6 -7, though I am working up until Christmas eve so this is hindering my progress!

That being said, last year I was fed up of wrapping til 2am on Christmas eve, so I was super organised and had everything done and dusted, bought and wrapped by mid December. It was a bit flat for me to be honest! And I had my first every January blues 🤔

So this year I'm happy I've got a bit but not a huge overwhelming amount still to do. The downside is any more unexpected hiccups will genuinely have me in a flap.

I love the rush and swell of business and then quiet and contrast of boxing day, turns out it's one of the best bits Halo

Even though I had a panic earlier, by the end of the day it’ll be a strong 8.5. I’m just icing three Christmas cakes, then have two rooms left to clean. Three small parcels which arrived today to wrap, so presents are at 9.5. The food delivery came this morning and nothing vital was missing, so that’s at 10. I’ve been on leave since the beginning of the week, doing a mix of prep and not much, but want to get most stuff done before DH finishes work for the holidays in a couple of hours’ time. He can share the remaining bit of cleaning later on! Then we can relax. Guests are coming each of the following three days so I wanted to be able to have one quiet day tomorrow.

I bought some last minute bargains in the TU Sainsbury's sale - slippers and Christmas dresses which will fit tis year and next. Chose C&C which they said would arrive "in time for Christmas" so I assume I will be picking them up on Christmas Eve 😬 but if they don't arrive in time it's not really a big deal, they're just little extras.

Otherwise I've had almost all the gifts since end of November and wrapped them up last week.

About a 3

Just been a rubbish few weeks, ending in me with having the most awful flu. No presents wrapped, still missing half of the childrens presents, presents for 4 adults and my energy levels are still on the floor.

Tomorrow is my last chance, so going to have an early night tonight, put on my big girl pants and go into town early tomorrow, with the intention of not leaving until I'm done

BiddyPop · 22/12/2022 15:14

About a 5 here too.
Cards written and sent - overseas ones will be late and I have a letter to write to add to my final card.
More than half presents wrapped. Only 2 left to buy (and 1 more if I can think of an idea for Dh).
Most food shopping sorted - but I know I'll likely have to do a run to local shop when we get to DMIL tomorrow or on 24th for "bits" including some fruit and cream.

Still to do:
Finish emptying suitcases from last week's travels for work (clean clothes and wash bag and shoes left), and repack for going "down home" for 5 nights. (5! Eek!)
Make chocolate biscuit cake for dessert (before we leave here).
Check my oil, tyre pressures and fill fuel/water, clean car if I have time.

Go to sailing club and buy wine to use up "bar voucher" we haven't yet spent this year before I lose €160 (voucher is €275 of annual membership fees so I've spent some).
Clean out fridge.
Put ice in coolbox to chill it before travelling and transporting some cold stuff.

Finish wrapping.

Would like to do:
Make mince pies
Watch Christmas movie
Have relaxing bath and personal grooming (I even bought nail varnish).

caringcarer, I heard a National Express coaches ad on the radio, and it said they even have some services running on Christmas Day.

Second this.

I have one bottle of whiskey to wrap and I'm done. Having Christmas dinner at my parents and off out for a buffet on Boxing Day just need food for the Tue Wednesday which I think my son is picking up now.

bloodyeverlastinghell · 22/12/2022 15:19

Presents bought but not wrapped. Food shop being done today hopefully a 6 by tonight.

MaydinEssex · 22/12/2022 15:23

Probably a 9, there will only be the 3 of us anyway, so although we will have goodies to eat and booze to drink, it will be just like cooking a roast, it will be nice and cosy and chilled

Blueisthecolour1 · 22/12/2022 15:23

Hmmm a cautious 6 here. Still to do - pick up Christmas food order from supermarket tomorrow, hoover/clean the floors, buy fuel for fire, wrap one big pressie and find the effing stockings to go over fireplace - thought they were in the loft but no, so may instead hang Christmas hats up instead but don't know if this is a bit of a cop-out.

99% of presents bought and wrapped. Just need to buy/wrap 2 small ones for DH, will pop out and sort that tomorrow.

