Hi everyone.

I know there are threads that go on RE Christmas present ideas, but personally I find it hard to skim through these to get ideas (as it descends into chat IMO). I also think it would be good to have a thread for only adult present ideas/ deals.

I would love for this thread to only have links and descriptions posted so its easier to scroll through and find good ideas (no comments)Grin

I'll go first - here are some of my ideas already:
Chillys bottle currently £4 off
Big bobble hats (not on offer but very cool idea IMO)
Xmas bauble with family faces in
Powder (fire safe) candle
(not linked) but portable chargers are handy to have
These Lulu lemon mens boxers which I bought for my partner to do sport and he absolutely swears by them
Adult lego - specifically linked this one as I think it's incredibleGrin

Any reciprocated ideas/help hugely appreciated 🙏

EDIT: please don't comment to follow the thread but instead click 'watch thread'

Instead of giving each other Christmas presents, my husband and I always give to a charity (a Christian one, as secular charities tend to be well supported) and my brothers and I each give to a cancer charity in memory of my mother. I usually ask our daughters for an idea of what they'd like. One year, my son in law was very pleased with a large gift box I made for him which contained various special types of cider and a tankard with'Dave's Cider' written on it, and last year we gave him another basket containing different varieties of cheeses and pickles which he also seemed pleased with. Most men are difficut to buy for - but he's really easy! One year I bought a gift voucher for a balloon flight for our son, but it lapsed......

Big hit last year was putting together a kit of travel chargers and adapters for dh, who travels for work a lot. It now lives in his suitcase. I saw the idea on MN where it was suggested that, for people who have everything, you try and solve a problem for them.

In the same vein I’m getting my sister a set of these car seat gap fillers because she drops all sorts of things down the gap and then panics because her credit card/phone/AirPods are missing.

Personalised OS Maps have been a huge hit with my outdoors loving friends and family. You can put a photo on the front and a map title but the best bit is that you can specify which place goes in the middle of the map. Available in either Landranger or Explorer scale and I think they have 20% off at the moment

We love the case files on Amazon. £20 and the whole family can get involved solving it.

I will be taking up the lego suggestion for my adult DD and partner , brilliant idea

Hedjwitch · 29/09/2023 21:30

I only have adults to buy for now so this is a good thread. The other one is mostly toys.
So far only managed two pairs of Cyberjammies for DD1. No idea what to get everyone else.

I did a flower delivery subscription for my Mum last year. She was moving to a new house and loved it. Great thread 👏

clpsmum · 29/09/2023 21:42

The society tend to do a special offer kit in October that's always a nice gift

clpsmum · 29/09/2023 21:42

Spicery not society 🤦‍♀️

Lego always a brilliant choice for adult DS. He's had the Adidas Shoe, lots of Architecture ones & the Bonsai/ blossom tree last year went down a storm.

Oddballs are an amazing company for underwear & super quality socks & sports towels & rubgy gear (if that's your thing- it is for both DS & exH). Brilliant prints and they give to cancer charities with each purchase. I've had great free hats these past 2 orders.

Fussy eco deodorant is a fab present. I've just ordered 3 - DH & both DS for stockings. 50% off right now & a further 15% off with code ZWFUSAF15.

I'm genuinely surprised to learn so many adults want lego! I think I'd cry with disappointment if someone bought me lego 😄

I haven't bought any adult gifts yet, definitely need this thread for inspiration.

Needmorelego · 29/09/2023 21:50

@BlackFlyChardonnay you don't know what you are missing. Lego is relaxing like a puzzle (if you just follow the instructions) but then as creative as you want to be because you can literally create anything.

I bought lots of different types of nuts one year when I had FIL in the secret Santa. He loved it. I got them from here but probably loads of similar ones depending on where you are https://www.nuttydelights.ie/

I recommended this on the Christmas threads last year & loads of folk bought it. I absolutely swear by it. My hairdresser suggested this years ago & I use nothing else after washing.

It is so effective, lasts forever & smells divine. A wonderful present a friend may never have heard of & wouldn't buy for themselves.

It's too expensive right now, but comes down to around £10 regularly, and was as low as £7 on Amazon last year. You can find it elsewhere too (I buy direct from hairdresser).

I love lego, the flowers are my favourites at the moment. For a few years I got given Harry Potter ones which in do love but they end up getting mixed in with the dc's stuff but the flowers are so mine and on display. I got the wildflower set for my birthday and it is beautiful.

I understand some of the comments about not liking things and not wanting to do pointless gift exchanges that end up in the charity shop. But a thread like this can give inspiration, I don't give generic stuff like toiletry sets or candles but finding a little something that is perfect for someone you love is great fun and hopefully well received.

I'm not a huge scented candle person the I adore the White Company Fireside. l got a huge one from MIL last year so I finely don't need another this year as that one is still going.

Small outdoors hobby type things can be good. Things like waterproof socks don't have to be expensive, there are some great alternatives to pricey sealskinz on amazon or for outdoor swimmers neoprene gloves.

A nice board game is great too. Tsuro went down well with family last year, it is so simple but very enjoyable. Nordic Ticket to Ride always comes out at Christmas time too. Small games like zombie dice, double, gloom, deep sea adventure etc fit very nicely in to stockings.

I have taken a screenshot of those games suggestions- thanks! We love a board game in this house.

My best friend got the Lego flowers as a gift from some children leaving school (she's a teacher). She says it's one of the best gifts she's ever had- they sit in her kitchen & she thinks of those kids all the time as a result. Lovely.

A mushroom growing kit.

That Lego Great Wave, thank you.

GettingStuffed · 29/09/2023 23:04

@LoverOfSushi
It is but I've bought a dark one

MurderintheHamily · 29/09/2023 23:05

Those glass bottles are not heat treated, heat safe and are not shatterproof. And are absolutely not safe for candles.

Please dont buy them.
