Thanks @snowmanshoes for the title!

Hello everyone, so nice to see you all. Pull up a chair, have a mince pie and a peppermint latte and share your Christmas bargains and ideas. In message two are the links and info from last year - if anyone has anything they'd like me to amend or add, please do tag me and I'll update.

A reminder not to post affiliate links in the thread but that MN do change amazon links shared by posters into MN affiliate links.

Please do watch the thread rather than post to mark place to make it easier for everyone to keep up and find relevant info.

A massive thank you to those who have contributed and/or run the prequel threads this year. I can't believe it's another year! I started these when DD was a baby and she's just gone into Year 8!

Wrt magic sets, it might just be my kids, but we have had two different Marvin's Magic sets, and they come with an overwhelming amount of "bits" plus a really big number of tricks - too much for younger kids imo unless they have a lot of parental input. I don't think my kids have really done a proper trick out of them despite it being top of DS1's wish list one Christmas, but the bits just ended up being scattered everywhere and mixed up with other stuff. Guilt has kept me from binning them but I think I might have to as they're useless now and not played with. In hindsight I would definitely go for a smaller set like Melissa and Doug with fewer but high quality components even though it's more expensive.

Haveyoubrushedyourteeth · 17/09/2023 09:01

@Simd1 it's not just your kids, mine were just the same. I'd come on to say exactly what you have!

Not so much Christmas present related but I'm desperate for some new induction hob suitable pots and pans, has anybody seen any good deals? I'd like a set built to last my last set were rubbish.

I'm also on the look out for some too!! New kitchen so going from gas to electric and my current pans are years old and in need of replacing!

Twinklemacfinkle · 17/09/2023 09:06

We recently needed new pots & pans and we also have an induction hob. We decided to go with the IKEA 365+ and they have been very good. They are sturdy but not to heavy. I found lots of the induction pans very heavy and I simply could not hold them due to a medical condition. I also think the 365 have a good range of size and types of pans

Can anyone recommend a mermaid/doll for the bath? Specifically for the bath 🙃 please

WingingIt101 · 17/09/2023 09:21

Lovely prints for young children's rooms - current offer is buy one for £29.99 and get the whole set of ten prints sent - total value £300.

We were gifted one by a friend and they are really lovely. They do come unframed but if you have a couple of young children plus a couple of nieces / nephews and then kids of friends that you buy for you could easily find ten homes for them!

Ooh no recommendations but also looking for something like this for mermaid mad toddler also a balance bike if anyone comes across any good deals!! Thanks so much 😁

Flubadubba · 17/09/2023 09:32

@BlairWaldorfOG Try ProCook. They often have offers and are built to last. Not cheap even with offers, but three years on and ours still look brand new.

Famousthehero · 17/09/2023 09:34

For the pans, Argos have some really good prices at the moment

FunWithFlags81 · 17/09/2023 09:34

Mermaids for the bath - I recommend barbie mermaids! My DD is mermaid mad and hers have been in the bath, paddling pool, swimming pool, even the beach and still look as good as new. I think there are some barbie dreamtopia mermaids in the 2 for £15 at argos?

@BlairWaldorfOG I agree with Twinklemac that the Ikea365 pans are brilliant. I actually wanted to upgrade to fancy pans but we were short of money at the end of the kitchen remodel so went with these as a stopgap. That was six years ago and actually they are so good we haven’t bothered to replace them. I do also love using my old Le Creuset on the induction hob. If I was going to really splash out I would go with Ninja pans or Le Creuset stainless steel. I think there will be offers on both in Black Friday sales.

VeruccaSalty · 17/09/2023 09:43

The good thing about the Melissa and Doug magic set is most of the tricks are built in to the equipment so the kids don't have to learn sleight of hand or anything.

WimbyAce · 17/09/2023 10:23

Thanks very much for the magic set advice, have taken it on board. Really don't want any more bits floating about lol!

With regard to saucepans we have a set of Judge saucepans and have had them for 13 years still going strong. Have just broken a lid on one but apparently you can get replacements so going to look into this.

I second this!
We've got these prints and have literally just framed them for my little boy's new bedroom.
They are beautiful. And I managed to get the frames at JYSK for less than £3 each and will be popping all 10 on the wall.

Crimsonbow · 17/09/2023 10:31

@4inthishouse I spotted an f1 hoody in H&M yesterday. Looking online, they have a few bits

With Boots - do they usually do any Black Friday type offers? I’m wondering whether to buy perfume now on the 20% off offer or hold out in case I can get a better deal later on…
