Christmas Bargain Thread 1 - the one where my dad is 17

Thanks @snowmanshoes for the title!

Hello everyone, so nice to see you all. Pull up a chair, have a mince pie and a peppermint latte and share your Christmas bargains and ideas. In message two are the links and info from last year - if anyone has anything they'd like me to amend or add, please do tag me and I'll update.

A reminder not to post affiliate links in the thread but that MN do change amazon links shared by posters into MN affiliate links.

Please do watch the thread rather than post to mark place to make it easier for everyone to keep up and find relevant info.

A massive thank you to those who have contributed and/or run the prequel threads this year. I can't believe it's another year! I started these when DD was a baby and she's just gone into Year 8!

Woohoo! My favourite thread of the year.

I have a discount code of 50% for wild deodorant. 'New' customers only so use a new email address I guess. Code is CRAFTGIN
I ordered last night and already dispatched.

(Craft gin which I reset back up last year with a new email address for a bargain bottle then forgot to unsubscribe so it was the least bargainous bargain ever!).

Playdoh dinosaur set £6.99 at Amazon. Bargain!

Thanks very much. Just ordered one for one of my nephews 🎄

The pickle bauble has a bit of a traditional attached - the person who finds it on the tree gets extra present and good luck for the next year :)

😳 I got this (via Waitrose I think, but possibly Ocado) last year for my DP who is a pickle addict😂 He was pretty happy with it. We like to add a new decoration to the tree each year (well, I do, but he enjoys finding the new one once the tree is done). We have a Brussel sprout one too from a different year. The rest of our decorations are pretty standard, I promise.

I did the same. Cost me £5 to send the gin back but they did then refund it at least.

I have read the how to do clicky links instructions a dozen times....and am no wiser. Is it me? I cant work it out at all from whats been written

gawditswindy · 07/09/2023 18:42

I held onto my craft gin subscription. I set it to 3 monthly and every time I forget and curse the money coming off but I love receiving the gin. Blush

Hibernatalie · 07/09/2023 18:46

Not sure I can resist the Works sale!!!

SgtCatherineCawood · 07/09/2023 18:49

@Reastie I have one just started reception and one gone into year 8 as well!

It was the first day today both were out of the house so I finally managed to open all the Amazon boxes under the stairs, update my gift list app and then hide it all away again!

Time to crack on properly now!

@Hedjwitch I find it easier to click on the chain icon when I write a post. Paste the link into the box and then put a title. Makes tidy links for me anyway

Yay

Ginann · 07/09/2023 19:30

Hellooooo!

I'm here for about my 4th year Smile

I've already got loads for DC from sales through the year so far but holding off now so I can get what they 'ask for' rather than just surprises.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 07/09/2023 19:45

whoop whoop! was just thinking about this when I woke up this morning

evtheria · 07/09/2023 20:02

@FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee The actual set may look a bit childish to an 8 year old, but every year I buy a multipack of play dough and DS9 ends up playing with it for hours with DP and whoever else is about. Just sat at table, messing and making things. Excellent activity for that odd time between Christmas and New Year, highly recommend.

I really want a pickle for the tree because I looooove pickles, but DP is very fussy about his decorations (not usually bothered about homemaking so I fully encourage this!) and it will drive him mad. I think they're a common dec in the eastern/mid US, could be an old European immigrant thing...?

Poundland finds
•That Snakes game people mention often, £5
• SMALL packs of air dry clay, they fit in your hand, perfect for stockings or if you're putting together an art hamper.

Thanks for the new thread @Reastie! Very exciting!

Just a reminder that Hotel Chocolat and Liberty send £5 birthday discounts, Hot Diamonds sends £10 and I'm sure a few others do similar. Might come in handy if you were purchasing something full price that won't reduce in a sale etc.

Pammela2 · 07/09/2023 20:44

Thanks for the new thread!

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 07/09/2023 20:47

@evtheria oh no I’ve just brought the snakes game for £7.50 for eldest nephew.

bizzey · 07/09/2023 20:49

Thanks for new thread !!
The one that I really shouldn't be on or following I think I am done 🤣!

But I have serious FOMO and I want to keep my eye out for the buyagift discounts if they come up.

I have a 21st to sort out before Christmas!

bizzey · 07/09/2023 20:53

Massive thank you to a PP on the other thread who mentioned the Hallmark Christmas box ....it was way back in July !

I finally opened it and divided it up for storage ....
Wow ! ...it was a bit like Mary Poppins handbag !

Lots of us got it for £20.ish .

Worth looking out for again.

I tried to do a link but not available at the moment..

Helicopter experiences is what I am after at the moment.

Kissmas · 07/09/2023 20:58

Oh I need the Poundland clay!

That reminds me. The Poundland meal deals include the medium sized Pringles as a side so I buy the big prawn or chicken salad (serve as side dish with dinner) a tub of pringles and a bottle of pop/milkshake or whatever £3.

The Pringles get saved for stockings and hampers or silly things for the elves to do.

@evtheria oh no I’ve just brought the snakes game for £7.50 for eldest nephew.

It's currently about £9.50 'on sale' on Amazon so you've still got it at a good price!

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 07/09/2023 21:08

That makes me feel a little better lol thanks
