Thread 13 - the one with the loot from Black Friday | Mumsnet

13 - unlucky for some. Let's hope it's very lucky for us! I bought a couple of things in the Black Friday sales - an amazon stick (I'm pretty sure we...

@dizzygirl1 i got the sock advent too 😊 I haven’t started mine yet though never had a 12 day advent before so wasn’t sure it it starts on the 1st or 12th 😂

We started opening ours yesterday but opening every other day instead of every day to make it last until Christmas 😂

MrsChristiesChristmasCake · 02/12/2023 08:27

@Chocolateteabag Thanks for the suggestion! I was thinking maybe a bottle or bottles of sake, like a tasting set? But if I Google "sake set" it just brings up sets of cups and I'm pretty sure they've got those already. Do you know any good ones?

Beckafett · 02/12/2023 08:28

Just wanted to say a massive thank you for all the suggestions for gifts for my mum and the kind words- I know quite a few of us are in the same boat.
I've just bought her the most beautiful fossil purse and some gardening bits to go with the rest which were all ideas from previous thread.
Really feeling festive now with the spirit of Christmas on this thread xx

Irritatedmum · 02/12/2023 08:29

Picked up my Bumbumz yesterday (heehee) and I’m thrilled with them - they’re going to be split up between my kids friends, just over £1 each instead of £5! Thanks again to the poster x

I suggested this to my two.... but they are impatient, excited teens currently 🤣🎄🎄

I'm looking for a nice but bargainous ramen bowl for my 15 year old - has anyone seen any?

I got great ones last year just trawling through emails to see if I can find where from. They were a bargain too

@bizzey stackers work well as you can add to the collection when you need more!

clpsmum · 02/12/2023 08:42

@BarryKentPoet look in sale section x

chocolateisavegetable · 02/12/2023 08:46

I’ve started wrapping so I’ve been dragging everything out of drawers and cupboards. I seem to have some posca pens, which I know I bought because of this thread, but I have no idea who I thought I was buying them for 😂

recklessgran · 02/12/2023 08:48

@Holidayqueen1 funnily enough I just got a nice bottle of Omeca Altos Tequila from Sainsburys for £21 using my nectar card and am putting with that a tequila cocktail book [£7.69 on Amazon] - would they like that do you think? It fits well with the Mexico theme anyway. We're giving this to DH's brother and SIL along with a bottle of Tequila Rose which fits nicely into our £40 budget for them and I know will be well received - they are party animals with a garden bar etc.

Ooh what a great idea. My 12 year old lives on Ramen and is obsessed with all things Japanese. That will go lovely in a hamper. I'm off to have a Google and report back if I see anything beautiful and bargainous.

Summerdew · 02/12/2023 08:55

Thank you @TheBigFish - will keep fingers crossed for them still having stock when I go tomorrow

MerylSqueak · 02/12/2023 09:07

I need some ideas for SIL - they recently went to Japan for a holiday and loved it (SIL has also been learning Japanese for a while, though loosely, with Duolingo). I asked my brother but he's a bit rubbish with present ideas 😅 he linked this website: https://thelineahome.nl/ but there's such a range of things, I don't really know where to start!

Can anyone help? 🙏

I can help! My ds loves Japan and my best friend lives there. My suggestions are a ramen box- matsudai ramen deliver all the stuff to make ramen in a box. Or a colouring Japanese kanji learners book, from amazon. Last year I did my son a sushi making basket- rolling mat, nori, sushi rice etc. you can get most ingredients now from supermarkets, amazon sells furiyake and wakame seaweed in big bags for miso soup. The Japan centre is good for sweets and jellies. I also got a sansho Japanese snack box from amazon for my ds and that was small but fun, some posters have suggest tk Maxx for Japanese Kit Kats?

Sparkles23 · 02/12/2023 09:12

Also just noticed £10 gifting bonus too on a long list of retailers - also opt in.
