M&S 12 days of treats - rubbish!!

WilsonMilson · 11/12/2022 17:40

I see others have had free bottles gin and other delights, and am feeling a bit miffed.

I got a free small hand cream (which they didn’t even have at my local M&S) on the first day, and it’s been utter rubbish every day since - think 15% off women’s rights, 20% off skincare, 15% off a Panettone, £1 off a light up shortbread lantern. Just so disappointing.
Anyone else feeling the same? Does it go by how much you spend in M&S, I spent maybe £800 a year I’d say. Perhaps that not enough to get the good stuff?!

I got free gin so I can't complain.

The algorithm makes absolutely no sense because I spend loads of money and time in M&S. It's closer to me than the big supermarkets, so I do a lot of my top up shopping there during the week.
I haven't received a single free thing yet, just random 20% discounts for crap I'd never buy (and Samsung???? since when do they sell electronics???)

Same, I spend about £500^ at M&S each month and got free hancream then shot discounts

Definitely rewards big spenders. We spend about £130 on food every week and I got the free bread and light-up gin bottle.

Not true.

I don't want to say how much but I spend a LOT more than the amount you quote on a weekly basis and I didn't get the gin.

It's pure luck.

WilsonMilson · 12/12/2022 15:51

Got 20% off sodding socks on the final day - I thought it might be a good one to finish, but just blooming socks. Apparently if you open all days (which I, increasingly disappointingly, have) you get an extra ‘golden reward’, but I’ve not had that yet - surely it wasn’t the sock discount?!

WHERE’S MY GIN?????!!!!

I got 15% off slippers, 2 days after I’d bought 2 new pairs of slippers… 🤦‍♀️

I had similar with pyjamas, but before the twelve days offers. I returned the pair I'd bought in store and re-ordered for click and collect.
I have an issue that I haven't been able to open the app in store to see what offers I have, so missed my loaf of bread!

LouisCatorze · 12/12/2022 18:04

It seemed like a bit of a swizz to me. And frankly it's made me feel less loyalty to the M&S brand. It's really not the way to repay years of customer loyalty, is it?

I got 20% off bras after I'd bought 3 2 days previously 😁

GetOffTheRoof · 11/12/2022 22:23

Same hand cream that isn't in stock anywhere, then Samsung discounts (which are available elsewhere anyway), Tonies (no kids) and today is 20% off jeans which I'm raging about as I bought 3 pairs 2 weeks ago. :-/

I only buy jeans and bras in M&S ffs. Sparks should know this!

Order them again on click and collect and taken them back using your original receipt?

Starlightstarbright1 · 12/12/2022 18:56

I am so disappointed. I deleted the app.

Goldenphoenix · 13/12/2022 07:27

Has anyone had their golden surprise yet? I can't see anything on my app

ChessieFL · 13/12/2022 07:34

Nope, all mention of golden reward disappeared from the app.

WilsonMilson · 13/12/2022 07:55

No golden reward for me, I opened all 12 days, but nothing on the app or the website about it now. What the hell?!

OP posts:
rippleraspberry · 13/12/2022 07:58

It's a free app that anyone can download. You're not paying for any of this. Why are you complaining?

Because it wasn't advertised if 12 days of discount codes..

TheLadyOfHay · 13/12/2022 08:30

No golden treat for me either. Suspect we will all get a lump of coal if anything

bravelittletiger · 13/12/2022 08:47

I've had nothing other than money off things I didn't want or already had. Haven't had any freebies.

GetOffTheRoof · 13/12/2022 09:05

All washed and worn by now so sadly not.

What's the "Golden Treat" we were told would happen today? M&S Sparks is such a waste of time IMO. Very poorly managed.

Scoose · 13/12/2022 09:12

I've got a free calm body lotion maybe that is the golden reward but I won't be going out of my way to redeem it. What a load of shite a particularly low point was 20% off Stilton . Envy (not envy)

broomers · 13/12/2022 10:09

I'm usually up feeding DS2 in the night and would open it daily then, not used one of the offers but have recently bought bedding and kids pyjamas and socks from there so very annoying. My free hand cream from Day 1 has now disappeared and no golden offer thing that they promised either. Very poor form from them. I thought maybe all the crap offers were penance for a decent prize at the end. I also spent £500 on lighting with them a couple of months ago so not like they haven't seen enough of my money this year!

Because some people got great feee stuff like bottles of gin, while the rest of us who spend a clean fortune at M&S got sweet fa!

It's a lucky dip/ pot luck, and you also paid "sweet fa" to participate.

You got a hand cream for nothing and you are still complaining.

If M&S gave out free bottles of gin to everyone who downloaded an app do you think they would still be in business? Don't be ridiculous.

NotAnotherTaco · 13/12/2022 11:11

12 days of discounts for me too.

A particular highlight was 10% off kitchen towel... Merry Christmas 🙄

Jeez, no one can take a bit of lighthearted moaning anymore? If it doesn’t bother you, not sure why you need to put your tuppence-worth in.
Of course it’s hardly the end of the world, but they hyped it to the max and led people to believe there would be freebies, when in fact it was small % off random things that most people don’t seem to want.
It also doesn’t feel fair that some people randomly get better free gifts than others.

As for the hand cream, I did not in fact get it as it has never been in stock. So I did, actually, get sweet fa!

And no promised golden reward so far.

broomers · 13/12/2022 11:20

Just looked on the app and my golden reward is 30% off Christmas decs 🙄 not very useful when they all went up 2 weeks ago and most places are discounting their stock at this point in the month anyway. Feels a bit disingenuous. Won't be bothering with it all next year!

FredaFox · 13/12/2022 11:23

The golden award shows where your normal sparks discounts appear
Mines there my mums isn't
It's crap anyway 😂
