If you’ve bought everything but aren’t sure of the cooking plan etc. I’d get ahead today by making a vegetable or mushroom soup, just fry a chopped onion (mushroom) and garlic, boil them up for 30 mins with what looks good from your veg and blitz it all. Starter (with fried bread croutons) ready.
Ask your guests for advice AND HELP on the main course (French style turkey with chestnuts is pretty daunting IMO) but if you’re doing turkey, Google cooking times and add an hour for crisping the roast potatoes while the meat rests, the bird can just go in as it is.
Prep a tray of chopped veg today and cook it in your extra hour. That’s when pigs in blankets and baked stuffing go in, too.
Microwave your Christmas Pudding (never steamed one in 30 years) and serve it with ice cream. Pleasantly quirky. Custard is fine, too.
Plenty of non-cooked stuff like (French!) wine, cheese and crackers, nuts and dried fruit, pate and toast are Christmassy and help fill in any waiting time.
But most of all GET PEOPLE TO HELP.
