Hi everyone.

I know there are threads that go on RE Christmas present ideas, but personally I find it hard to skim through these to get ideas (as it descends into chat IMO). I also think it would be good to have a thread for only adult present ideas/ deals.

I would love for this thread to only have links and descriptions posted so its easier to scroll through and find good ideas (no comments)Grin

I'll go first - here are some of my ideas already:
Chillys bottle currently £4 off
Big bobble hats (not on offer but very cool idea IMO)
Xmas bauble with family faces in
Powder (fire safe) candle
(not linked) but portable chargers are handy to have
These Lulu lemon mens boxers which I bought for my partner to do sport and he absolutely swears by them
Adult lego - specifically linked this one as I think it's incredibleGrin

Any reciprocated ideas/help hugely appreciated 🙏

EDIT: please don't comment to follow the thread but instead click 'watch thread'

Oh brilliant, happy to have helped! I secretly quite want both of those things.

SillyShoes · 19/10/2023 21:55

Brilliant thread, thank you everyone. I have read through this tonight and finished my adult presents, with stuff I know everyone is going to be really pleased with. Cold case files, oddballs subscription, indoor tool box, felting kit and of course turtle doves fingerless gloves. (Feels like I'm on the generation game!)

Citygirlrurallife · 20/10/2023 10:42

FYI if anyone is buying from Turtle Doves they currently have a deal of a free pair of fingerless gloves if you buy another full
price item, use FREEGLOVES

I've just added this to my husband's list - a device for keeping a push button shower on so you don't have to keep pressing it. He plays a lot of sport and the changing room showers are always rubbish. Hoping to use it when we're camping too. A bit random but might be useful for someone else!

@ChaoticCrumble my dh bought the murdle book and he loves it, he's bought it for his dad too!

  • Personalised travel mugs for anyone who is in jobs like education or hospitals. Always go down well
  • Coffee voucher
  • Kindle voucher or audible voucher
  • Nice gin or whiskey
  • Photo calendars/photo laptrays/photo snowglobes
  • Adult boardgame with some nibbles and drink
  • marshmallow cooking set

I absolutely love getting socks and candles as I never buy myself nice ones. I don't buy candles and always buy cheap black socks so enjoy fancy ones.

VouisLuitton · 28/10/2023 10:47

@Honeyandwine if you like socks and wanted to gift some, try this company:

As well as some money being donated to charity, it also goes towards supporting employment for people with Down Syndrome. The socks are quirky and great quality.

I just got this for my DM who is into science.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 28/10/2023 17:37

That's a good one @drspouse and there is another in the series plus a third either new or publishing soon. Dd (15) loves them and has got Ds (11) in to them too.

I listen to audiobooks every night to help me sleep. Every year I ask for Audible credits.... Every year I am disappointed

I know this is a month later, but you can borrow audio books through your library.

Cubic · 28/10/2023 20:36

@drspouse thank you, I'm just ordering for one of my ds now.

Wrongsideofpennines · 28/10/2023 22:15

These Treasure Trails are good fun. They are suitable for kids too but we have done a few just as adults both locally and in new towns. You can buy physical copies or just download the trail.

@Wrongsideofpennines
Thanks! That sounds fun.

Nonplusultra · 29/10/2023 06:59

@drspouse thanks for that book suggestion - another gift ticked off the list.

it put me in mind of Randall Munroe’s Thing Explainer

@Wrongsideofpennines thats perfect for DH’s stocking. Thank you.

DilemmaDelilah · 29/10/2023 07:31

@determinedtomakethiswork - by audible books, I mean 'Audible' books, the kind you download. I too saw that it was possible to borrow them from the library so I asked my DH to get me some when I was in hospital - and no, they only have books on CD. Not at all the same thing!

Stopaskingmequestionsandputthegerbildown · 29/10/2023 13:55

Try the library book box app

Cannas · 29/10/2023 15:35

Thelifeofawife · 04/10/2023 17:53

@CanIPutTheTreeUpYet They become addictive don’t they 😅 I’ve bought too much already.

For the movie hamper I managed to find large plastic popcorn buckets in Poundland (or similar), I filled them with packs of popcorn, crisps, chocolate, drinks etc, and added a couple of Christmas films.

I have also gifted small hampers with similar snacks and a small game (mini jenga)

I've just read this whole thread and have a long list. Ordered some fancy popcorn kits and the plastic popcorn buckets is a brilliant idea to go with them.

Honeyandwine · 29/10/2023 16:08

@DilemmaDelilah sometimes libraries have audiobooks that are digitally borrowed and play on an app. My library does. I tried to buy a friend audible credits as a gift but it wouldn't let me- said I could give three months instead but they already have an audible account. Really frustrating as they make great gifts.

DilemmaDelilah · 29/10/2023 16:16

@Honeyandwine that is useful to know, thank you. And regarding Audible, I looked it up and you can give 'x' number of months membership and if the person already has membership they get the equivalent number of credits that they can use all at once. The more months you buy the bigger the discount, so 12 months (= 12 credits) costs the equivalent of 10 months. I have sent my DH all the links to the information and asked him to pass it on to whoever wants it... So I have high hopes this year!

OMGitsnotgood · 29/10/2023 17:22

@drspouse and @Nonplusultra thank you for solving a couple or gift problems for me, both those books would be appreciated by one of my most difficult to buy for people who has a very enquiring mind.