Food shop done this morning. DH will cook most of the Christmas Day food, I’m doing the main dish for our vegetarian guests.

House was cleaned today, I just have to set up the extra spare bed and keep on top of the general tidying/cleaning.

Need to change the sheets on my bed tomorrow.

Got a couple of nice social things before the big day too.

MrsTulip · 22/12/2022 15:38

I reckon about a 5. Need to go food shopping tomorrow, bake some mince pies, ice the Christmas cake, pop the neighbours cards through their doors (might do that whist DH is cooking evening meal), get my son (9) to write cards to his grandparents, tidy and clean kitchen (including oven, could put racks and tray in soak overnight) tidy and clean living room, print my talk for the 4pm crib service at church (just in case I forget bits of it, doing a retelling of nativity story using chocolate) and email the tech bloke from church to tell him no screen and projector needed but can I have the tie microphone please.

emmathedilemma · 22/12/2022 15:38

A solid 6-7.
wrapping done
laundry done but needs to dry
car full of petrol
housework almost done (just having a cuppa before I hoover)
half packed
no food shop to do as going to my parents

Saddogmum73 · 22/12/2022 15:39

10, presents all wrapped, food all sorted, spare room made up, washing and ironing done and put away. Just got to collect parents from airport tomorrow. Now chilling on the sofa with the dog! Bliss.

I am feeling so very sorry for myself. I thought I was prepared for Xmas as going to adult DS and really looking forward to not having to cook for first time in my adult life. Now car has broken and can't get garage to look at it until after Xmas. Trains are on strike so can't go by train. I am going to have to get taxi to supermarket to buy Xmas turkey and more food as did not buy much as not planning to be here. Was planning to go to MiL on Boxing Day now she will be alone all over Xmas. DH is worried about his Mum. My adult dear son will also be alone unless he drives 160 miles to me for Xmas day. Feels like Xmas is ruined. Now DH trying to find hire car so we can still go but no luck so far, everything is booked. I feel like crying but know it won't do any good. Can anyone think of other options?

If you were able to do the 160mile journey to DS, is he able to do the reverse to you?(you mentioned it as a possibility). If he can stay the night you'll have his car on boxing day to visit MIL.

Hope all works out for you. These last minute problems are always a nightmare

9 as i still have some regular food shopping to do either later tonight or tomorrow. Just have a couple of things to prepare on Christmas Eve to save making them on Christmas Day but have all I need to make them.

Fairislefandango · 22/12/2022 15:46
  1. I have a couple more presents to wrap. Other than that, nothing to do - we are going to PIL's on Christmas Eve and staying until 27th, so no prep to do. They don't even want us to bring anything except wine!
MichaelFabricantWig · 22/12/2022 15:48

wrapping, few food items, housework to go.

Tisfortired · 22/12/2022 15:49

Luckily I am not hosting this year, I am 37 weeks pg with DC2 so MiLand my mum are taking one for the team and hosting Christmas Day and Boxing Day so that’s a weight off!

In terms of everything else I’d say a solid 7. Couple of last minute bits to get from Sainsbury’s after work tomorrow and one last click and collect order for DS and that’s me done. Not wrapped a single thing or cleaned the house yet though those are the things stopping me from being an 8 or 9 prepared. Is anybody ever a 10?!

Spanielsarepainless · 22/12/2022 15:50

7.5. Still some food to buy tomorrow and I need to Hoover downstairs and get rid of a huge basket of ironing.

MintyPrincess · 22/12/2022 15:51

9.5% just need to wrap ds presents

caringcarer · 22/12/2022 15:51

@Pandorapitstop @Shecrazy @creamwitheverything I think I've solved problem. I have been on Auto trader and taken a gamble. I don't usually gamble. I've put a deposit on a used car and garage will MOT it today. They will service and valet tomorrow and I can collect on Saturday morning. Younger son can take me to pick it up. He will go on up to older sons and I will follow on Sunday morning. All I have to do is insure new car and pay road tax to garage and they will tax it online for me. Feeling excited now. Hoping car is not a dud.
