A 9, all wrapped, house cleaned just need to grab a few party nibbles in a moment and then that’s it.

Choccolatte · 22/12/2022 14:21

Much better than last year when I accidentally went on a bender on the 23rd for a mates birthday and had to do the shop, wrap 624 presents, make loads of food and decorate the house on 2 hours sleep.
Was all fine and the kids liked the presents in pillowcases and sheets (which is being repeated this year for the big pressies!)

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 22/12/2022 14:23

About a 4 in the sense of things done. Physically as in unwell 2 and mentally about a 3

TeenDivided · 22/12/2022 14:26

9 physically.
2 mentally.

TokyoSushi · 22/12/2022 14:27

About 7/8 I reckon. Still need to do the Christmas food shop which I'll do later today, clean and wrap wider family presents. It feels under control though. Fortunately, DH is a competent and willing helper, I think it makes a lot of difference!

Haveahappyholiday · 22/12/2022 14:29

6

Presents done apart from one to collect later.
Started food shopping but no fresh food or turkey yet.
Still lots of wrapping to do.
Want to do a clean up too.

BeastOfBODMAS · 22/12/2022 14:29

easily a 9. Might clean or might just do mood lighting.
I’m ill too but thankfully have the strength to lift a glass of wine mince pie even if too weak and sickly for the hoover

decemberagain · 22/12/2022 14:34
  1. Apart from buying the veg I'm done.
Wazzzzzuuuuuuup · 22/12/2022 14:36

Total 10. Shopping, planning, wrapping, cleaning, prepping all done. Family and friends coming for a party this evening, travelling to my mums for. Christmas tomorrow. Kids are almost grown up now so have been a good help.

Its been a rush the last few days, but taking an extra couple of days off before Christmas has made all the difference. I'll be back to work after the Bank Holiday but that's OK.

I'm actually wandering around a bit aimless waiting for my guests to arrive.

After a few really difficult weeks personally and professionally, a couple of things have moved today which had been previously stuck, so hopefully my emotional state will also be on the up!

Apologies for the unstealth boast, I'm just glad to have all my shit together for once. Thoughts and prayers for those with it all still to do!

Bring it on!

Oh my, you're amazing...

I am feeling so very sorry for myself. I thought I was prepared for Xmas as going to adult DS and really looking forward to not having to cook for first time in my adult life. Now car has broken and can't get garage to look at it until after Xmas. Trains are on strike so can't go by train. I am going to have to get taxi to supermarket to buy Xmas turkey and more food as did not buy much as not planning to be here. Was planning to go to MiL on Boxing Day now she will be alone all over Xmas. DH is worried about his Mum. My adult dear son will also be alone unless he drives 160 miles to me for Xmas day. Feels like Xmas is ruined. Now DH trying to find hire car so we can still go but no luck so far, everything is booked. I feel like crying but know it won't do any good. Can anyone think of other options?

Can you put a plea out on facebook/WhatsApp groups (even on MN?) and see if anyone at all is heading in the rough direction you want to go? Even if your son could get you somewhere closer to him it would be a help? Train strikes aren't till 6pm Christmas Eve so could you try and travel earlier?

Wisteriaroundthedoor · 22/12/2022 14:40

Nine.. I just need to wrap the presents

Pandorapitstop · 22/12/2022 14:44

caringcarer, I heard a National Express coaches ad on the radio, and it said they even have some services running on Christmas Day.

PeonyRose80 · 22/12/2022 14:49

Is it possible to travel via train tmrw eve? and stay?

creamwitheverything · 22/12/2022 14:52

I was doing ok til last monday..all I had left to do was collect the order on saturday from the bakery and get the fresh things like cream and cheeses and milk,Was looking forward to a really relaxed few days until my bloody mother started, All of a sudden she was pathetic, too exhausted, too fragile too ugh and she had me delivering persents over a 20 mile radius to her friends for her, going to the supermarket not once but 3 times and although she had spent the last 4 weeks wrapping presents for ukrainian and homeless charities totalling over 300 things that had been donated to a collection point she suddenly lost the use of her arms to wrap her own gifts so I wrapped 83 gifts for her,She is taking the absolute piss and finding me more jobs to do by the hour. Finding time however to have her hair done but I am more angry at myself for letting her do this but I am trying to keep the peace as its christmas,

creamwitheverything · 22/12/2022 14:55

@caringcarer why dont you hire a car? Be money well spent for a couple of days, sorry this has happened for you

creamwitheverything · 22/12/2022 14:56

sorry crossed post saw you were looking into that option x

Susurrar · 22/12/2022 15:03

Nine. I need to iron the very special tablecloth ( beautifully embroidered by my Mum) and get root vegetables because I bloody forgot. There’s no way I’m going back to shops today though.

Everything else is done. Presents-wrapped, fridge-full, house-clean. I have actually just sat down with a glass of wine.

-gloats-

DancingSober · 22/12/2022 15:03

7.5....maybe 8 after I nip to the shops in a minute

eatdrinkandbemerry · 22/12/2022 15:04

10 but only because I've got disabled kids now off school so they need all my attention.

WhatinTheJeremyKyle · 22/12/2022 15:05

I am a 8 - I have a few bits to pick up tonight but know exactly what I am getting.

I will then wrap tonight.

Alot of my gifts are vouchers / small things so that wont take too loing x

IamChipmunk · 22/12/2022 15:05

Im going to say 8! All presents wrapped and sorted. House all decorated and reasonably tidy as been off this week. Most of the important food bits already in.
Just need to put some washing on tonight, clean house tomorrow and go early for last bits of food shopping in morning.

Currently exercising the children at soft play whilst getting on top of my xmas marking! (teacher!)

Tiggal · 22/12/2022 15:06

Do your plates, cutlery not get dusty if they’re set out so early?

Zebra100 · 22/12/2022 15:10

I am about a 5 and wish the whole bloody thing was over!!!!!!

TimBoothseyes · 22/12/2022 15:11

10 Presents bought and wrapped, food and drink all sorted and the turkey is defrosting as I type. Yep I'm feeling very smug.
