a tough year and would like to show him how much we love him. Doesn’t need to cost a fortune and don’t want too buy things unnecessarily but if anyone has any amazing ideas I’d be really grateful.

thanks so much and sorry for the long link, I even read the instructions and think I’ve still got it wrong!

Also missed the swizzles. I am also struggling with dh present, he loves the stuff yours does (as well as being a magic the gathering nerd) but again feel I have already covered that in previous years. One year I bought a book called beer and food by mark dredge, now £3.50 on world of books and made up a basket with some of the beers and ingredients for some of the matched recipes. He loved that. This year I have got the beer tasting course book by mark dredge ( the works £7) and aim to get some of the beers so he can have a go at that?

I have an argos code I won't use if anyone wants it.
£10 off a £60 spend. Valid until the 16th December.

applepinkierainbow · 02/12/2023 09:23

Thank you for all the bargains. I was wondering if anyone has seen a code for ihoverboard? It's the only present I haven't bought as have been holding out for a discount....

paintyhands · 02/12/2023 09:25

The Bonne Maman advent calendar is down to £12.99 on Amazon - the last thing we need is another advent calendar but, of course, I’ve ordered it!

for those looking for noodle bowls how about typo? come with lots of designs, and either a pair of chopsticks or a spork. £12 at the moment but I have seen them cheaper, so might be worth watching?

I’m a bit behind on reading the threads, so sorry if this has already been mentioned, but Scrawlrbox have their 70% sale on past boxes and some other items reduced (blank mug kits, big watercolour sets). I’ve put my code on the referral thread as this should take sets down to under £5: maybe a nice stocking filler for arty teens?

Edited

I've searched but can't find the link to the referral thread anyway... Sorry if I'm being blind. Would you mind sharing your code/link to the thread?

RJnomore1 · 02/12/2023 09:37

@Someaddedsugar do you have a budget in mind? We can suggest a few around particular price points for you.

Someaddedsugar · 02/12/2023 09:39

@RJnomore1 around £20 please! Thank you so much!

BoopK · 02/12/2023 09:43

Can anyone help with explaining how Very works please? I've seen lots of posts about how to get a discount but have scanned through the thread and I'm boggled.
I've seen something for DD that's £70 which is cheaper than elsewhere but I don't want a credit account as I can pay off in full, what's the best way of getting a discount please?

pinkchampagne1 · 02/12/2023 09:48

Great offer on Yankee Candle site. They have packs of 2 medium candles reduced from £49.99 to £29.99 and they are also buy one get one free. I added a reduced Woodwick candle to get free shipping and then qualified for a 2 pack Woodwick gifts for £20 rather than £52. I got the 2 Yankee gift sets, Woodwick set and a small Woodwick candle for £56.58. The Woodwick set alone should have been £52!

@KG1145 but people seem to be having mixed success on combining referral with other offers: fingers crossed it works for you.

Just wanted to say a massive thank you for all the suggestions for gifts for my mum and the kind words- I know quite a few of us are in the same boat.
I've just bought her the most beautiful fossil purse and some gardening bits to go with the rest which were all ideas from previous thread.
Really feeling festive now with the spirit of Christmas on this thread xx

So sorry for your loss @Beckafett

Wishing you and your mum a lovely Xmas 🎄

The big 20% discount is only available when you open a new credit account. You don’t have to use the credit account to pay, but you do have to apply, be accepted, and take on the account, which shows on your credit score. This is the reason I hadn’t done one previously, but I was making a large purchase and so for a £300 discount it was worth it to me.

Other than that, Quidco and TopCashBack are the only real options that I know of.

I'm looking for a nice but bargainous ramen bowl for my 15 year old - has anyone seen any?

Typo have loads. Starting at £6 for the ones in the sale.

RJnomore1 · 02/12/2023 10:02

I’d go kraken or dead man’s fingers at that price. You’ll get both easily in the supermarket. Both nice.

This Bakugan isn’t a bad stocking filler for £2.40

OhRex · 02/12/2023 10:08

@Beckafett havent RTFT but personally, as someone who likes to dabble in gardening, those type of gift sets would go unused! The hand cream sounds great, and a voucher for their favourite gardening centre might be something that gets used more? Unless you know your mum needs anything that comes in those sets….and is a fan of matching patterned things…..? I’d much rather have something that really works / like a great pair of secateurs. Feel free to ignore me though 😂

fishfingersandchipsagain · 02/12/2023 10:09

I know the Quidco £10 bonus has been mentioned already, but I just thought I’d highlight the retailers included as it’s a lot of the ones mentioned often on here… Debenhams, Etsy, Masters of Malt, Hotel Chocolat, M&S NOTHS, The Entertainer

£10 cashback bonus on a £50 spend, plus the regular cashback. You need to opt in, and it’s limited to the first few thousand. Once you have opted in you have the rest of the day to make the purchase, but make sure you click though to the retailer via Quidco when you come to buy.

HTH! (I know a lot of people know, but thought it would help someone who hasn’t done it before)

Look at ‘other sellers’ - it’s still there at £12.99 with Prime (longer delivery date though).

Sorry, meant to add the actual list of sellers via screenshot too 🙄
