NB I've been up wrapping at 1.00 in the morning on Christmas Eve before now. Never again!

WhileMyGuitarGentlyWeeps · 22/12/2022 16:58

9.5. I have 3 presents to wrap, Christmas day food to prep, trifle, bread, and milk to buy. Almost done though!

ChristmasMovieMarathon · 22/12/2022 16:59

Wrapping done, presents delivered, house is mostly clean and tidy. Tesco shop being delivered and cleaner doing her last clean tomorrrow.

WhileMyGuitarGentlyWeeps · 22/12/2022 16:59

MERRY CHRISTMAS to you too @yorkshirepudsx 😘

YourWinter · 22/12/2022 17:01

I haven’t bought any presents yet and CBA to put the tree up. Will shop tomorrow and assume see grandkids at DD’s over the weekend.

I hate it, Christmas films on a loop since September, all the hype, the wanting and getting and spending, and within 24 hours they won’t remember who gave them which presents anyway.

  1. Still need to do some housework, but presents all bought and wrapped, the ones needing sending have been sent. I'm collecting the food order tomorrow. Just need to collect my son from 70 miles away Christmas Eve!
On top of that I've done my taxes!
janglealltheway · 22/12/2022 17:08

Maybe 7-8? I still have a few gifts to wrap, a couple of things to buy for the Christmas dinner, and lots to tidy!

I'm the same. I might push towards a 2 come Christmas eve. I think wrap some presents (probably Christmas eve at 10pm knowing me) and then just hope for the best really.

I like Christmas but I'm shit at getting ready for it.

I took the huge bag of baubles out the garage in Nov and I've only gone and bloody lost them. So my 7ft tree has about ten ultra tiny baubles on because they are the only ones not missing. DH is possibly playing a prank and hiding the big baubles because he hates, in his words, cushions and Christmas.

Tiredmum100 · 22/12/2022 17:24

8/10. DC presents not wrapped and cakes to make on Christmas eve. One more day of work to go first.

Lochjeda · 22/12/2022 17:37

Not one present wrapped still a couple to get for non immediate family members

No stocking stuff bought

No food shop done

House hasn't been cleaned

I'm not worried il get it done tomoro and out for dinner at six and then it's time to relax.

speakout · 22/12/2022 17:40

Almost all presents wrapped, but I have two weeks off work already- thanks to RM strike.
Not ideal, but I am making the most of things and being organised ( but unpaid)

allsogreen · 22/12/2022 17:57

I'm a fairly solid 8 I think

All presents bought, a few left to wrap
final present (gift card) that I had given up hope on arrived today Xmas Grin
stockings done
tree and decs all up
spare bed made up for final adult dc arriving tonight
mice pies made
christmas cake made and now iced
basics shopping order arriving tonight
collecting food to go order tomorrow at 8am then will also pop into morrisons for any last minute bits
House not tidy as I'd like but with 4 extra adult/student dc back home it isnt going to be!!
table decs ready to go
christmas eve meal booked

almost rady to relax!!

FayKnights · 22/12/2022 18:11

You’ve made me really chuckle!
If they made a Christmas special
of Daisy Coopers ‘Am I being unreasonable’ this is what I imagine happening 😂

FayKnights · 22/12/2022 18:13

My reply was to @Choccolatte
😁

pinneddownbytabbies · 22/12/2022 18:14

About 2 and a half. Hopefully 4 by bedtime, once I've rationalised the pile of presents stashed in my wardrobe and worked out what else I need to get.

Food is about a 6.

speakout · 22/12/2022 18:19

Was organised but lights on our christmas tree have packed in, visited a few local shops this afternoon, but none suitable- led ropes, outside etc.
Luckily Argos have a great sale on christmas lights, will be delivered tomorrow morning, but that means stripping the tree and redecorating it tomorrow.

HalfasleepChrisintheMorning · 22/12/2022 18:20

8/9.
All presents bought and wrapped.
Lots of food in the freezer and have Asda booked for tomorrow.
Cleaner came earlier in the week.
Still need to do a bit of cooking, last minute cleaning and lay the table.

HippyChickMama · 22/12/2022 18:32

Maybe a 7. Food shop done today, all presents bought but still have a fair bit of wrapping to do, will do it tonight after dc are in bed. House will be cleaned top to bottom tomorrow with the help of dc alongside a truckload of washing and then just the food prep to do on Christmas Eve

Santamajormummy000 · 22/12/2022 18:33

I’d say a 7, and we have low standards for Christmas…
Mini tree still to decorate.
A few stocking fillers to wrap.
Food semi sorted. Still to make Bailey’s cheesecake, prep the veg and assemble Beef Wellington.
I want to bath the dog (!) vacuum and mop.

On Saturday evening I’m going to wheel out the snacks and watch Muppet Christmas Carol and Arthur Christmas. Maybe the Creature Comforts Christmas episode.
Christmas Day already has an action plan so I’m confident it’ll all work out fine.
If not, is it the end of the world? No!

Happy Christmas everybody!

RenardeRenarde · 22/12/2022 18:52

I’ll say a 6.
I have lots of stuff done, all presents wrapped and under the tree, 95% of the food bought, house is tidy.

Husband will be off Friday and Sat so we can have a quick sweep of the house/do the bathrooms then. Doing all the washing including things like blankets and cat beds today.

The trouble is we’re abroad this year and couldn’t get anything pre prepped or any of the traditional party foods we like around Christmas. I can’t cook. We have 2 guests coming. I’ve bought all the food but have NO IDEA how to bring it all together on the day. I have never even produced a Sunday roast before. So feeling exceptionally unprepared for producing the actual meal :(

finished wrapping today; got to plan Xmas day menu & timings plus collect turkey on Christmas Eve and few small extra bits of food but that’s it.
tried to be organised this year as too exhausting otherwise.
we’re hosting too hence a plan is needed.
Merry Christmas!

caringcarer, I heard a National Express coaches ad on the radio, and it said they even have some services running on Christmas Day.

They do. I know someone getting one. Probably won't be full service though.

BigMandysBookClub · 22/12/2022 19:16

I think about 6.5. I don't feel mentally up for it as I've been ill, which is a shame.

Just need to get food and a couple of gifts and have a good clean. Wanted to do lots of lovely magical things with the kids and bake stuff, but they just want to chill out and I CBA either. We are all feeling under the weather and a bit exhausted. Always have high hopes for Christmas, but i think the time of the year and the darkness and bugs leaves me feeling too tired to get into it.

I miss the days when I didn't have kids when it was all about going out and dancing. Now it's all about them understandably, but I forget to get in the spirit with all the prep.
