Hi everyone.

I know there are threads that go on RE Christmas present ideas, but personally I find it hard to skim through these to get ideas (as it descends into chat IMO). I also think it would be good to have a thread for only adult present ideas/ deals.

I would love for this thread to only have links and descriptions posted so its easier to scroll through and find good ideas (no comments)Grin

I'll go first - here are some of my ideas already:
Chillys bottle currently £4 off
Big bobble hats (not on offer but very cool idea IMO)
Xmas bauble with family faces in
Powder (fire safe) candle
(not linked) but portable chargers are handy to have
These Lulu lemon mens boxers which I bought for my partner to do sport and he absolutely swears by them
Adult lego - specifically linked this one as I think it's incredibleGrin

Any reciprocated ideas/help hugely appreciated 🙏

EDIT: please don't comment to follow the thread but instead click 'watch thread'

Some really good and original ideas for me here, thank you.
4 items in my Amazon basket already to see if I feel the same in the morning!

For puzzle fans these laser cut wooden ones are wonderful. The pieces are all quite weird shapes and it’s hard to tell which ones are edges, so a smaller number of pieces is harder than it would be for a normal puzzle. They’re super satisfying to do and have some lovely pictures. https://www.wentworthpuzzles.com/challenging-irregular-puzzle-pieces

My DH was reminiscing about the Choose Your Own Adventure books he used to love as a child, after I found some for our nephew, so I found an adult, Midsummer Murders, version for him, just as a little stocking filler type of present.

I used to love those too! DS had some picture ones when small, but we haven't really found the next level (he's 11 but has some SEN and is more of a graphic novel reader though we are obviously happy he likes reading them!)

That adaptor will be great for my dad.

Am also considering some luggage trackers if anyone has recommendations ?

I’ve got AirTags, pack of 4 from Amazon, that work really well for luggage with iPhones etc,

Headabovetheparapets · 30/09/2023 03:58

Thank you to all for some great ideas
For friends & family who are crafters, I’m putting together a selection of useful bits & bobs & will probably include a luxury chocolate or tipple depending on their preference
e.g. fat quarters, pins, small scissors (you can get some really pretty ones), one handed tape measure, (just ordered some from temu) fabric pens, decorative buttons, ribbons, lace, fancy elastics, charms, hand made labels.
Also from Temu I have ordered as stocking fillers
Fridge magnets cheat sheets for cooks,
airfryer (I’ve got this one it’s great) instant pot & kitchen measurement conversions xx

Sound mini core speaker on Amaxon, currently £18 ish.
Got one for our recent holiday. Ideal, tiny little thing but holds a charge for 15 hours, and a really decent sound. Now lives in the office for podcasts.

I've got my husband a Chilli Hot Sauce Challenge, the reviews look good and its something he loves.

We tend to just buy anything in particular we want anyway, so presents tend to be more novelty.

Could you link this please?

Thanks for the thread @LoverOfSushi!

Oliver Bonas is advertising £5 off for new subscribers to their newsletter. Once you’ve signed up, you need to select ‘apply credit’ at the checkout to get your discount. For some reason it’s actually taking £10 off most people’s orders 😊 (for anyone not on the main Christmas bargain thread!).

For everyone complaining about not wanting to receive tat, maybe tell your friends and family? Telling strangers on the internet isn’t going to make any difference and is bringing down the festive cheer.

And for any travel enthusiasts:
Universal Travel adapter with USBC and USB connections
Again, I bought this for my dad and he absolutely loves it - takes it everywhere!
(As well as a passport holder, travel book and some Euros...Think that was my best present to date 😂)

Thank you for this, my daughter is off travelling in the new year and this will be a perfect gift

RedTedBoom · 30/09/2023 08:31

For those interested in Lego, John Lewis have 20% off on some sets & last year the sets on offer kept changing until near Christmas.
I managed to get the McLaren supercar for my daughter & the 20% makes a big difference
We also have Medieval Blacksmith & Sanctum Sanctorum

ShouldGoToBed · 30/09/2023 08:49

Oh and for an interesting after dinner drink for people who don’t like whiskey or sickly liqueurs, I have recently discovered frangellico and love it, it’s only 20% and not too sweet, lovely with lots of ice and lime. Might make a nice MIL or DIL present.

I’m interested in any other recommendations for similar drinks too.

Thank you for this thread. I desperately need inspiration for adults this year.

Proudgypsy · 30/09/2023 09:13

Some of these ideas sound awful to me. An expensive pair of boxer shorts is such a crap present. They might be expensive but I've never seen anyone get excited for socks/boxer shorts etc.

You’re welcome to add your own ideas if you’d like? Or even suggestions of what you would like to receive if you aren’t buying for any adults.

Some of these are great, thank you. Just ordered the Lego great wave for dd1, it’s 25% off at John Lewis

Would something like this be of any interest to him? It’s by Jason Shiga, on Amazon and aimed at 8-12 year olds. There are a few of them on there.

ETA the photo won’t load, annoyingly! It’s called ‘Meanwhile - Pick Any Path’

chesterlestreet · 30/09/2023 10:06

Thanks for this great thread. And everyone is different so all ideas welcome. My mid 20s son is in a professional role earning ok money but would never buy himself the expensive (ck) boxer trunks he loves. He would be disappointed not to get some at Christmas

FuppinNora · 30/09/2023 10:11

I'd be delighted with voucher for hairdressers/ spa / restaurant. Hairdressers because something always comes up that I have to put the money to something else and end up leaving it for months

Also pyjamas/loungewear/decent slippers.
My favourite present ever was a sherpa throw, I use it all the time.
I also got a large canvas paint by numbers one year and I enjoyed doing it in January.

I realise how middle aged I sound 😆

I agree. DS 19 favourite present Christmas 2021 was Colombia underwear I picked up from TKMaxx. I tried to find the same ones for his birthday to no avail. I found them in TKs again last year & his face was so chuffed on Xmas morning!!! He's just mentioned he needs more!

Honestly, more than all the expensive tech he wants these technical boxers. This year he's getting a stocking & cash for a trip- experiences matter to him more now, but bring comfortable whilst he's there!

So for folk dissing underwear & socks - we're all different!

PS For anyone looking for funky, adult DC socks Urban Outfitters is your new friend.
